Well, people seem to be awfully dumb these days. But really, you can't be stupid and make it through the RE series without following a step-by-step walkthrough, which the production team probably did, assuming they played it at all, which I don't think they did seeing how much they got wrong.

The most egregious piece of ridiculousness is the fact that Billie shot her, stood over her after disarming her, and then the next shot we get is her getting up by herself with no sign of Billie anywhere… so disappointed with this series.
I just finished watching the first season last night. An example of something I really hate in storytelling - In her arrogance, Jade brings a zombie on board The University. Of course the thing gets loose and winds up killing her pregnant lab partner (best friend?.) We will never hear about this again. She should carry the guilt and shame of that mistake for a long time. It could easily be a major factor in her future development. But nope; it will be like it never happened.
the worst part about this is that by the lore of the tvirus there shouldn't be ANY of these kinda zombies left. zombies left alone too long mutates into things like the lickers and other creatures, quite quickly too.

That dance number towards the end reminds me of the time when Nemesis stopped chasing down Jill Valentine in the streets of Raccoon City so he and the zombies could start singing "Pants on the Ground" while doing the Floss dance. I'm glad to see that these writers are doing the games justice.

It sucks that we're living in an age where critics give points for things being shot in a competent way or having actors who don't suck. TV has been around for almost a hundred years...both of those things should be as standard now.

I stopped trusting IGN a long time ago. Ign gets payed extra or are given free stuff to give it a fake review. Look what happened with Cyberbug 2076 ign gave it a high score and they knew how buggy it was after having that game for a month on both PC and console. And all the lies they told about the Avengers games saying how it was a dream come true. And the review score for RE2 remake how the reviewer didn't even play the second part of the story. There's even more shady story's but it's way to long to even list here.

From one review I saw it seems more for the old people that aren't in anyway familiar with the RE franchise. Don't remember the article but it was about how RE live action was being almost universally disliked. They showed 3 reviews 2 which gave it under a 5 out of 10. 1 which gave it an 8 out of 10 stating a great zombie show that picks up the itch left from the absence of the walking dead ( not those words, but something along those lines).

This show made me appreciate the garbage that are the Paul Anderson Resident Evil films. They are actually good in comparison to this show. The plot never evolved after like episode 1 or 2 , it was just cat and mouse with umbrella chasing the girl/girls and them getting away somehow with the biggest plot holes known to mankind.

The odd line doesn't excuse what is otherwise bad writing as it clearly isn't what her character was designed around. There are instances where she doesn't make bad decisions and she isn't a psycho. What is or isnt the case regarding her character just changes when it's convenient. A moronic, psycho, narcisistic character works when it's more relevant to their character than for it to act as a plot device.

Yeah, Wesker was the only good thing about this show. That actor fits the role perfectly and holy fuck was he badass. Well, I think mostly because the actor is so good he could pull off the terrible production and writing. The rest, the entire bloody thing was a dumpster fire. I was just telling my girlfriend I want Lance as Wesker in another, well done Resident Evil production.

The recent film almost has it all in place but the poor attempt to squeeze 2 games in 1 movie and the change in characters and dialogue for the characters killed it but we were so close !

not only does jade know before the party, but billie knows as well. She literally ASKS jade how much time is left on the timer and decides if shes gonna die she wants to go to a party. There is a scene before the party scene where billie demands jade tell her what's going on in regards to her sickness. So they both knew she might rampage. One of many totally stupid decisions made by every person in this show.

Nobody is going to mention how the drones seem to have unlimited ammo? The amount of shooting they do would require much more physical space on the drone to contain all of the bullets.
The drones don't have to carry ammo. There is an onboard device that extracts ambient humidity and turns it into high velocity projectiles, obviously. I mean this explanation makes as much sense as a lot of the other things we've seen in the show. (Humor)
100% wanted to see an ammo hopper on those drones. Also they don't seem to suffer from recoil? Wanted to see the drones recoil when they opened fire but nope, no attention to detail in the animation.
How the writers thought that 2 teenage girls breaking into an umbrella facility using a phone and a flashlight is completely okay and feasible is beyond me.

I really admire you guys for having the strength to watch this. Can't wait to see Lady D depicted as a cross-dressing asian man that is actually a good guy, Chris Redfield as a pacifist who hates guns, Jill Valentine with ptsd and a fixation on Leon/Carlos(they are the same character now) because the writers forgot it was actually Claire who met him in Racoon City and Ada Wong being a hulking indian man with a great beard and nerdy jokes. That would totally rock!

