The reason Norm is pissed at Jake at first when he's chosen is that he literally trained for years to take on the role, but Jake just gets it by chance. It's like someone with a high education loses a job they're fully qualified for to a high school dropout, that's probably the best comparison I can make lol. It's a shame Norm's entire character arc got cut out, but you can't still find the clips on TH-cam.
Good explanation for Norm's behavior,I would've been PISSED too !!! LOL.Didn't know there cut scenes for Norm's character.I think Avatar 2 is gonna ROCK !!! Cameron doesn't make &&&&& films, they may be BORING like Titanic, but not &&&&&& !!
Norm and Jake provide an important contrast. Norm, on paper is a better human ambassador to the Na'vi than Jake. He's highly educated and knowledgeable about the Na'vi, he's practically been bred and trained for his role. However, as the Na'vi would say, "his cup is already full". Jake, while being ignorant has a child-like sense of wonder and openness- he's "like a child". Norm, like Grace and unlike the Quaritch and Selfridge's, has his heart in the right place so he does realise he has to step outside his passive role as a scientist and violently resist the colonization of Pandora.
This movie is probably the *only* movie that was drastically elevated by being in 3D, and in the theater. It was an "experience". It is the only movie in my 40 years that I have seen more than 1x in a theater (saw it 4x).
The 3D was amazing!!! 😭 So much depth and life added to the story, and as far as I remember, no gimmicky things flying out of the screen at you like so many movies at the time did.
The same actress plays Neytiri also plays Gamora in the Guardians of the Galaxy (Zoe Saldana) - which gives her the distinction that she's been both blue and also green in her two biggest roles.
The linguists also modeled the pronunciation/accents for the Na'Vi language based on how she spoke it as she was the first to learn it for the film and she has the most lines of it.
Lol. I know! I tried to recall what other movies/shows I've seen him in, and after some amount of effort, all I could think of was *_"Sky Captain And The World of Tomorrow,"_* and *_"Saving Private Ryan,"_* and like you, I would have not made the connection that he was also _"Phoebe's"_ _brother_ in F.R.I.E.N.D.S., and it's not as though he has a particularly easy-to-forget kind of face nor does he seem to actively try to act as inconspicuously as possible in his roles....
They are actually re-releasing this in theaters in the build up to the sequel later this year! Its remastered to be more HD like we are use to now so you can totally get the movie theater experience!
I thought Avatar was a decent movie. I just have to give Zoe Saldaña major major credit for being absolutely amazing. She's in Star Trek, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers and Avatar. These top major franchise movies, and some bad ass ones on the side. She's killing it.
I loved the reaction. The movie is sooo great and it's rare to see someone see it for the first time nowadays. But to borrow your own terms; it really triggers me that you didn't immediately know Sigourney Weaver from Alien. Another movie series to add to your watchlist, Alex! 😁
I like to see people first time reaction of it but at the same time I wish they could experience in theaters for the first time it’s truly nothing like it.
This movie is one of the best 3D movie I have ever seen. Most other 3D movies just make a gimmick of throwing things in the face of the viewer. But this one went the other way, they gave depth to it. It was a true experience. Even if it is a simple story, it still went soo high in just immerge you in the world. Looking forward to seeing the next film later this year.
I still think 3D is mostly a gimmick, but I will say that this movie was the best I've seen for 3D effects. They didn't just use it for a cheap laugh or whatever, there was actual thought behind how to make each scene work in 3D.
Oh man, there was a scene at the beginning in a room that showed the depth of the room and that was so much cooler than things coming at me. Same thing happened with the rear view mirror in the mech suit. So cool.
@Latest Obsession I mean the second movie will probably blow our minds just like the first one did its crazy to think that the first movie was released in 2009 like jesus how was that even possible.
Yh but still insane how good the quality of the movie was compared to the other movies at that time i saw the movie in theaters with my dad i was 10 at the time and for some years after i thought that it was filmed on some other planet and it was real also it didnt help that my dad told me thats how it was filmed...
