The artist on the Patrick image is called nickar, he posted on his Deviantart in 2007. His page and even the original post (Minus the image) were saved on the Web Archive.
these videos are my go-to for when i'm drawing or working or anything like that. i always find myself being sucked in though because something always catches my ear, or i'll have some deep connection to an image/piece of media mentioned-- thanks for making these
Correction: it really IS Todd Howard. The original obviously isn't, but his face has been edited onto it. Notice how the Todd-variant at 7:53 seems to have two ears and is smirking, compared to the original at 10:30, who has a much more stern expression. Todd also seems to be gazing off into the distance, while that guy is focusing on something.
Both variants of the realistic Patrick (aka PATRIXXX) image were created by DeviantART user Brushcommander. The first version was created on a previous account of his whose name I can't recall at the moment, but I remember it was created around December 2007 - January 2008. The later version (updated version, as he called it) was created on June 12, 2009. The same user also created a popular creepy image of Squidward holding a knife, which appears on Google images if you search his username. He's since moved accounts a third time and is now known as 'Thorsten-Denk', though he isn't really active anymore. *UPDATE:* Brushcommander's previous account was called 'Nickar' and the image was originally uploaded on April 25, 2007. Thanks to everyone who told me!
I can 100% remember seeing the realistic patrick image back in the day on 9gag along with a realistic spongebob, squidward and mr crabs in the same post. As far as I can remember, the post said, they were created by an 3d artist as a parody.
Two of my friends actually recall watching a video by pixeloo (the realistic Mario creator) which was some sort of speed art showing him making the actual image itself. They remember him grabbing images of actual people and morphing them into Mario. I legitimately cannot find anyone else who recalls this but considering it’s not just one person who remembers it but two people who remember the exact same video, I have a good feeling it’s legit. If anyone in this comments section has any idea about this, please let me know because I’d love to help solve this mystery for my friends
If y’all are interested in these styles, I recommend Weirdcore, Traumacore, Witch House, and Vaporwave aesthetics. They’re all tied into this 90s-to-early 2000s Internet aesthetic that I also think is really cool.
1:58 Tineye does not show the earliest instance of an image that Tineye could find instead, tineye searches the web for images, and when it finds one it generates a date based on when it finds it and that does not mean that it is the earliest instance of that image on TinEye. it might even list earlier examples after the image that you found.
I’m 31 years old so I’ve seen my fair share of meme images on the internet but never thought to consider how/why most of them were created. Very interesting series you got going on.
Watching your videos are so so comforting, it gives such a sense of nostalgia and simplicity aswell as comfort.. especially late at night. Please don't ever stop doing it in this style of dreamcore/webcore/
I remember seeing a whole image gallery of hyper-realistic cartoons on Ebaumsworld back in the day- It had pictures of Peter Griffin, Homer Simpson, Stewie, Mario, and I feel like that Patrick image was in that gallery. Idk if that helps but images like that were super popular around that time. 2006-8 I feel like was when I saw them
I'd love to see a video on old, classic GIFs. The good ol' Angelfire website staples. I've always wanted to know more about when they were made, who made them, where they were first used, etc.
I've seen that Patrick image as far back as I can remember, I'm surprised it's origins are lost. I genuinely thought this was a stupid thing to cover because it would be a very quick entry. Really interesting. From what I remember there was a whole series of these done by the same guy, specifically a realistic Mario image as well exists by the same person I believe. Take this with a grain of salt of course, these are memories from when I was probably 4 years old, but maybe it's a lead to look into. Search for a realistic Spongebob that has the same vibes, find it's creator, and see if they also made this one? That's the only idea I got. Hope this helps
the sunglasses cat was my profile photo on facebook for years when i was like 12-14, used it as my phone wallpaper, laptop wallpaper, i printed out the photo and put it on my school binder... SUNGLASSES CAT WILL ALWAYS BE FAMOUS. Also you should make another video that talks about the realistic dolphin face picture, its this guy who looks like he is wearing like, a dolphin head prosthetic ?? it made me so scared as a kid!
It lowkey blew my mind that the guy in the Teletubbies costume WASN'T a photoshopped Todd Howard. That guy must be the most not-Todd Howard Todd Howard looking man in existence.
