You installed the LED incorrectly. You MUST clock them with the LED chip facing in the 3 and 9 o’clock position. When you do, you get the perfect light with the cut off line. I have the same lights on my truck. Once I turn them the light was fantastic. On the fog lights below, the light needs to be clocked in the 12 and 6 position to exposed the LED to the biggest part of the reflector,
I have mine installed the same way in my Yukon for the headlights, high beams, and fog lights, and I agree, LEDs point left and right versus up and down.
If you rotate the bulb so that the LEDs are facing side to side (9 and 3) instead of top and bottom (12 and 6), you will get much better light distribution. Halogen bulbs have full 360 degree light output so it does not matter what orientation the bulb is in. With LEDs, the top and bottom have less light than the sides where the chips are, so there will be less light (dead spot) directly in front of your car when clocked correctly (9 and 3), but proper fog lights will fill that in pretty well. From what I've seen, Auxito LEDs are not that great, so if you want some LEDs that are brighter and better for projectors, here are a few I would recommend: 1: GTR Lighting Ultra 2 2: Headlight Revolution Sv.4 3: Amazon Katana 9005 LED (same as Sv.4, just cheaper) 4: Diode Dynamics SL1. I currently have the Sv.4 bulbs in my H7 projectors on my subaru, and they are super bright with great distribution, with only a small dead spot in the foreground that my fog lights get rid of. Hope this helps!
Yeah going to try the 3/9 clocked position and see if the dead spots are better! I also noticed the ad for these bulbs is pretty deceiving. They said 16k lumens on the ad but when I got it the bulbs are 8k each which is less than others. Ill try clicking these first and then compare it to the HID setup in the projector next
For anyone who sees this. LEDs are ALWAYS supposed to be east and west not north and south regardless of how your original halogens were oriented. That's why he's having an issue with dead-spots to the left and right.
I did the s-v.4 led and the brightsource extended cover, I clocked the chips at 9 and 3. I have a very good beam pattern, light is not washed out and I do not notice dead spots. Anything looks better than the oem halogen, I almost went hid over led but the delay on the hid was the deciding factor.
I have the same Auxito Y13 in my projector lights and they are AWSOME. Perfect light pattern, no "dead spots" and much brighter than the stock regular bulbs. Led bulbs like these should ALWAYS be installed with the lights "9 and 3 o'clock", that means with the wire pointing DOWN. You installed the Auxito bulb the wrong way.
i have the auxito's as well but the beam pattern is awful with my reflector headlight and it's very blinding on oncoming traffic i emailed them for a refund and still waiting for their response
Hey, I just spent this entire weekend putting LEDs in my headlights. There was a NIGHT and DAY difference when I turned the LEDs to having the diodes clocked at 9 and 3 (diodes on the side, skinny side up) and the light pattern was SO much better than 12/6 o clock and got rid of the bat wing dead spot. TRUST.
Absolutely true on reflector type housings, our vision is horizontal biased since we don't fly by nature, and coincidentally you want more light on the ground that's rushing toward you in the horizontal plane. This does get tricky in projector housings, perhaps projectors are the use case for the 8 sided LED bulbs out there. Currently playing with a 360 degree adjustable to find optimal, projector housings can be very different internally model/manufacturer to model/manufacturer on how they bounce and focus light through the lens, tricky with the go-to 2 sided thin LED assemblies. The one I'm working with has the bulb coming in virtually perpendicular to the orientation of the lens.
I have these in my 2016 Elantra GT low beam with projectors and my results with them at 9 / 3 (Factory ) was amazing . No dark spots and they have DOT approved on them . I’ve had them since Mar. 2020 . Clocking them differently may help . I’ve already seen HID vs LED .
@@nicknick6960 No , they lock in at 9/3. I can tell by the way the cord is orientated ( It points down )If it’s a stock H11 , 9005 , 9006 …halogen light the connector always points down . Which is the 9/3 position every time.