People who call it overrated have not seen this on Big Screen. If they had, they would call it a masterpiece. This was the highest grossing movie in the history for a reason people!!
This movie was and still is the best use of modern 3D I have ever had the pleasure to experience. Where most films use it to 'throw things at you', Avatar used it to give so much depth to every scene it was present. It really was amazing.
Love the fact that Joel David Moore who appeared in many Bones episodes had a scene where he went to queue for tickets to see Avatar….at the time didn’t know he was in it
Never thought I would hear the question "Is Avatar overrated?" Lol. I personally don't think it's as bad as people say it is, so I would say it's underrated.
@@alexhefnerstvmovievault it is amazing. But honestly, little more than a master class on The White Savior trope. The message is touching and the delivery is simple enough, like the beat of a pop song, to stay with you for ages.
@Latest Obsession The world building reminds me of something out of an early '00s sci-fi game, though. Never understood why people think it's so "great". Everything but the CGI, in my opinion, was pretty lackluster. Probably going to end up being the same with.... Water-something, something-of-Water -- can't remember the second one's sub-name.
@Latest Obsession if i had to guess will move back in to the number one spot all time at least its was just the perfect storm of 3D tickets costing more boosting numbers james cameran and word of mouth as it was a visually beautiful movie but plenty of movies that are maybe fun but not good make shitloads of money like the fast and furious movies. if you want action car porn they are fine but is anyone calling FF7 the best movie ever made (or wtvr one paul walker died during).
Lol you said 'people in the medical field say the weirdest stuff' and it's so TRUE. I've been to doctors a lot and the nurses/technicians that stick you with the needle always get excited over 'juicy' veins. The first few times it's a little jarring when they like stroke your hand and say 'That's real nice vein, it's gonna be nice to poke.'
26:47 I saw this movie in Imax 3d when this first came out, and at this scene, I was literally "taken out of the movie" because I thought there was actually dust floating down from the ceiling of my theatre. The first, and frankly ONLY, time a 3D scene has had this effect on me. I miss that kind of movie magic, and I hope the sequel does something special like this.
WOW.What an experience !!! I only time I had an experience like that, was in France and i was SMOKING something !! ( won't say what tho) what HAPPENS in France, stays in France. LOL.
They actually shot Avatar with native 3D cameras thats why the experience is so unique to any other 3D movie. Other movies are shot in 2D and converted in 3D which really isn’t real 3D it shouldn’t even be called 3D. That’s why the “3D” demand died out because it never truly were 3D. It’s a treat to have an Avatar 2 coming this December and a sequel every other year following.
Really late to this, but found it looking through Avatar: Way of Water reactions. Love the reaction dude, seriously. I love this movie, the world that was created, the culture, creatures, everything. It's a huge inspiration artistically to me as well. Also to answer an question you had early on. They actually made a language for the Na'vi. And there's a full guide on how to learn the language. They brought in lead language specialists and all sorts to create it.
The images of the remastered version look awesome. When it's back in theaters I'm going to watch this again in IMAX 3D, moving seats and whatever immersive options I can find.
i think one of the best theaters is the imax at the Hollywood chinese theater it has the moving seats imax ect , though i wonder if they would do something for VR
"Dances with Smurfs" My adult kids took me to see this when it was in theaters. I was so blown away by the effects, cinematography, music, etc. that I wanted to see it again in 2D on a small screen to see if I still enjoyed it. I watched it a few months later on a flight to the UK, and yes, I still enjoyed it without all that spectacular.
Alex: You have nailed the niche on reactions in my mind. Since you've gone to film reactions from music, you have somehow become more enjoyable. Keep it up my guy!
This movie has a story line almost exactly like Dances With Wolves. Alot of similarities. I saw it multiple times when it came out including 3D. If it gets released in the theater you need to see it on big screen and booming sound effects. It really is a phenomenal movie.
Which is why I always referred to this film as "Dances with Smurfs". It is just a badly written version of the age-old "white messiah" story. It is a technically brilliant film but it needs much better writing and acting to be a good film. So, yes, it's hugely overrated.
