I’ve been watching you for years, but now I have my husband invested too and he won’t let me watch one of your reactions without him 😆
Just rewatched this and I'm blown away all over again. The apes aren't just CGI, they're characters with depth and emotion. Caesar's struggle is heartbreaking, and Koba is the perfect villain. The action is intense, but it's the story that really stays with you. If you haven't seen this, do yourself a favor and check it out!
A lot of people dont know that Ash was the alpha ape from the first movie that the gorilla put in line for Cesar....it was so sad when Koba killed him/threw him off the balcony😩😩
Koba's one of the greatest villains ever! He's up there with Thanos, Killmonger, Loki, Ultron, and The High Evolutionary from Marvel, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Silva from Skyfall, Gen. Hummel from The Rock, Tavington from The Patriot, the Muto's from the 2014 Godzilla, and Feyd Rautha from Dune.
I think a detail (that someone told me after watching it for the first time) that I like that is not talked enough. Koba ends up dying in a similar way to Jacob from the previous movie. Hanging from a high location, look up at Ceasar, asking for help, Ceasar rejects them and screaming as they fall down. I also noticed last time I watched this movie. Koba hits a part of the construction and it wraps around him. He literally dies in a cage.
One thing i'll never get tired of thinking about with these movies: The names of Caesar and Cornelia's kids. Caesar's wife's name is Cornelia -> They name their little son Cornelius. Adorable. Love that. Caesar's mom's name was Bright Eyes -> They name their older son Blue Eyes. Heartbreaking. Devastating. Whoever thought of that I love you dearly.
MAURICE Evans - Dr. Zaius BUCK Kartalian- Julius Norman ROCKETT- Set Designer credits in the 1968 movie I wonder if there are more characters named in homage to the original
Anyone who watched the original with Charlton Heston movies, would never find themselves siding with the apes. They had to make almost every Human in these prequels into animal abusers, just to build sympathy for them. Going from this, to revising history and lobotomising humans.
2:15 "Die in the fighting" refers to human on human fighting, probably for resources. Resources that apes don't need so they kept away from those human conflicts. An important factor of this world is that the apes didn't destroy human civilization, humans did it themselves.
This movie is a perfect example of theres no black & white good vs evil. Just completely different upbringings. Koba only knew pain and suffering and torture from humans. Cesar, despite knowing the ugly side of humans, also learned to behave and to love and be compassionate from them. Even though Koba was manipulating the apes and committed awful acts of treason, you can still understand how he would go down that path
CANNOT WAIT for your War of the Planet reaction!! Great video as always, you always know how to keep us engaged with your thoughts. This is my favorite trilogy ever and I hope by the end of the journey, it's yours too.

You can't just disrespect Gary Oldman like that. Commissioner Gordon and Zorg both survived the apocalypse .
Please trust the original. It’s a staple of classic science fiction and don’t underestimate it either. Great reaction 👍🏽. This is my favorite franchise and I love seeing people be introduced to it through this great trilogy.
This takes place 10 years after the last one.
Love the back and forth between you and your editor 😂 it's always so funny, never stop
War for the planet of the apes is the greatest piece of cinema ever made
Thank you! I think it’s incredible! Rise is good don’t get me wrong but both Dawn & War take the series to a whole new level!! Both of them are fantastic films with amazing performances!!
@@Adrianne519 I know right
But so hard to watch. I couldn't handle seeing Caeser and the apes like that.😭
This is what makes movies so goddamn magical. What a cast. What a story. (P.S., love your videos, Alex. Cheers 'til next time, man.)
The first frame of this film is Caesar in his jungle with face paint (full ape) the ending frame is Ceasar in the City with no face paint (becoming more like humans)
The editor getting more and more screen time is my favorite 😂
Can’t wait till Alex meets Bad Ape in the next one 😂
Realize who glasses is right? Commissioner Gordon. Sirius Black, Dracula, Zorg.
Being on YT for years now and im quite confident you've got one of the best editors i've seen 👍
I just watched these films for the first time recently myself, and this was my favorite one! I thought all three were really good, all three really moved me, but ultimately if I had to pick one favorite this would be it.
Love your reactions Alex! I’ve been watching you for years, but now I have my husband invested too and he won’t let me watch one of your reactions without him 😆
He's gonna bust when he watches war of the planet of the apes
Props to Andy Serkis, best motion capture actor to ever live.