@@Mr.Worf63 when i installed my gtr ultra 2 first on my projector was not locked on 9/3 and i had 9005. Now they are at 9/3 wire of the led pointing down right?
LED bulbs in projector headlights are superb. I replaced my bmw oem high beam bulbs, they were halogen 55w per bulb. I replaced them with same power LED bulbs and they are amazing, atleast twice as bright.
I have a 2012 Nissan Maxima that comes stock with HID low beams and halogen fog lights and high beams. I was going to upgrade the HID to LED and orient them vertically but I saw a lot of reviews saying that it would cause the beam to have the opposite dead spots compared to this (bright on the sides and dim straight ahead). My HIDs have a slight blue tint that suck when it is wet out. What I did, that I think is the best solution, is I got bright yellow LEDs (the best color for wet roads) for my fog lights and insanely bright white LEDs for my high beams. Now my fog lights travel as far as the low beam while giving the golden glow to show the wet roads better. I highly suggest that strategy if you have projector low beams but reflector fog/high beams
@@seanmurphy1768 I can't say 100% but I would think having the LEDs facing 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock would be best. I would think the one facing 6 o'clock would be the high beam and would reflect off the bottom of the housing and be directed upwards to show further down the road. Again, I'm not 100% sure but that is what I would try first if I were doing it
@@seanmurphy1768 Yes most review videos say stay away from LED headlights with more than 2 diodes, one on each side of the stem they are attached to. By going with 2 diodes there is one diode hitting each side, left and right side of the reflector inside the housing. The reflectors inside the housing (all that shiny chrome) is curved so it focuses the most light possible as far forward and to each side as it can. So any more than 2 diodes is disrupting they light omitted from the other diodes and are usually inn the "dark areas or the tops and bottoms" of the reflectors. Having more than 2 diodes in the products ad pic is nothing more than click bait to get the shopper to click on the ad, luring them to their page and making them believe with so many diodes they are so much brighter and better. They obviously will be brighter but unable to focus all that light where it needs to be. hope this helps,
I put Auxbeam F-16 Plus LED's in a 2018 Ram 3500. Crap stock halogen non-projector reflectors. Turned night into day. You don't need an expensive housing. These bulbs rock. Adjusted down they do not blind oncoming traffic either.
Glad we’ve got an updated video about leds in projectors I got my sv4 leds in my low beams and the light output is way better than the hikaris but the only draw back is they’re way more pricey than your standard leds just not a fan of hids but I see why people love em loving the ram content boosted keep it up 👌😎
Damn man You already had the headlights cracked open, should’ve just retrofit a morimoto projector, hands down craps all over leds and hids in the Ram projectors. More expensive yes but waaaay worth it I’ve tried all 3.
I have the same brand leds on my 2016 Laramie but have them set at 9 & 3 no dead spots and go well with the c6s fog lights you recommended on the OG 4gen that you had before.
Like it’s been stated before your leds are in the wrong position. Also no matter what hids will always be brighter. I just bought $35 led for my ram with projectors and have no complaints yet
Nice video. Surprised about the amount of hardware you need to remove to change a light bulb. Guess it takes at least one engineer to change this light bulb. 😀. The evolution of led has been amazing over the past decades. From small indicator lights to room and car lights. Would be interesting if a filament led bulb for cars would be developed. However, by the time that is finished there may not be a market for that anymore, since all cars have oem led lights.
base vehicles don't usually come with LEDs, and there are many used cars on the roads now that prices have gone up across the board. People are keeping their cars longer than in the past; these filament shaped LEDs would be an option for those owners (including me)
I think the halogens put out more even light. The halogens even looked like they projected further down the street. If you look at the garage door at the end of your street it's lit up with the halogens, but not with the LED's.
