Greetings, I have the same motor. I'm just finishing up a complete servicing... consisting of re-build carb, re-build fuel pump, change all fluids and re-build/ replace water pump. As far as the brownish guck on the outside goes, I just put some acetone on a paper towel and wipe it down. All that stuff will come right off. I see that this video is from a few years ago but I just came across it. Good work.

Thanks this is just what I needed. My fuel line would not come off, even when I got take the clamp off, but was able to do it while still connected by the fuel line. Not as hard as it looked. Much appreciated!

Thank you for posting this. I have the same motor and same issue. I rebuilt the carb first, thinking it was the float, however, it still leaked. I was about to take it to the dealer and be without it for a couple weeks when I saw this video. Just ordered the new part and am 99% sure that is the issue.

Try using toilet bowl cleaner in a 3:1 water to cleaner solution to clean the lower end. 2:1 if you need it to be more aggrressive and don't leave it on too long. RInse after a few minutes with water. It works great!

For your fuel stains, first hit with a good oil and grease remover, then I would lightly hit with (wet) 220 then 360 then 600 then some 2000 grit and then a little buffing with toothpaste or car wax. If that doesn't work, then paint after the 360 and be done.

@@kieranlynch7742 There's a OEM replacement carb here (for about $420) and a kit with jets, needle valve, and gasket (for about $25). I hope to find a rebuild video for this one too, but for the most part, all carbs function in a similar manner.

Man.. you're right, I haven't been there. If you haven't had any luck by now I would suggest finding a site like boats.net and looking at a exploded view and parts diagrams there.

I really don’t remember, I’d have to look around for the book.. I have a 8hp oil injected Suzuki from the 90s now. I think this was late 90s Yamaha. Funny story about the Suzuki it got stolen and return after 2.5 yrs. police report did something after all.

My guess is 2001. Last letter of the serial number will give a year (like Z = 2001).
