I just bought a pacifica, had door and slappy transmission problems, now wanting to change out the lights. I have watched all your other videos on pacificas and they've been so educational. You have been such a huge blessing, and I want to thank you so much for helping the rest of us out!
Great instructions. Haven’t even bought my new bulb yet and I already feel like I can change it no problem. Will be back with results. And I’m now subscribed. THANK YOU SIR! 🙏🏾
Thanks for showing the inside of the headlamp assembly. I dropped the original halogen bulb inside of there accidentally and I am at a crossroad between trying to fish for it somehow with my meaty hands, or removing just enough of the bumper to be able to remove the entire headlamp assembly as a unit and rattling it out.
You're welcome! Good luck getting that bulb out, it is a pretty awkward hand position with the added complication of having the bulb in your fingertips.
@@TheLawnEngineer if only it had worked out that way. I had to take out the assembly, flip it over and shake until it fell out. No missing fasteners or clips though!
Great video and instructions. I purchased the bulbs from the link and was able to do the installation. I found that the driver's side was actually more difficult due to more limited visibility than the passenger side. I flipped the lights on after installing each side to make sure that the LEDs were working before putting in the heat sink into the enclosure and closing the dust cover.
Unfortunately, while the video on the installation is great, I haven't found the LED headlights to be noticeably brighter in real world usage. Probably going to experiment with a different brand.
@@JustinYung look at the lumen rating. The ones I used are on the lower end, there any many brighter options out there. You will notice that brighter ones will have larger heat sinks and fans to dissipate the heat.
I ordered these bulbs and put them in last night. Easy to install, but driving at 5:45 AM this morning I felt they provided more peripheral lighting, but less light directly ahead. When I finally merged onto interstate, I could see the lights from the car behind me lighting up the road better than my lights. Maybe a brighter bulb would work better, or a HID. Any Suggestions would be appreciated. I put the halogens back in tonight for my morning commute. These bulbs look great, but do not seem to throw enough light for me.
Yes, there are brighter led bulbs available. 9005 is the frame size of the bulb but within that the lumen rating is how bright they are. If you look thru 9005 bulbs you can find much higher lumen ratings. You will notice that they will start to add cooling fans because of the higher energy draw.
@@MazichMusic Agreed, I was referring to higher lumen rated LED bulbs. I have an newer video were I test some other LED bulbs: th-cam.com/video/qNConVJJhKw/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for showing the lights on @ daytime and nighttime! I just replaced mine and I’m skeptical about driving with them at night vs my halogens, they seem so much dimmer in the garage when compared.
I would suggest disconnecting the wire from the bulb before removing the bulb. Also I test the new bulb before I completely install it. I would also suggest installing the bulb and then connecting the wire. Another suggestion is to use some dielectric grease in the housing of the bulb where the pins are.
Unfortunately that is not a bulb you can replace, it’s built into the assembly. There is a control module that can be replaced but you have to remove the bumper to access it.
I'm going to try out the Toshiba HIR1 / 9011 bulbs, ordered from Daniel Stern Lighting. He insists that LEDs is a bad choice. Stock: 9005, 12.8V, 65W, 1700 lumens; New Toshibas: 9011, 12.8V, 65W, 2530 lumens. The Toshibas share identical filament geometry and base architecture as well as the same power consumption as the original 9005 HB3 bulbs. They have some sort of special Infrared Reflective Coating, which makes them a big upgrade.

Hi Thanks for the video. The link you provided say `position High Beam` but in the video says we are working with low beam. is that ok to swap the position ? Please let me know. I am very basic here ! Thanks
The bulb in the link fits low beam or high beam for pacificas with the standard low beams. It’s a bit confusing because HIDs were also offered for the low beams. In van’s with HID low beams the linked bulbs will replace the high beam bulb and for vans without HID the led bulb will fit low or high beams.
The short answer is that the same bulb is used for low and high beams...but its not quite that simple. Headlight bulbs required: Low beam w/o projector lenses: H11 Low beam with projector lenses: 9005 High beam: 9005
@@TheLawnEngineer Please let me know if I'm understanding this properly: Each headlight is made up of 2 light bulbs- one low beam bulb and one high beam bulb. Some trim models of Pacifica have low beam projectors (9005) and some don't have low beam projectors (H11). Is this right?
Only if you have the standard headlights. If you have projector or HID headlights you can’t use H11. In general, all trims touring and above had projector or HID headlights.
Some have “upgraded” HID headlights, those in the metal boxes. Unfortunately they were a technology that didn’t last long because LEDs are superior. The real bad news is that they can’t be easily converted.
It’s the same 9005 bulb. If you use led for the high beam the daytime light will likely flicker but you can turn them off on the infotainment screen settings.
Did you do the daytime running lights/ high beam? I did the low beam led with no issues, the other one had flickering and osiers tried few different brands. Because the day time running light is the same as high beam, just different amounts of power has issues with led
I only did the low beams. I have heard that can be an issue with the high beams. I'll have to look into that more and see if I want to do something there.
@@TheLawnEngineer I turned the daytime lights off in settings, so it’s only on when I flash high beams, but it would be nice to know. The front amber turn signals are hard, couldn’t figure those out. Otherwise everything else is converted to led

And what about fog lights that mine have, is it the same bulb? So I need to buy 3 sets? Other wise my fog lights and low beams would be different color?
I would buy a bag of desiccant and put it in the headlight assembly overnight with the back cover on. That should remove the moisture. Yes the fog light bulbs are different, you do need three sets of bulbs to have them all match. Fog lights are H11 bulbs.