That's probably because of the color. People love to throw those blue lights in their cars but it's completely wrong for the job. The shorter wavelength causes blue to scatter more, this is why the sky looks blue. So less of the light those bulbs send out makes it back to your eyes. Blue also washes out detail. There's a ton of research showing that 3,500k-4,300k is the optimum range for human vision. But people worry more about what looks cool than what does the job better.
same problem here. We have an 07 grand caravan with the led upgrade. Fully upgraded led everything. Same issue with the headlights. Except I bought a 4 sided bulb, same issue with foglights. I didnt check to see if the foglights have an adjustment but Ill have to see if the headlights do. Ive read that its suppose to be the opposite way. The 2 led chips should be on the left and right side instead of up and down. Its looks fine outside of the headlight assembly but when you put it in its totally different.
Use LIGHT MOSES brand LED BULBS. They have a complete 360° LED'S all the way around the tip of the bulb to make the same coverage as a Halogen bulb. And they work great in Projector type housings or even in Reflector housings.
Tks for the info...I have a 2015 Ram 1500 and i have an issue of my right side head light tracking off to the right...I'm not sure what bulbs or lens are in the truck..as of now but I will be digging in to it asap...but thanks for the heads up on where to start....
Just put a good set of led foglights in with your projector low beam leds and you will be fine..ive done this for 40k and had no issues.. I do 75% of my driving after dark, photo sensitivity as well as a far sight stig and its very comfortable. Ive almost crutched myself on my truck and cant drive anybody elses after dark...If your worried about people flashing you, having both fog and lows with led cut down on the blinding effect. It would take one ocd picky person to complain about the light spectrum in thus situation. This is however a great video to explain the coverage and light density
You should give the new DDM Tuning Saber ProX 55 watt Accu/V2 a try. They’re $190, but they replicate the original projector beam pattern and lux output parallels HID lux.
Also they didn't work without my Ani flicker mogule, canbus corrector. The old style doesn't come with canbus corrector so I bought a set. Worked perfect. The new style comes with canbus corrector, but as expected they didn't work. Plugged in my old corrector and anti flicker then worked perfect after that. Remind you these were on my 15 ram with mirror style headlights.
I bought the same brand Auxito LED from Amazon and installed in 2012 Lexus IS250. There are dead spots exactly like what you had in your truck. Even the led labeled as 400x brighter. I think only good for reflection headlight. Not satisfied with the result, maybe prefer the ultra bright Halogen bulbs.
My case is on a different vehicle, a 2017 Highlander and with similar LEDs ( smaller in size than most ) made by CLD and the model is called “ ONE “. I also have OEM headlight housings and low beam projector. I made the mistake of messing around with the headlight housing up and down aiming on a previous install. I’m pretty sure the beams are aimed too high. The suggested beam distance for a low beam is around 130 feet but these new LEDs shine great up to somewhere around 180-200 feet. The issue is there is better than the old halogens light from about 10 feet in front of the vehicle but it looks like I have a shadow right in front of each projector for about 20 feet and about 2 feet wide. I’ve marked off the proper beam height at 25 feet on a wall at work and tonight I’ll try to adjust the beam down maybe 1 or two inches on my break. If the beam pattern gets worse on the drive home I’ll remember to count how many counter clockwise turns I made and either turn it back halfway clockwise or do another couple turns down. As long as I get between 130-140 feet of good down road beam pattern and hopefully those dim spots reduce to nothing or at least less than 4 or 5 feet I’ll be okay because the halogen low beams even when new were pathetic.
I have pros and cons on LEDs in projector lights, I put NAO EVO LEDs into a 2015 Silverado 3500HD with projector lights and they are amazing, I run NAO in 3 different trucks and light output is amazing, I only buy NAO and Lasfit. I put Lasfit LEDs into my aunt's 2005 Subaru with projector lights and the passenger side projector is dim while the driver side is bright. It's frustrating and I don't know if anyone else has had one projector not put the light out.
Check to make sure the projector is in adjustment or aimed correctly. Projectors have a reflector behind that thick lens, and just like aiming or adjusting headlights the projectors reflection device needs to be centered in its dome lens. Otherwise especially with those thick glass lenses it won't allow the light to fully go forward making it appear to be dim. Ever notice when approaching extremely bright lights at night and when they get really close the lights seem to almost lose their brightness? It's because as you approach your eyes focus is basically going to the side of the dome of the glass projector. meaning your eyes are moving away from the focus of the projector. Make sense I hope!?