James cameron wrote the script back in the 90's when I'm assuming all of dances with wolves and pocahontas but as I can recall he wrote the script before one of these other movies were made but couldn't make it cause he is a visionary 😭😭😭,I don't want no smoke or argument that's just how I see it ,I never gotten to watch any of the other movies avatar was inspired from but I'm comfortable with just watching avatar since it's similar to it
The tough girl was Michelle Rodriguez of Fast & Furious fame. Stephen Lang played the Colonel. The film is going to be re-released in theatres before the sequel is released. So, look for it. Never underestimated James Cameron. He waited 10 years to make this because the technology hadn`t caught up to him. I think it was worth it. The sequel probably will be too. This is the film that made Me buy My first Blu-Ray Player. I just had to have this film is the highest quality after I saw it in theatre. They`re also releasing the 4K by year`s end. I don`t know how they can make this look any better.
There is literally no better experience ever than watching this in imax 3d. It still sticks with me today. Nothing comes close. Can’t wait for the sequel
Would love to see your reaction to Ferngully after this. Hits "Deforestation is bad" a hell of lot harder, in my opinion. This is pretty destructive and all but..more drama.
Avatar will always be special to me because it was directed by one of my favorite directors. But more importantly it was the last film i went to the theater with my dad before he past. So yeah.. Also this movie was absolutly gorgeous in 3D. Blew my mind.
I loved this movie so much. Going from the start where you kind of side with the military and their stance on the Na'vi to at the end like Alex was cheering for their downfall as you want to see the Na'vi protect their home. I've been waiting forever for this sequel to come out
For me, it was a movie that they could have over complicated the story but you would have focused so much on that that you miss the beauty of it or you focus so much on the beauty that you can't follow the story... they weighed it all perfectly well.
The Pandora Park at Disney World's Animal Kingdom is not huge but is awesome at night with special effect lighting like the nights on Pandora, glow in the dark plants mixed in with real plants, floating rocks, etc. The canteen has weird fun food and the two rides are gorgeous and immersive. If you love the movie, put it on the list.
I saw this in theaters and it was STUNNING. The glowing jungles, the landscapes, the action, in IMAX and 3D, it was definitely an experience. I love this movie and will defend it to anyone, for all the reasons you listed.
Yay!!! Although it hurts my heart a little when someone watches avatar for the first time and its not in an imax cinema - nothing gets even close to this experience
I seen this in the theaters after it was out about a month or more. I never seen a preview, but kept hearing about the hype. One day after work, traffic was bad, so I got out of it and decided to go to the theater and caught the early showing in 3d to kill a couple hours. Had the theater to myself and no expectations. To this day, I've yet to have a movie effect me or draw me in as much as this one did. The goose bumps kept coming for me as it did you. The 3d, CGI, sound stage, story, everything was just so good. I sat there another 5 minutes after the credits just reflecting on it. I can't wait for the sequels to start next month. I really hope it isn't a let down, but I fear it will be because I now have HUGE expectations unlike my first viewing of this one. This movie was so unique and technically advanced at the time. Hopefully the sequels will be just as cool. James Cameron invented brand new machines and techniques just for the sequels. I'd love to experience that 1st viewing feelings again.
9:42 That close up shot of the animal was the main reason that I became interested in VFX. It was mind blowing in 2009 on the big screen and I just wanted to learn how the hell they made something look that real. I know it's not THE best effect, but it still stays in my brain.
I still remember seeing this movie in theaters with my dad when it was first screening, was one of the first films to ever leave me speechless, the scenery, music, cinematography, and just overall world they created was truly astounding. The movie definitely gets clowned a bit nowadays for not being memorable/overhyped, but I really can't express how incredible this movie was when it first dropped.
I went to see this so many times in theaters. You're right, it was unreal. I even went when it came back to theaters early on. If you ever get to witness this on the big screen, do it.