Ngl the "Caesar, let him go!" was powerful, it could have been part of the scene
"relapetionships".... Omg you're such a dork.. and I LOVE IT
Dawn is my favorite of the trilogy and it’s not even close the tone the character arcs the war it’s just so good
A lot of people dont know that Ash was the alpha ape from the first movie that the gorilla put in line for Cesar....it was so sad when Koba killed him/threw him off the balcony😩😩
I love these films so much. The actors behind the apes are so good you forget they aren’t real.
Maurice , the Orangutan, was a callback and homage to the original movie. Dr Zauis, the Minister of Science, was played by Maurice Evans.
i love it how he predicted most of the movie within around 10 minutes
love your intro song. i keep rewinding it. granted i may be "happy" but it's always been a fun song to dance to.
The third one is awesome too. They just nailed these movies!
Koba's one of the greatest villains ever! He's up there with Thanos, Killmonger, Loki, Ultron, and The High Evolutionary from Marvel, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Silva from Skyfall, Gen. Hummel from The Rock, Tavington from The Patriot, the Muto's from the 2014 Godzilla, and Feyd Rautha from Dune.
cant wait for the next ape reaction, these movies are REALLY good, all of em. None is bad
36:02 Alex was on point predicting everything in this movie scary accuracy
@8:42 As the movie progresses, the submissive arm/hand gesture becomes more distant/cold
The original from 68 is legitimately awesome.
The quality of its sequels ranges from decent to needs drugs, however
Koba's entire argument falls apart when you realise that humans are also what allowed them to be so intelligent. Caesar is also "human work"
One thing i'll never get tired of thinking about with these movies: The names of Caesar and Cornelia's kids.
Caesar's wife's name is Cornelia -> They name their little son Cornelius. Adorable. Love that.
Caesar's mom's name was Bright Eyes -> They name their older son Blue Eyes. Heartbreaking. Devastating. Whoever thought of that I love you dearly.
That was so enjoyable, thank you Alex!
Alex not knowing “Glasses fuck” is Sirius Black is so funny
This movie has become a “timeless Gem”
The sheer number of things that you predicted in this movie? I'm impressed.
Just in case you didn't figure it out, "Glasses" is the same actor that played Serius Black.
"i do not want to see Caesar die, ever"
Me: uh.......
You should absolutely check out the original Planet of the Apes from 1968. Its phenomenal.
This movie was amazing. Got me choked up a few times and has some amazing one liners!
Petition to make Alex watch all Grievous scenes from the 2003 Star Wars the Clone Wars micro-series. Day 1
1968 is the reason all the rest of the supporting movies exist.
It's the ACTUAL Planet of the Apes movie.
Du -Mass.
It’s basically the world in these movies after thousands of years and I think that’s cool as fuck
MAURICE Evans - Dr. Zaius
BUCK Kartalian- Julius
Norman ROCKETT- Set Designer
credits in the 1968 movie
I wonder if there are more characters named in homage to the original
Anyone who watched the original with Charlton Heston movies, would never find themselves siding with the apes.
They had to make almost every Human in these prequels into animal abusers, just to build sympathy for them. Going from this, to revising history and lobotomising humans.
2:15 "Die in the fighting" refers to human on human fighting, probably for resources. Resources that apes don't need so they kept away from those human conflicts. An important factor of this world is that the apes didn't destroy human civilization, humans did it themselves.
Oooh I cant wait to watch this in the morning. It's gone 1am here in the UK so I need to sleep but will be avidly watching when I wake up🥳
Caesar aura is so strong
This movie is a perfect example of theres no black & white good vs evil. Just completely different upbringings. Koba only knew pain and suffering and torture from humans. Cesar, despite knowing the ugly side of humans, also learned to behave and to love and be compassionate from them. Even though Koba was manipulating the apes and committed awful acts of treason, you can still understand how he would go down that path
Caesar: "Ape, Did This"
Alex: "Wasn't The Humans. It Was That Scumbag Taco" 😂💀
CANNOT WAIT for your War of the Planet reaction!! Great video as always, you always know how to keep us engaged with your thoughts. This is my favorite trilogy ever and I hope by the end of the journey, it's yours too.
This is such a great movie. Even a fifty-year-old mama like me has a secret Planet of the Apes revival addiction. This movie is close to perfect.