Just a quick FYI. It's not necessary to remove the grill to pull the headlight housing. It's just a 10mm for the top and bottom bolt and the clip in the wheel well access and your good to go. Cheers!
I'm a bit confused...is there a separate low beam bulb or just the 1 LED that does both hi and low? I noticed you didn't do a hi beam low beam comparison?
True. Got a brand new pair of LED’s installed this afternoon and the installer suggested I upgrade my stock halogen fogs to leds. I declined not only because I prefer the LED Headlight/Halogen Fog Light color contrast but also lower output bulbs like the oem halogens operate better in foggy conditions. I’m not exactly sure why they discontinued the option but one of the main reasons 90’s & early 2000’s Lexus vehicles were built with stock French yellow fog lamps was because they illuminate road markings better when driving in fog. He also told me that there’s now an orange fog lamp craze currently happening and asked if I wanted to try them. I’m about to research that but either way good stuff man 👍🏽
I have a 2007 Lexus ES350. I am looking for a complete led assembly. Have not seen any the don't need major modification to go from HID to LED. My HIDs are all broken.
Both your HIDs and the LEDs are a 1000x better than my 2013 Ram 6.7 projectors. I live out in the farmlands and had to put a light bar on to see better. What HIDs are you using? Dave
I just checked my new LEDs in my Taurusaurus They have a set screw but are factory set 😩 I used the paper to sight them by twisting the lamp in the opening on the headlight assembly to get the best pattern which is a small slightly dark triangle at the bottom. We’ll see if stays that way during driving 🤔
on my type it's same but if i unscrew it plastic ring which locks it in housing can spin where i could carefully make another opening 45° over to get the desired opposite orientation
Agree, have a 17 Grand Caravan GT, recently installed LED's on the inner Daytime Running Lamp/High Beam side of the housing. However not a projector, I feel the LED bulbs are better suited in present position vs the actual side of lense for headlights!
Try the New 8-sided LED bulbs - I had the same issue on a Kia Soul with projectors - 20000lm no contest to the stock halogen - Glad I didn't waste the time on silverstar stuff that everyone pushed ..
You didn't even try adjusting them with the adjusting key that you mentioned having! Try to fine tune it and see if you can get the ideal pattern after? I've also seen some LED lights that are 3 sided not 2 sided that supposedly work best for projector lights
i just replaced my led kit I had for a while with a xenon hid kit and it is way better. beam is even and my highbeams are usable now. my housings have dual beam for the highbeam which was conveniently right in the deadspot for the leds which basically gave me no highbeam.
My humble opinion is, you could possibly improve the performance of the LEDs with allot of time adjusting and trying over and over, but I would have to agree that HID's would be the best option!
I agree hids are brighter, but every set I've bought over time take a dump in less than a year. Leds usually have a longer life span. I do miss my hids tho.
@@BoostedMotorsports it’s not going to move your dead spot, clocking them at 9 and 3 o’clock will widen the beam pattern. That’s why your beam is so far outwards and narrow because your light output is up and down, not side to side.
@@BoostedMotorsports it may not 100% eliminate the dead spots. but being top and bottom, the dead spot may be exaggerated as you tilt the beam up and down
Much nicer appearance but yes hate the blind spots of LED bulbs compared to HIDs.. but same time I hate the bulk ballasts with HIDs.. going to go with LEDs until my new AlphaRex projector g2s come in
You can only put these in the projector style headlamps. In the regular open housings an LED will flood the roadway with light and blind oncoming traffic. And yes they need to be mounted with the LED vertical. When you install them clocked like you did, is why you have that dead spot! I installed these on my 13 Explorer and my Motor Home, both of which have projector headlamps. The difference is amazing. Like driving a new car.
Incorrect. Maybe this brand of bulb or style of led with the diodes at the end of the bulb but I can assure you I put better quality LEDs installed correctly in reflector housings with no blinding results. Of course they were installed in European reflectors which have a projector style cut off, but again, we never got flashed with them.