Amazing movie. If you haven't seen it yet, I hope you watch Braveheart. It's my 2nd favorite movie of all time. It's amazing, bad-ass, a tear jerker. Great reaction.
Also, the reason to why the are looking for that mineral is because it helps them to navigate through space in advance space ships😅. That was the first reason, the second one is a liquid that stop you getting old and is obtained through the brains of Pandora’s version of whales.
James Cameron surprised all of us with Avatar. I almost couldn't attend the plot because of the visual effects: it was like a fantasy video game. The scenes with the flying animals reminded me of How to Train Your Dragon (another great movie that I hope you can react).
The story and messaging may not be an original, but it is well done and very enjoyable to watch - a visual masterpiece. As for the actress Sigourney Weaver, Alex you ABSOLUTELY MUST WATCH "Alien" & "Aliens". Make this happen soon.
Seeing this after it first came out was just SO cool with the FX, the neon colors, pretty much everything. The flying creatures they flew with are a type of Lizard for the most part. No bird of any kind lol. They to me in someways, looks a fair bit like your standard house chameleon, only with an upgrade. Sam Worthington who played Jake is an Aussie actor and has done some good films. You should check out- Clash of the Titans, Man on a Ledge, and The Shack. 😊
I'm so glad you liked this film! Unless I miscounted, I got you having 7 times getting goosebumps. I first saw this in the theater (not an IMAX) but I couldn't watch it with the 3D glasses on. The effects made me dizzy and gave me motion sickness, so I watched without. And I don't feel I missed anything by not using the glasses. This movie was so beautiful, and I loved the story! I didn't actually make the connection with Pocahantas, but I can see it now. Even still, I think this movie holds its own, because it is such a universal story. Europeans came over to the New World, did their best to destroy the indigenous people and take over the land to the point of destroying it. Humans are no different now than they were then, and according to this, we won't be any different in the future. And I can see that. We don't learn. We don't change. We feel entitled to anything we see, and we take it. Another thing that struck me, in the film, was that it was still relatively recent (8 years is still recent) since 9/11. I don't know if anyone else had the reaction I did, but watching that huge, beautiful tree come down immediately flashed the Twin Towers in my head and I was so devastated. That, plus knowing the connection that the Navi had with that tree was really hard to take. It would be wonderful if we, as humans, could learn to change and NOT be the destructors that we have been in the past. Loved your reaction, Alex!
you'd miss the opening scene amazement, not being in 3D the opening shot with the water drop above his head, in 3D, you look at this face, and then realise the focus and the what ??? and it's just amaze
I love this movie so much! The effects, the music, the acting, the character arcs, the depth and immersion of the 3D in theaters… A movie doesn't have to be complex or fully original to be enjoyable and emotionally compelling. I cry every time I watch it, but it's worth the sinus headache.
i’m rewatching your reaction rn and what how did you not watch the sequel yet!! its such a beautiful movie and really stepped up the game with the animation and storytelling, you HAVE to watch it!!
When "Dances With Wolves" came out, someone interviewed a Native American about it. He said that he didn't watch it, but he knew how it would go. He said, 'Let me guess, white man comes to the West and is on his own. Indians take him in and teach him their ways and he comes a better Indian than the native Indians. He then rallies the others and defeats his original people and lives the rest of his life as an Indian. That about right?' The interviewer couldn't say a word. Basically, that is the formula this movie used, but with better special effects.
I love this movie. Saw it when it first came out in 3D three times, then saw it in theatres last year when they re-released it, still awesome in 3D. This hits every emotional beat for me, and the story is satisfying. The scene where Neytiri sees Jake in his human form for the first time, gives me chills. The CGI interacting with Sam Worthington is flawless, it blows my mind every time. The music is amazing too. A 10 out of 10 movie, for sure.
This movie is in my top 10. With that said, I do know that this movie is a hybrid mix of: Pocahontas / Dances With Wolves, the Last Samurai, Tarzan, kind of the Matrix (being plugged into a program of sorts). People say this movie can’t be made solely by CGI, true. The soundtrack is bomb too! The acting is great, it all wraps up into an amazing film!
