    Kevin, that looks delicious! I cracked up when you said you were old enough to not have to measure. I am older than you and I can verify that was exactly 1 teaspoon! Think I'll make the cake this weekend, while perusing a new book on Queen Elizabeth II. Cannot wait to hear the story of your meeting the Queen Mother at Claridge's. That episode may require another quintessential British recipe!

    • @collarclatch6414
      @collarclatch6414 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He said Claridge House, I think that is different. Maybe he will tell us about it.

      @@collarclatch6414 You are right! Thank you for pointing that out. My brain heard Claridge House but my hand typed Claridge's. Two very different places indeed. 😀 Also, I had recently made something out of Claridge's cookbook and that was probably still in my head. Again, thank you! And I too hope he will tell us about the encounter. After thinking about it further, perhaps he met her at Clarence House, a royal residence in London!?

    Has your friend Harold introduced you to Seville Marmalade? It is not generally available in the US. It's made with bitter oranges. Delicious.
    On another topic, your Coffee and Spice cookies were a major hit with our families during a recent visit to Ireland. I added a little diced candied ginger and small chocolate pieces to some. Thank you very much for sharing.

    That looks amazing! I just love "puddings"! Every late Fall my neighbor brings me bags of Meyer lemons. Last year, I made marmalade out of some of them, and I think I'll try making this with some Meyer lemon marmalade. I'll let you know if it comes out nice, and I'm betting it will! He also brings me bags of Satsumas, and last year, I made jelly out of them. This year, I'll make marmalade just to have it for this cake! Thank you! I do like Earl Grey tea - I'll be sure and brew a pot and take my tea on my porch today!

    I used to get your blog by email. I love that you have a channel SO MUCH BETTER! Hooray!
    Your beautiful blue eyes are enhanced by the blue in the tea set and the pillow by the piano.
    I have never been to a tea party, but this made me feel like I was right there having tea with you in your beautiful home that I've seen so often in your emails. Orange marmalade has been one of my favorite sweet things since childhood.
    The closest thing I've ever had to this recipe was something called The Ugly Duckling Cake. Have you heard of it? I always thought it was a secret recipe, but it's probably not. It included an entire undrained cannof fruit cocktail!
    I do hope you do a video about meeting the Queen Mother and incorporate one of her favorite recipes as well.
    Great video! Cheers!

    I am new to seeing and loving your videos. Very helpful, charming, and elegant. My entire maternal family was British, and I intend to make this cake. I don't usually have oranges in the house, but always tons of lemons from my always 'pregnant' Meyer lemon tree...a story in itself. But I'll buy an orange and some Grand Marnier. My dear friend, who recently passed, Mr. Ron, always said i was a closet alcoholic because i never drink (never have) but I use booze in so many of my recipes! When I buy the Grand Marnier, I will add it to my cooking closet of booze. Thank you. My husband and I wish we lived next door to you and Mr. Fox! Beautiful. I AM PARTICULARLY GRATEFUL FOR A RECIPE OF SELF-RISING FLOUR! I never have it in the house as I have so many different flours I keep in a second refrigerator. Now, I will always be able to have it on hand when called for. Thank you again. Los Angeles/West Hollywood