I’ve been watching “The Strain”, the Guillermo del Toro vampire show from like 8 years ago. I only saw like maybe the first season of it at the time, so I’ve been going back to watch the whole thing. It’s a much better Resident Evil series than this or any of the movies. I know it has nothing to do with Resident Evil, but it feels like what a Resident Evil series should be. It’s got an evil corporation causing a monster-based apocalypse in a city, a small band of survivors that know the truth who are trying to stop it, appropriately escalating stakes as the city gets more and more overrun. It’s pretty much the blueprint for Resident Evil. Change the corporation to Umbrella, the vampires to zombies, and New York to Raccoon and there’s your show.
I adore the strain! So scary. Definitely has moments like twd where you are very on edge for the characters and maybe a little scarred lol…Definitely way way better than this weird poop of a show…
The director needs to give a paper with bulletin points of what he wants to happen, then give a “actual” director the artistic license to make an actual story.
Noticed so many issues after watching including zombies can barrel over guards and eat there face but ignore jade as she cuts through them with a trash can lid. Also when they go under the temperature gauge when being guided the first time they get low to the ground but the second time they just jump over the couch with no concern and barely go under it again .
Keep in mind that this show's showrunner didn't create Supernatural. He was brought in as a writer to Supernatural in the 4th season, I think, and he didn't become showrunner until season 11.

The scene with the spit kind of irked me because I called it as soon as they said it thrives in saliva. Why waste your precious lab solutions, which likely are very hard to come by in a post-apocalypse on a ship out in BFE nowhere?? Why not just spit in it the petri dish as a first test? Fabricated drama in that entire scene.
They went through so many lab supplies for those tests and then at the very last second had a lightbulb moment and considered using saliva for an enzyme found at least partly in saliva...the amount of bad writing just climbs higher and higher. It's sad to watch 😕
Thats what i told my wife. She hasn’t played the games and doesn’t know what to go off. I’m informing her as we go. At the end of the series, she said she didn’t like how they did the story. I told her if she wants to experience RE the way it should be, then play the games. Just focus on 1-3, i think they’re the best of the series story wise.
Yep, even the games that are considered bad like 5 and 6 are fantastic action co op games with fun stories especially 5 for some real wesker!! A bunch of the less known games should be played, like Outbreak file 2 is an extremely good game!

Jade was possibly the most unlikable MC I've ever seen in a show, I blame mostly the writing, not the acting performance. Both young and old did the best they could with what they had (unlike Bea who had 0 emotion during emotional scenes?) but holy crap was the writing bad, and frankly insulting. When adult Jade is gone for 6 months and when Arjun calls her out on being selfish, and lists out point after point where he's right (including the father she hates we later find out she had no reason to hate because she ended up learning the whole truth as a kid?) and her response to him is, "I'm her parent, I'm the mother I decide what is best for her and no one else" came off to me as the most OUT OF TOUCH statement, like...in any relationship where you have a dad or mother co-raising your child that they are not the biological parent of, I cannot think of a single more soul-crushing, insulting dagger of an insult than to say "I'm the real parent, idk who you are" like what??? She of course later tries to bring it up, and doesn't actually take responsibility for anything (as always) but deflects the self-blame and just says "I love you" fuck me.
I used to teach combat choreography in college to local children's theatres. The kids (ages 7-11) did a much better job in reacting to volleys of shots during a revolutionary war scene than the zombies in that drone scene. It's really not hard to put people in groups with assigned numbers so they have a basic order to react in.

Another note about the "OG Wesker" scene... The Umbrella soldiers don't look like half baked stormtroopers, they actually look menacing with their gas masks and basic helmets. I have no idea why they felt the need to make them look so goofy.
Considering that OG look, despite the basic components of the helmet and mask, made an antagonist who is quite well known in the fandom himself in Hunk, overdesigned characters doesn't make better characters.

The Albert “Blade” Wesker scene was the best part of the entire show. It was so fucking goofy, and I loved it. I also loved how Bert was talking about him dying in a volcano lol. Overall though, the entire show is garbage. Also, I though it was quite funny that Billie goes from a Hawaiian girl to a Korean woman lmao.