I will say I think that I'm due for a rewatch on this movie. It's been a while since I've seen it but I remember going to see this in theatres when it came out with my girlfriend in an IMAX theatre. I admit that it was absolutely one of the most amazing spectacles I've ever watched. As far as the story goes I get why people say it's Pocahontas with blue people while I do disagree I feel there's a lot more going on with the story and the characters are very well written.
What the fuck kinda question is that?! Of course not! It's incredible! It's beautiful! It's Cinematic! It's PERFECT! And I can't wait to see the sequels.
lol is avatar "even good" it is a masterpiece of film making it makes other cgi movies look like they were drawn with crayons... can wait for new avatar movie at end of this year....a thing a lot of people do not see is the parralell between what they are doing on pandora wrecking the earth and destroying the balance.. we have allready done that and are continuing to do it on planet earth.. we are the ONLY Species that dose not live in harmony with the enviroment.
So I just feel that this needs to be said every time someone does a reaction video to Avatar. The movie was not intended to be viewed without 3D. It was designed from the ground up to be a showcase in what was the best 3D technology in the world at that time. It literally caused all major TV manufacturers to incorporate passive or active 3D technology into their first gen 240hz TVS. It’s part of the reason that there was a push to make the PS3 and PS4 compatible with 3D. The reason why this needs to be stressed is that nobody went to see Avatar for its story and plot. The entire movie is just a futuristic rehashing of Disney’s Pocahontas. There was zero brain candy in Avatar. That being said, I still loved it and was in awe of it because it was a technological 3D marvel. If you didn’t watch it in 3D as intended, then you really didn’t watch it at all. I’ve seen it in 3D and 2D. 3D is a rare experience that you will want to see again and again. 2D just looks and feels like a very cartoony, headache inducing, retread of dated plots and tropes.
Was lucky enough to see this in Imax 3D. Still one of if not the most incredible theatre experience of my life. If they re-release it I hope they throw in some of the deleted scenes from the Extended Edition...they really give you an even deeper understanding of everything going on.
This movie is the sole reason we had that 3D movie rage back in the 2010’s. This movie was shot for the purpose of seeing it in 3D and it was something special in theaters. Really did bring a whole other level to the movie.
There was a REALLY cool crossover type thing between this and the TV show Bones. The guy that plays Norm was a character on Bones. He was a huge nerd and so pumped to go see Avatar in theaters. He camped out in the line for the movie. Ended up missing it because when the line started moving he was in his tent with a girl lol.
I said to a friend who was sceptical about Avatar when it came out, "If a movie stirs up emotions like ANGER,😡 SADNESS 😢 & JOY 🤗 then it must be a good one... 😊
So, fun fact: an entire section of Disney's Animal Kingdom in Florida is Pandora-themed. It's amazing and was my favorite part of the trip my family took down there. Even the _line_ to the Flight of Passage ride is an experience in its own right, starting by going through the floating mountains and then deeper and deeper into the cave system, ending up at a human research facility, where you get "loaded into" an Avatar to ride on a Banshee. Oh, it is _so_ much fun! But the rides aside, they went all in on the decorations, and after the sun goes down, the entire area is lit up with backlights to look like the bioluminescence on Pandora. And the restaurant does some really fantastic mix-and-match fusion cuisine, working on the whole vibe of it drawing from the different culinary traditions of the science team it is serving. As for it being overrated, I was kind of on that wavelength with it when I saw it. Not that it was bad, or badly executed, but at the time... it just felt like it was a story we'd way too recently. Like, Pocahontas, Dances With Wolves, heck, even _Fern Gully_ were all of these "Ooooh... corporate greed and colonialism are the _real_ bad guys!" movies that we were still recovering from being saturated with even in 2009. The main _really_ new things that it had to offer were the visuals and the design of Pandora. With having had more time to decompress from all of that, I think that I can enjoy it much more now than I did when it originally came out.