Wrong! There are 2 reasons any headlight blinds oncoming traffic and this is because the Headlight housing reflectors are not aimed correctly, or 2ndly most people have the deer in the headlights syndrome, where they aren't smart enough to look away and look down at the white fog line on the right at the end of their hoods. Most people don't even realize headlights are not aligned or out of adjustment or that they can be aimed or how to adjust them. Every owners manual has the same exact procedure explaining the step to adjusting headlights. It uses two measurements. the measurement away from a vertical white surface is always 25 feet. the 2nd measurement depends on the vehicle. You get that by finding the tiny clear aiming dot in front of the dim bulb on the housing lenses. Measure from the ground up to the dot in the dim side of the lenses and do to the wall or vertical surface 25 ft. away in front of car and put a strip of tape at that measurement and do the same for the other side then go find the adjustment screws under the hood on most and turn them until the beam is centered on each piece of tape. You may not get blinded but most times when you meet a vehicle and notice one looks like its brighter than the other until they get to within maybe 3 or 4 car lengths distance from you when they look like they are the same brightness, that would be lights out of adjustment. Chris priestly is also correct!
55w 4k to 6k HlD's are super bright , some 35w HiD's & LED's are bright . don't get me wrong , but all depends or the brand . 55w stock are beautiful as well .
Not sure if this is in the comments, the alignment is completely wrong. the LED Chips HAVE TO BE on 9 and 3 Oclock. Check out Headlight Revolution's clocking for LED bulbs in reflector and projector housings. I have projectors with similar bulbs and the light pattern is perfect, and mine are clocked correctly.
Jon, if this was my truck, I'd go with the NIGHT RUNNER black headlight that has a big reflector. I got a friend with those same black projector headlight kit & LED as well. He wasn't happy with beam pattern. My friend saw a truck with the Night Runner package & got those big black headlights. Boy was he happy with new lights along with LEDs. That light pattern is bright & wide to see with. I see many people go buy those aftermarket projectors because it looks good on the vehicle. But when they see how bad the beam at night, they are not happy with choice they made. Then they go back to originals lights & the beam is much better. I hear many bad stories with either factory or aftermarket projector lights. In my opinion, I 'd go with with a headlight that has a big reflector for better beam pattern. You could make a comparison on video for other to witness with.
I have a 2012 Nissan Maxima that comes stock with HID low beams and halogen fog lights and high beams. Also, it is worth mentioning that I bought this same brand and the packages I got suggest the lights shining in the 3 o'clock 9 o'clock positions (opposite to the orientation shown in the video) and that works perfect for reflector housings. It has no dead spots at all and looks like a giant flashlight down the road instead of two cone beams that overlap
@on-wl4yu I'm not too sure about that, to be honest. My HIDs lasted up until a deer jumped out and totaled the car last week. Although they were definitely dimmer than they used to be but they were still bright. I'm not sure how to clock them, though. The LEDs just had to have the diodes facing a certain way when twisted in, but they locked in solid and didn't have any other way to be adjusted. As far as I know, my car didn't have a way to adjust the HID bulbs either, other than maybe minute adjustments by just forcefully moving them by hand after they were tightened down, but I don't recommend that because it could break the bulb very easily
Alla Lighting are the best, I've tried most of the junk LEDs out there and Alla Lighting seriously are the best AND they're under $100 for the top of the line FL-BH
A few problems here. One, the led chosen is terrible. The diodes are near the end of the "bulb". Put then next to the halogen bulbs and you'll see the filament is much lower in comparison. Two, installed wrong. The diodes should be on the sides and not up and down. Of course not all projectors are the same, and you may need to adjust depending on application, but halogen projectors almost always tend to be with the diodes on the side for best light pattern. And finally those seem like cheap no names. I had a 2008 MX5 with projectors. I put LEDs that mimic the filament position of halogen bulbs. I had a few blind spots right in front of the car installed correctly with diodes on the sides. For such a low to the ground car, those spots were meaningless as I couldn't see them from the driver seat. I got a new 2019 MX5 with oem LEDs. My 2008 was brighter output. The both had the same distance. The 2019 is more uniform and no blind spots. I never got flash in my 2008 but my 2019 I do but only going over bumps or inclines. For reference I used Hikari Ultra H7 bulbs. Hikari has since come out with a newer bulb in 2020 that claims to be even brighter with better pattern.