My favorite thing from the series is when they're at the crossing place and Umbrella shows up and blasts everyone and the chubby guy with the beard is like "hey those are rubber bullets, right ?" and the Umbrella soldier just shrugs. I loved that scene. Which reminds me of the following scene where these refugees didn't know it was Umbrella that was shooting at them... Even though they announced who they were over the loud speakers lol
I guess Resident Evil got "Haloed": - create a generic series - get rejected - find a famous (and beloved) franchise somehow similar to your series - put the name on that franchise in the title but changed nothing/keep everything as it was initially - go back and convince Netflix (/Paramount) to fund the whole thing - profit.

I was shocked how accurate it was to the game. The part where you play as a teenage girl and need to beat up the bully and them pick up a boyfriend was like scene per scene to the game play. Classic resident evil. …dont get me started on the olive garden breadstick mini game accuracy. resident evil 3 the highschool years was the best on wii.
Well if the love the movies it stands to reason that they will love the show. Since watching the movies means their standards are literally on the floor.
So I looked at a good amount of the Rotten Tomatos audience reviews and I didn't see anything about the wesker being race swapped. Most people agree that lance is the best part of the show. However, one good actor can't save a dumpster fire.
I feel like this show was not originally made to be Resident Evil but the writer kept getting rejected. But since Netflix read "Zombies" in the script and had the License for Resident Evil, they thought "Well let's just slap the name on it and rename some characters and people will love it!!" Not understanding that it's what sealed it's fate. Thank God it was cancelled.
7:38 I've only seen this show through these reviews. But I am 100% sure they threw a random quirky dance sequence into this show because Umbrella Academy does it and Umbrella Academy is successful. Because studios think they can just slot in cool scenes from other movies completely disregarding the tone, setting, or build up that made the cool scene successful in the 1st place. Like how Rise of Skywalker functionally ended with "on your left".

On that showrunner quote: Eric Kripke is who invented that guy's "last show." And the show was absolutely a quality cliff after season 5, when Kripke's outline wrapped up (he left in season 4). Kripke is doing The Boys. This guy.. he's doing this show. I think that says something about their talent difference.

It’s genuinely a flame broiled aluminum can of cat piss. *Nothing* about this resembles RE and half of it is literally just a giant “hello fellow kids”. Like, why did the antagonist HAVE to dance to that pop song near the end of the show? Isn’t there any other freaking way they could’ve presented the “mind control” aspect in a less cringe way?
Who's defending this? I've skimmed about a 100 comments here, and it's all hate. Some people liked some scenes here and there, but they still think it's garbage.
The mind control should have been actually scary. Like do what they suggested have Evelyn like stab her own hand but then have no pain reaction to it, or establish that Billie has a phrase that only she likes to say and then have mind controlled Evelyn use that exact same phrase.
Just make us the damn show everyone wants - about an old guy who fights zombies by wearing a white jumpsuit and then jumping over them with his motorbike. A lot. Resident Knievel.
I'm with Other Joe! I loved Supernatural and had great characters especially Dean and Castiel! The first 5 seasons are absolute classics! After that they had some Hit and miss Seasons and then had that Awful Series finale! Truly one of the worst finales I have seen! But I do love the Show and love the cast! This new Resident Evil Series It was just not good and found it boring at times and hated the characters except for Wesker!

I just finished watching the first season last night. An example of something I really hate in storytelling - In her arrogance, Jade brings a zombie on board The University. Of course the thing gets loose and winds up killing her pregnant lab partner (best friend?.) We will never hear about this again. She should carry the guilt and shame of that mistake for a long time. It could easily be a major factor in her future development. But nope; it will be like it never happened.
the worst part about this is that by the lore of the tvirus there shouldn't be ANY of these kinda zombies left. zombies left alone too long mutates into things like the lickers and other creatures, quite quickly too.

They showed 3 reviews 2 which gave it under a 5 out of 10. 1 which gave it an 8 out of 10 stating a great zombie show that picks up the itch left from the absence of the walking dead ( not those words, but something along those lines).

The drones don't have to carry ammo. There is an onboard device that extracts ambient humidity and turns it into high velocity projectiles, obviously. I mean this explanation makes as much sense as a lot of the other things we've seen in the show.

