A boat mechanic told me that the F8 & F9.9 are part by part the same engine save for a different carburetor - great to see that this is actually the case
Cool vid. thanks! The ebay link doesn't work. Is the only difference between the carbs the throttle stop/block? I bought a new 9.9 china carb off amazon for 80 bucks, and the top end (upper rpm at full throttle) is missing. I was wondering if the 8 and 9.9 carbs are exactly the same, or if the throttle stop is combined with a slightly larger main jet, or something else is different too? The ebay conversion carbs are 300 bucks, which I think is too much for a china carb. You guys are brave standing up and surfing that thing ... heh heh.

No I haven’t but I’ve been considering it to pick up a little more speed I just don’t know what prop to buy.

Yea that’s the only difference I believe you can also get a grinder and shave off the blocking metal
I think I have the 6HP of this same motor from Tohatsu its also a two cilinder engine can i also change the carb?

How has it held up? Was that an idle adjustment you tweaked?
Yessir I didn’t want it to damage the lower unit since the idle was too high. It’s pushed the gheenoe really good so far 👍🏼