I put LEDS in my projectors and they are not good at all. The stock halogens put out way more light. I also put the LEDS in the high beams and fogs which look really good, but not in the low beams. Kinda surprised at how weak they are in the low beams. I have HIDS on my other car and they blow away the LEDS with light output.
man I want to tell you I absolutely love your channel and as soon as I get paid next week I'm going to pay the monthly fee. Did these bulbs end up throwing any codes? I know you said that on the box they mentioned they would not throw codes but I wondered what your experience was because I did not hear.
Thanks Gary! I would go with the HID kit that we show in the low beam projectors its a brighter setup! Check out the follow up vid we did to this one! 💪
I have these exact bulbs in my ram and have none of the issues you have I’m guessing because I installed mine differently then you did. I also have these lights in my high beams and my fog lights. Maybe you should have tried rotating them you know using that Allen wrench that comes with the bulbs but you didn’t even try to adjust them you just assumed that you did it correctly.
Would have been nice if you walked back and forth between bulbs blocking one at a time for an additional and nearly immediate isolated comparison but I liked the video even without that. Thank you.
Light with a slightly yellow color, like you find in standard halogens, supposedly produces more clarity than light with a more white color, and especially more than lights with a bluish tint. Supposedly this is why the headlights in so many police cars have a yellowish color.
Because those police cars are older. I promise you any brand new squaad today is built with factory LEDS. Incandescent bulbs are on their way to being history.
Most importantly, you changed the beam pattern so you need to aim your headlights properly. A-holes that install aftermarket LEDs without aiming headlights are the reason everyone is blinded on the road
Most leds need to be at the 3 and 9 o clock position in the projector and reflector housings. And if you adjust and aim your lights correctly with any bulb you use you won’t blind any oncoming traffic.
Well you gotta go with a reputable led. Can’t just stick some ebay brand in there and expect them to have great light out put. Try some morimoto’s or gtr lighting
It looks good 👍 I take those over halogens the brand is pretty good but I use sealights brands in all my cars and there bright and you get 360 lighting 👌🏽
I actually wear my sunglasses when I drive at night because it's so bad. i keep putting them on and taking them off reason. It's so irritating that the auto companies are creating all of these problems for us and calling it red tape when really they have so much power & can implement this immediately if they actually wanted to. More car wrecks equals more car sales. How about adaptive windshield tinting technology or just a divider that's high enough to block the lights on highways and freeways? Obviously that's not going to work everywhere but it could work in a lot of places.

Exactly
This is the truth. They may claim 360° illumination but clocking properly at 3 & 9 is necessary.
For while i m also thinking like that🤔
I have mine installed the same way in my Yukon for the headlights, high beams, and fog lights, and I agree, LEDs point left and right versus up and down.
Correct 3and 9 position..just did a 2015 srx..

Why would anyone do 12 and 6? Wtf. That doesn’t even make sense
@@BoostedMotorsports Did it work better at 3n9?
I have these in my 2016 Elantra GT low beam with projectors and my results with them at 9 / 3 (Factory ) was amazing . No dark spots and they have DOT approved on them . I’ve had them since Mar. 2020 . Clocking them differently may help . I’ve already seen HID vs LED .
How u put them 9/3 i think is hard to tell if they are 9/3
@@nicknick6960 They are set in the 9 - 3 o’clock .
@@Mr.Worf63 not for projector headlights reflector yes. Also u have to lock them in place and they go up and down not 9/3
@@nicknick6960 No , they lock in at 9/3.