Flight of Passage in the Animal Kingdom in Orlando is as close as we'll ever get to flying like they do. I literally cried the first time I rode it, it was exhilarating and beautiful 😍
27:12 The scene between Jake bonding with the Toruk is depicted in a stand alone comic book called "Avatar: Brothers". It was given out for free by Dark Horse Comics during Free Comic Book Day in 2017. Since then, it was added to the end of the trade paperback version of the six-issue "Avatar: Tsu'tey's Path" which depicts Tsu'tey's perspective during the film. Also, "Avatar: The Next Shadow" depicts events two weeks following the end of the movie. After that, there's a time jump to "Avatar: The High Ground" which depicts events prior and during the film "Avatar: The Way of Water", covering things that occurred during the one year gap. In Avatar's special/collector's edition, the story arc of Grace's school and tensions with the RDA and the Omatikaya clan are added back in. Accompanying this, is the comic "Avatar: Adapt or Die" which is a prequel that explores the creation of the school and the RDA poisoning the environment which eventually affected the Na'vi and Avatars, with Grace and Mo'at searching for a cure. It directly relates back to Selfridge's comments about how the humans tried to give the Na'vi roads, education, and medicine.
In case you missed THIS connection... the marine colonel also played the mouthy, but cowardly, Ike Clanton in Tombstone and the recent thrillers "Don't Breathe 1&2 AND... If you missed this connection, Norm also was J.P. in 'Grandma's Boy'...a Happy Madison production... an always overlooked comedy.

That's the protagonist power for ya
EEO, don't want to get a lawsuit 'cuz the crippled guy didn't get the job.
The thing is Jake could relate to the tribe in a way Norm could not because of his military background.
I went to see it-3 times.Did the same with-Infinity War,wanted to see it for a 4th time, but, was taken from the theatres.
Gravity as well was amazing in 3D
one of the few all right. But the only? ....
how to train your dragon?
The 3D was amazing!!! 😭 So much depth and life added to the story, and as far as I remember, no gimmicky things flying out of the screen at you like so many movies at the time did.
The same actress plays Neytiri also plays Gamora in the Guardians of the Galaxy (Zoe Saldana)
- which gives her the distinction that she's been both blue and also green in her two biggest roles.
hell yeah! she's great!
She was also in the first Pirates of the Caribbean film.
The linguists also modeled the pronunciation/accents for the Na'Vi language based on how she spoke it as she was the first to learn it for the film and she has the most lines of it.
@@MorbidCrow666 because he stole her boat! 🙄

_"...Phoebe's brother.."_ I don't know why I'd never realised it was the same actor 😂
Lol.
Same lol 😅
They are actually re-releasing this in theaters in the build up to the sequel later this year! Its remastered to be more HD like we are use to now so you can totally get the movie theater experience!
This news just made my day. I saw this film 8 times in theaters cuz it was just that mind blowingly beautiful. Can’t wait for the sequels.
oh shit that is incredible!! i can't wait to see that!
re re re releasing
@@alexhefnerstvmovievault haha no you must wait and do a reaction to the sequel 😄
@@alexhefnerstvmovievault I’d really pass on it. This movie is complete ass. Pocahontas in Space is all this is.
"all energies are only borrowed and one day well have to give it back" basically 2nd law of thermodynamics
She’s in Pirates of the Caribbean too 🙂
shes a great actress
Yeah,I bet those CHECKS ( or direct deposit) are HUGE !!! LOL.
Watch her in Columbiana... that's where I fell in love.
Did you just sat that a woman who is in Avatar is also in Avatar?
Also, Avatar sucked. Regardless of which actor is in it.
I loved the reaction. The movie is sooo great and it's rare to see someone see it for the first time nowadays. But to borrow your own terms; it really triggers me that you didn't immediately know Sigourney Weaver from Alien. Another movie series to add to your watchlist, Alex! 😁
HUH.What ??? Alex hasn't seen any Alien films ??? LOL.
