  • I bought the cheapest 1989 5.0 5 speed coupes I’ve seen in a long time. It definitely needs work, but did I get a good deal or did I get hosed? Lots of rust repair and unknown mechanical issues could make this cheap 89 notch not so cheap to get running again.

I had an 89GT (hence my TH-cam name) back in the day and got rid of it in 2002. I have been looking for another Fox Body since then and finally got an 89LX in Nov of 2023. I can tell you good ones are very hard to find and one with all its original parts is even harder. People do a bunch of dumb stuff to these cars (ripping out the A/C, not fixing the heater core, putting carburetors on them, the list goes on). I think you found a GREAT car at an absolute steal. Yes it needs work, but bringing them back is part of the fun. I think you did VERY well sir!

Yes sir. The funny thing is, they call it a mid life crisis. We call it financially able to afford now lol. I am currently do a Ls3 swap with my grandkids. It's a Ls3/6L90E swap in a 03'Crown Vic Police Interceptor. I wouldn't ls swap a foxbody, but I will a Crown Vic lol. I started making videos for my grandkids and they started to want to learn and help. I am having alot of fun with them. Grandma has gotten in on it as well lol. Now it's a family project. Are you going to keep her stockish and just restore her or are you modifying it?

The LX 5.0 5 speed notches were hard to find even when they were new! I lived in a city of 350k and 2 big Ford dealerships and rarely saw them. I had an 89 5.0 5 speed LX hatch in the same color scheme in 1991. It had the sport seats and the 25th Anniversary badge.

4k i believe is a lil steep in for the condition it is in ,but you will have plenty of channel content that is for sure. I bought my first notchback about a year ago, it was a 2 prior owner North Carolina car. i paid 16k for mine about 1500 to much in my opinion (but impulsed), Put another 10 k+ in it. If you're going to rebuild and hot rod it, then it's a good deal. still own my 1986 GT Mustang. Had a 1986 turbo t bird before that (best $1,000 car I ever owned, stick shift), people overlook those cars. 90% of Fox Mustang parts fit, it rides better, typically less "rode hard and put away wet" than a V8 Mustang, and doesn't attract attention of five-oh nor your insurance agent (GEICO had no record of a turbo t bird and put me down as a V6 car).