Agreed we did the same with our Mercedes AMG C350 and they are amazing. Only downside is people flashing me now.
@@dennishayko1289 If people are flashing you then there is something incorrectly. I would recommend to check the aim of the headlights
@@dennishayko1289 they’re flashing you because you’re blinding the shit out of everyone. Projector or not, you’re probably glaring like crazy
Thanks for all your suggestions. Appreciate it.
The bulb might have better light output if you Adjust the bulb vertical instead of horizontal. Most manufacturers recommend they be vertical.
Any advice for orienting 3 sided LED bulbs? My low beams use 2 LEDs and the high beam kicks on the 3rd LED.
They obviously will be brighter but unable to focus all that light where it needs to be. hope this helps,
I just put the same bulbs in.my 2019 Pacifica with projectors and absolutely love them super bright no dead spots
I put mine at 9 and 3 o'clock
I put Auxbeam F-16 Plus LED's in a 2018 Ram 3500. Crap stock halogen non-projector reflectors. Turned night into day. You don't need an expensive housing. These bulbs rock. Adjusted down they do not blind oncoming traffic either.
Yeah, I think you're right, they are more suited to the reflectors.
LEDs will always perform better in a reflector type headlight than in a projector and that’s with ANY make of LED.
As mentioned before i just installed these in the 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock position, they work great.
I have the same brand leds on my 2016 Laramie but have them set at 9 & 3 no dead spots and go well with the c6s fog lights you recommended on the OG 4gen that you had before.
Are they projector lens?

Yea
Thanks brother I was actually considering doing this thank you for the video once again you’re awesome I appreciate all your videos
Im running leds on the low and fogs. Waiting on your vid to check out the hids!!! Great vid thanks!!
I'm curious, did you try different clocking positions of the LED bulbs? For example 90 degrees from how you installed them for this video.
Yes, I would've like to have seen that too.
same problem here.
Do they throw a code or are they Can bus compatible?
@@gary9182 For a 2020 Subaru Ascent Premium, the DDM bulbs do not give any error codes.
I have the same issue with auxito lights as well..
I was told by auxbeam the dark spot has to be verticle not horizontal. this is to prevent the hotspot on the ground like you had.
I’ve had good luck with the Auxbeam f16 plus. Crisp cut off line. Meant more for projectors..
I noticed you didn't do a hi beam low beam comparison?
fogs should be warm light or amber since lower frequency light penetrates fog and dust better. Bluer light scatters, hurts night vision, etc.
I’m about to research that but either way good stuff man 👍🏽
Thank you on your review. It was very helpful now I know what to do.
I think hid is better, lets see the comparison. I always want to try led in my rebel low beam
Dave
I just checked my new LEDs in my Taurusaurus
They have a set screw but are factory set 😩
I used the paper to sight them by twisting the lamp in the opening on the headlight assembly to get the best pattern which is a small slightly dark triangle at the bottom.
Awesome video… can replacing the halogen to led affect the computer?? Should we consider some resistance to be put in series
Where did you get the black headlight rings? Mine are chrome and they've got to go.
Auxito perfected the LED imo..have them in all my vehicles
Could you do an led and HID comparison?
I went w super bright halogens in my ram and they worked better than the led’s. I just put the led’s in the fog lights and it works great
Take the bulb out the chips should be on a 3 & 9 position when it's in the housing!
My humble opinion is, you could possibly improve the performance of the LEDs with allot of time adjusting and trying over and over, but I would have to agree that HID's would be the best option!
Yeah I’ll try reclocking these in the HID comparison but I think it will just move the dead spot
@@BoostedMotorsports it may not 100% eliminate the dead spots. but being top and bottom, the dead spot may be exaggerated as you tilt the beam up and down
I thought it was better to put hids in the projectors ? I’m running hids in mine and I love the light output
Yeah that was the conclusion I made years ago but everyone claims these new LED are 360* of light and are better...
@@BoostedMotorsports try out the underground lighting hids a little bit high on price but won’t disappoint
What are the best HIDs for projectors that you would recommend?