Right!?! I'm almost offended he knows her from Holes and not Alien and Aliens 😆😂
First female action lead!
You know the thing about them reactors, man. They only discovered that movies exist since like, a year ago or something 😂
I like to see people first time reaction of it but at the same time I wish they could experience in theaters for the first time it’s truly nothing like it.
I know right
This movie is one of the best 3D movie I have ever seen.
They didn't just use it for a cheap laugh or whatever, there was actual thought behind how to make each scene work in 3D.
cant agree more i thing is the only movie i feel was worth watch8ng in 3d and im glad i did get the opportunity
I loved this movie in the theater...one heck of experience. And I still love it.
i can't wait to watch the re-release!
This movie was and still is the best use of modern 3D I have ever had the pleasure to experience. Where most films use it to 'throw things at you', Avatar used it to give so much depth to every scene it was present. It really was amazing.
Love the fact that Joel David Moore who appeared in many Bones episodes had a scene where he went to queue for tickets to see Avatar….at the time didn’t know he was in it
Really? That’s hilarious!
Never thought I would hear the question "Is Avatar overrated?" Lol. I personally don't think it's as bad as people say it is, so I would say it's underrated.
i would too! i just hear a lot of people claim it to be overrated!
Water-something, something-of-Water -- can't remember the second one's sub-name.
its a good movie but alot of people equate highest grossing all time with best movie ever made and it is very not that. its fine a fun watch.
That’s really cool!
Ditto!
They were talking about no glasses 3-D but i guess it's not here yet. Until then you'll have VR at home, it's gonna be on another level.
0:16 YAYYY DYLAN…Lol the fact that he had to right the “that’s not me”
6:57 can’t believe you described Ripley from Alien as “the warden from Holes.” Correct, but give Ripley her props.
Yes if he hasn’t seen those he needs to get on it
@@BertonMelch He would be jumping all over the place and I would enjoy watching that.😂😂

When it's back in theaters I'm going to watch this again in IMAX 3D, moving seats and whatever immersive options I can find.
i think one of the best theaters is the imax at the Hollywood chinese theater it has the moving seats imax ect , though i wonder if they would do something for VR
wow I want to do that too!
This film was so fantastic in the IMAX! Went 4 times.😂
Me TOO.Haven't seen it in IMAX-3D,moving seats, just in 3D.How much does it COST ???
Its almost a guarantee this will be re-released before the sequels are out. Going to be massive.
"Dances with Smurfs"
My adult kids took me to see this when it was in theaters.
This comment made my day! Thank you so much 🤘🏼🖤🙏🏼
He ai'nt wrong, bro. Been with ya for years. I became a patron when ya started movie reactions.
Having watched the Avatar about 10 times already, it still gives me goosebumps every time. Even watching this hacked-up-to-pieces reaction video.
Avatar II: The Way of Water finally hits theaters December 16 of this year. A long damn time to wait for the sequel.

I love this movie and cannot wait for Way of Water this Christmas!
Unironically underrated
i can't wait!
@@alexhefnerstvmovievault you should do a reaction to the trailer!
I've been waiting forever for this sequel to come out
For me, it was a movie that they could have over complicated the story but you would have focused so much on that that you miss the beauty of it or you focus so much on the beauty that you can't follow the story... they weighed it all perfectly well.
wow that is such a good way to explain the film! you're 100% right. couldn't have put it any better than that!
Absolutely love this movie. Can't wait for the sequel!
same!!!
Lmao made you wait like 20 yrs. Multi TOOL albums
So? How was Way of the Water? :D
I think knowing the themes aren't unique sets the right expectations of this movie. The presentation of the themes is what makes it impactful.
After 20 times watching this movie i recognize just now at 13:37 this animal is making exactly the same same sound from a Raptor in Jurassic Park.
I need the reaction to the second one if you haven’t seen it yet it’s amazing and if you loved this one you’d love the second one
There better be an Avatar 2 out soon 👹 it’s my favorite
Absolute banger love your movie reactions, you gotta post more On this channel keep on grinding brother !