I discovered your channel yesterday and have watched a few of your videos since, gotta say I absolutely love the editing style and the way you cover the thumbnail first. good stuff!
Amazing video as always. Your graphical style is something that I've never seen anywhere else. It feels like a slightly more modern version of Yabujin or DJ Gyrotta Zao, very ethereal and soothing. Also, the effect and font selection is on point.
There's also a realistic Squidward drawing in a similar style to the Patrick drawing. It could have been drawn by the same artist, so maybe that's a lead
I used to have that Patrick picture as my pfp on Facebook and VGBoxArt, I even found an old email I had sent to my mom with that image randomly attached with zero context. I was strange.
I vaguely remember seeing a collage of realistic spongebob renders, with the patrick image, but i cant remember if it was made by the original guy or just different renders from around the internet, made into one post.
I remember first encountering the cat with sunglasses picture in a TH-cam music video I was listening to in 2015 while building stuff in Minecraft. That specific video was called 1 HOUR BEST GAMING MIX {ELECTRO, HARD DANCE, DUBSTEP, DRUMSTEP} and is still online. Feels quite nostalgic now 😎
The artist of the Patrick image is Torsten Denk. A German artist who posted it on his now wiped Deviantart account “Nickar”. He also made the angry realistic Squidward image when he was 17. He now works as a freelancer.
I remember reverse image searching for the image of realistic Patrick Star in 2017 and it went back to 2001. but when I search it this time it does not come up. I think it was called 'El Star' or something like that. EDIT: I remember the website it was on being called either 'PictoBuerro' or 'BuenoPicta' maybe something like that. It was a Spanish-speaking website, and since I don't speak Spanish I don't really know what was said. My guess was from somewhere in Central America, as the city names of Managua, San Jose, and Paramaribo came up.
@@wickdclown Yeah, turned out I was thinking of a different photo. It was the a different realistic photo of Patrick where he had a sombrero. I have no idea why I confused the two.
lol I have a similar memory with that Patrick image, I was obsessed with SpongeBob as a kid and Patrick was always my favourite, I remember looking for images to save as my XP wallpaper of him and finding that picture, it freaked me out growing up but looking back on it it’s so funny, can’t get over the side eyes 🤣
Commenting this in hopes that this will be covered sometime for another lost media video. While going through my Tumblr archive to archive old artwork on Toyhouse, I found a post briefly talking about a Neopets Halloween event that's heavily inspired by the tv series Supernatural. When looking this up I only get Tumblr and Reddit posts talking about it with screenshots of the event, no videos (at least not that I've seen yet). I also don't know if this event is on the wayback machine or is still a reoccurring event (is Neopets even around anymore?). One Tumblr post that I think documents the most is this one called Kellykline, it's the second result when looking up "Supernatural Neopets", or should be. As a fan of both franchises this was a shock to see. At least with Scooby Doo's crossover it made some sense, the two franchises both hunt down monsters and ghouls and solve mysteries. This deserves so much more recognition, I think
Another great upload, your videos are a breath of fresh air! They are very relaxed, interesting, perfectly paced and I absolutely love the dreamcore-like editing style.
Teletubbies was a very popular show for babies that everyone knew about, and most people thought they looked creepy. So of course there are going to be a lot of "cursed" images of them online.

Hello! I am wondering if you can draw up a search for this or even mention it. Here is basically what it is (my personal lost media), “So, this game was about a family being murdered and you're a detective finding clues. It was kind of like Five Nights At Freddy's but with dolls; and in a little family home. You'd go through different rooms and get jumpscared by terrifying looking dolls. I was terrified of this game but I loved it at the same time if you know what I mean. I do remember the trailer of the game having kind of like Jack n' the box music or like slow creepy lullabies. Please help me find this game; I've been looking for months on end with no findings. I believe I played it on my iPad from Summer 2018 to Fall 2018. It was 2D and I think it had some sort of intro like “In the Fall of ???? a family has been murdered.” Please help me find this game. I’d really appreciate it. Even if it’s a bit of evidence or that the game has been taken down for some reason; I’d love some info.”