Have you had any problems like flickering with this brand ?

How long it lasts
I have a 2012 Nissan Maxima that comes stock with HID low beams and halogen fog lights and high beams. I was going to upgrade the HID to LED and orient them vertically but I saw a lot of reviews saying that it would cause the beam to have the opposite dead spots compared to this (bright on the sides and dim straight ahead). My HIDs have a slight blue tint that suck when it is wet out. Now my fog lights travel as far as the low beam while giving the golden glow to show the wet roads better. I highly suggest that strategy if you have projector low beams but reflector fog/high beams
How do you properly clock hids?
Did these throw a “bulb out” code on the dash? Or are they good to go out of the box without using OBDLink?
... annd if you read the directions that come with the bulbs they advise a left-right orientation for proper beam pattern.
Thank you for explaining why not to use led's for projectors! Very good knowledge
And he installed the bulb wrong, the light is have to be reflected to the 9 and 3 on the projector
Not a huge HID guy but I use them for projector lenses
thanks for your video, bro, I'm tired of wasted money, ples tell me what affordable LED preferably 5500 for a solid white, for a projector housing?
I put LEDS in my projectors and they are not good at all. The stock halogens put out way more light. I also put the LEDS in the high beams and fogs which look really good, but not in the low beams. Kinda surprised at how weak they are in the low beams. I have HIDS on my other car and they blow away the LEDS with light output.
Replaced my HID's with these LED's on my '08 Jeep SRT8
Is it a bulb adjustment to get better pattern or do your headlights need adjusting or a little of both.
man I want to tell you I absolutely love your channel and as soon as I get paid next week I'm going to pay the monthly fee.
I put LEDs in my low beams. Didn't work so good on the high beam side
I have the same issue right now with Lasfit LED. Weird pattern in my projector. Trying 2 switch 2 HID now.
Hey I have projector head lights whats a good bulb for the turn signal?
I have these exact bulbs in my ram and have none of the issues you have I’m guessing because I installed mine differently then you did. I also have these lights in my high beams and my fog lights. Maybe you should have tried rotating them you know using that Allen wrench that comes with the bulbs but you didn’t even try to adjust them you just assumed that you did it correctly.
Cool vid but was looking for reviews on led projector bulbs not led bulbs (360) in projector headlight housings.
You do know that the grill doesn't need to be removed to pull the headlights. Save time and use an extension.
Most importantly, you changed the beam pattern so you need to aim your headlights properly. A-holes that install aftermarket LEDs without aiming headlights are the reason everyone is blinded on the road
Recorded horizontally😀👍
Id leave the back cover off the headlight housing. Cooling fans wont do much good when theyre enclosed in a tiny space.
Have you tried DDM Saber Pro X 55W or 50W ? They work in projector or reflector.
How well does the LED cooling fan work enclosed behind the cover?
Most leds need to be at the 3 and 9 o clock position in the projector and reflector housings. And if you adjust and aim your lights correctly with any bulb you use you won’t blind any oncoming traffic.
Very well done video! Great info, thanks!
Well you gotta go with a reputable led. Can’t just stick some ebay brand in there and expect them to have great light out put. Try some morimoto’s or gtr lighting
If it’s a projector then get lasfit la plus series. Works great
It looks good 👍 I take those over halogens the brand is pretty good but I use sealights brands in all my cars and there bright and you get 360 lighting 👌🏽
Hi, what is the paper or fillm you used to check dead spot on projector, it looks like film, appreciate if you can respond
So are you saying that LED's are the better bulb at 3 to 9 o'clock or get a HID bulb?
I cant get my LED HB3's to turn to the 3 and 9 position.. Any help?? I have tried to loosen the screws but nothing helps..TY
I agree LED have a lot of dead spots and bad high beams I’ve tried the top 3 brands & same results.
curious if the beam pattern is better if you had clocked the bulbs at 10 and 3
Have you done the HID vs LED comparison? If not, will you be doing it? I am very curious.