I really love this movie. Definitely goosebumps just watching your reaction! Can’t wait for Avatar 2!
Dances with Wolves would be another movie that Avatar draws a lot of “inspiration” from…
And Pocahontas.
South Park lampooned Avatar with Dances With Smurfs, before Avatar came out.
Even Fern Gully.
Haha that’s what I said when I watched it -“Oh, this is basically Dances With Wolves”
I walked out for that exact reason. The plot is exactly like "Dances."
OMG!! He would love it!!!! And Gladiator.
What a joy it was to watch this through your eyes. ❤
I never watch movies more than once, but you made this so much fun, it was worth it.
You missed out on the 3D experience. It really added a lot of for lack of better word depth (no pun intended) to the experience. It was amazing
It's coming back to iMAX September 23!
Literally nothing has compared to experiencing the awe of this film in Imax. I can't wait to rewatch it when it rereleases.
Loved your reaction, Alex!
you'd miss the opening scene amazement, not being in 3D
the opening shot with the water drop above his head, in 3D, you look at this face, and then realise the focus and the what ???
and it's just amaze
ALEX IT'S BEEN 2 YEARS WHERE IS AVATAR 2???
I love this movie so much! The effects, the music, the acting, the character arcs, the depth and immersion of the 3D in theaters… A movie doesn't have to be complex or fully original to be enjoyable and emotionally compelling. I cry every time I watch it, but it's worth the sinus headache.
You should watch the new one that came out recently. Avatar: Way of Water
*Scrolling through the channel to find avatar 2*……Alex you mean to tell me that you haven’t seen Avatar 2 yet? 😩

Avatar is a master class on the White Savior trope.
Yep it's Space Pocahontas.
While they are both great movies and are movies I quite enjoy, they are both also exactly what you put.
Nothing Western audiences love more than stories that reaffirm their savior/conquer complex.
Reference please. Bullshit

Now you need to watch the way of water
Just a pretty looking retelling of Pocahontas...or Dances With Wolves...

Exactly!👍 Perfectly said.
Wow putting on a pedestal for animation lmao
So great to see you loving and enjoying this masterpiece so much.
I don't love the movie, but I agree with you 100%. This movie was meant to be seen in 3D.
Now you gotta watch the second movie aswell!
The extended cut is way better than the theatrical release. Adds more context to the world and characters. Love this movie, was part of my childhood
Yes! A movie doesn't have to be complex or fully original to be enjoyable and emotionally compelling 😊
Alex definitely needs to go give this a second watch when it re-releases in 4K HDR 3D in cinemas on September 23rd.
Flight of Passage in the Animal Kingdom in Orlando is as close as we'll ever get to flying like they do. I literally cried the first time I rode it, it was exhilarating and beautiful 😍
21:55 fact: tsu'tey did not love Neytiri in a romantic way, he was in love with Neytiri's sister Sylwanin but she died
James Cameron also wrote the first two Terminator movies (the good ones), so you could check those out sometime if you haven't before.
The avatar ride at Disney is so amazing!!! The whole avatar world there makes you feel like you’re there. My kids were freaking out.
Now just imagine watching it in theaters in 3D. It was freaking amazing
It directly relates back to Selfridge's comments about how the humans tried to give the Na'vi roads, education, and medicine.
definitely still one of my favourite movies, especially visually
In case you missed THIS connection... the marine colonel also played the mouthy, but cowardly, Ike Clanton in Tombstone and the recent thrillers "Don't Breathe 1&2
AND...
If you missed this connection, Norm also was J.P. in 'Grandma's Boy'...a Happy Madison production... an always overlooked comedy.
I'll give you this, the storyline is nothing new. But when you see this on a large screen. Every showing when this came out was full. It's gorgeous.

Imagine you'd seen this movie in cinema. In 3D. It's another step up the ladder... and was one of the reasons why it gained this much recognition.

My favorite cinematic experience for sure, I love being taken away for a few hours! Looking forward to the sequels!