I'm pretty sure the first one is from the evil patrixx trollpasta, that's what I always thought before this video came out, I'd be surprised if it wasn't from there
I'm fairly certain I first saw the Patrick picture first posted on Worth 1000, which was a photoshop contest site. I believe the theme that round was "realistic cartoons" and the other entries were similarly creepy renditions of characters like Homer Simpson, and maybe even other Spongebob characters that have probably still been making their rounds online to this day. I don't know Worth1K is where the artist originally entered it before posting it to deviantart, but that's where I remember it from.
so excited to see another one of these vids from you, the first one was so fun :) also would love to see a cursed teletubby video someday, that would be fire lmao
Hey don’t know if this helps but the realistic Patrick image might be made by a 3d artist known as miguel vasquez. He makes realistic 3d models of cartoon characters.
there is a less cropped version of the deviantart plenkton image. it is just a low quality reupload though. this is highly suggesting that we are missing the original quality uncropped version of plenkton
I don't know how many people gave said that to you but genuinely, the editing if your videos is absolutely perfect. The whole aesthetic is beautiful, i don't know if anyone ever gave it a name but it reminds me of Yabujin in a way. I'm just a sucker for this style, sorry lmao.
Now, if you made another video about this kinda stuff, can you do origins on the "Awoo" meme? (Which had anime wolf girls wearing MAGA hats). Cause I'll be interesting where that come from too.
Another great video! Thank you for the research you do with these vids and with spreading the names of the people who acutally make them. I had two ideas for a possible video topic: The first one is cursed MLP images. I don't know how you feel about brony stuff but there's no questioning MLP played a big part of childhood web trauma for people and there are a good few images that could be talked about. There's also more lighthearted, less creepypasta ones too. The other idea is SM64 liminal space images. I see them spread around a lot, like the unsettling empty angle of Peach's castle's inside, or rooms mades from assets from the game but not an actual location, so it feels familiar but distant. It'd be nice to know some of the artists behind these.
this is my new favorite youtube channel. keep up the good work!. i like your style of videos and commentary. topics to talk about: 1. limewire and other peer to peer applications. like what people did and what people downloaded. how people where getting mp3s and mp4s back in the day. 2. maybe talk about deviantart the website, how that website was created and how it was popular back in the day. 3. about how students in U.S. public schools used proxys to avoid school website blocking software 4. maybe talk about how websites that were popular back in the day like liveleak, justintv, break etc. 5. definitely talk about early youtube. maybe collab with another youtuber timeworks! i would definitely watch that lol
THE PLANKTON IMAGE HAD ME TERRIFIED ME WHEN I WAS YOUNGER OMG it was in this shitty meme compilation in like 2017 with like the war of the worlds sound playing in the background and it jumpscared me so bad

When i was in 8th grade and 9th grade i thought the realistic patric was like the best most funny thing
Didn't expect Zay to be in the intro lol that caught me off guard
The Todd Howard Shotgun Teletubby has got to be my favourite image ever
11:29 IS THAT MARO

Yo Rise of the Mushroom Kingdom brought back memories
Man.. Yep, I also used to watch those Mario plushie vids...
Unusual images sequel? Lets goooo the video was so awesome
The patrick reminds me of coneheads, an old alien movie
You start every entry as "I'm sure you've seen this image before" but i haven't seen any 😢
shaii plss make a spotify playlist ur music taste bangs
this is my new favorite youtube channel. keep up the good work!. i like your style of videos and commentary.
topics to talk about:
1. limewire and other peer to peer applications. like what people did and what people downloaded. how people where getting mp3s and mp4s back in the day.
2. maybe talk about deviantart the website, how that website was created and how it was popular back in the day.
3. about how students in U.S. public schools used proxys to avoid school website blocking software
4. maybe talk about how websites that were popular back in the day like liveleak, justintv, break etc.
5. definitely talk about early youtube. maybe collab with another youtuber timeworks! i would definitely watch that lol
THE PLANKTON IMAGE HAD ME TERRIFIED ME WHEN I WAS YOUNGER OMG it was in this shitty meme compilation in like 2017 with like the war of the worlds sound playing in the background and it jumpscared me so bad
Please do make the cursed Teletubby video. Also I think there are so many because the Teletubbies are pretty cursed originally lol