I’ve been watching “The Strain”, the Guillermo del Toro vampire show from like 8 years ago. I only saw like maybe the first season of it at the time, so I’ve been going back to watch the whole thing. It’s a much better Resident Evil series than this or any of the movies. I know it has nothing to do with Resident Evil, but it feels like what a Resident Evil series should be. It’s got an evil corporation causing a monster-based apocalypse in a city, a small band of survivors that know the truth who are trying to stop it, appropriately escalating stakes as the city gets more and more overrun. It’s pretty much the blueprint for Resident Evil. Change the corporation to Umbrella, the vampires to zombies, and New York to Raccoon and there’s your show.
I adore the strain! So scary. Definitely has moments like twd where you are very on edge for the characters and maybe a little scarred lol…Definitely way way better than this weird poop of a show…

So in conclusion: just play the games. You'll have a much better experience.
The director needs to give a paper with bulletin points of what he wants to happen, then give a “actual” director the artistic license to make an actual story.

Noticed so many issues after watching including zombies can barrel over guards and eat there face but ignore jade as she cuts through them with a trash can lid. Also when they go under the temperature gauge when being guided the first time they get low to the ground but the second time they just jump over the couch with no concern and barely go under it again .

Keep in mind that this show's showrunner didn't create Supernatural. He was brought in as a writer to Supernatural in the 4th season, I think, and he didn't become showrunner until season 11.
This series make the movies look awesome, specially the second one with nemesis and the besr Jill cast ever. Also wesker was so well casted

i watched the entire series in one sitting cus I was so amazed at how stupid and incredibly idiotic the narrative was moving that I NEEDED to see the next ridiculous thing they wrote, and boy oh boy, was i surprised at every time...
Did the same thing last night. I couldn’t finish the wheel of time series because Amazon butchered it so badly, but Netflix took the cake on that front so firmly I couldn’t help but finish it.

The scene with the spit kind of irked me because I called it as soon as they said it thrives in saliva. Why waste your precious lab solutions, which likely are very hard to come by in a post-apocalypse on a ship out in BFE nowhere?? Why not just spit in it the petri dish as a first test? Fabricated drama in that entire scene.
I agree with u guys all the way...the croc at the end...when it didn't eat the little girl...proves this is just abusing resident evil.
They went through so many lab supplies for those tests and then at the very last second had a lightbulb moment and considered using saliva for an enzyme found at least partly in saliva...the amount of bad writing just climbs higher and higher. It's sad to watch 😕
If you want to experience 16 seasons of resident evil… just enjoy the games.
Thats what i told my wife. She hasn’t played the games and doesn’t know what to go off. I’m informing her as we go. At the end of the series, she said she didn’t like how they did the story. I told her if she wants to experience RE the way it should be, then play the games. Just focus on 1-3, i think they’re the best of the series story wise.

Jade was possibly the most unlikable MC I've ever seen in a show, I blame mostly the writing, not the acting performance. Both young and old did the best they could with what they had (unlike Bea who had 0 emotion during emotional scenes?) but holy crap was the writing bad, and frankly insulting.
When adult Jade is gone for 6 months and when Arjun calls her out on being selfish, and lists out point after point where he's right (including the father she hates we later find out she had no reason to hate because she ended up learning the whole truth as a kid?) and her response to him is, "I'm her parent, I'm the mother I decide what is best for her and no one else" came off to me as the most OUT OF TOUCH statement, like...in any relationship where you have a dad or mother co-raising your child that they are not the biological parent of, I cannot think of a single more soul-crushing, insulting dagger of an insult than to say "I'm the real parent, idk who you are" like what???
She of course later tries to bring it up, and doesn't actually take responsibility for anything (as always) but deflects the self-blame and just says "I love you"

I used to teach combat choreography in college to local children's theatres. The kids (ages 7-11) did a much better job in reacting to volleys of shots during a revolutionary war scene than the zombies in that drone scene. It's really not hard to put people in groups with assigned numbers so they have a basic order to react in.

Another note about the "OG Wesker" scene... The Umbrella soldiers don't look like half baked stormtroopers, they actually look menacing with their gas masks and basic helmets. I have no idea why they felt the need to make them look so goofy.
Considering that OG look, despite the basic components of the helmet and mask, made an antagonist who is quite well known in the fandom himself in Hunk, overdesigned characters doesn't make better characters.

Anytime a survivor goes somewhere and an incident happens them being a Raccoon City survivor is usually enough for everyone else to make them their leader to get them through that situation.

The Albert “Blade” Wesker scene was the best part of the entire show. It was so fucking goofy, and I loved it. I also loved how Bert was talking about him dying in a volcano lol.

My favorite thing from the series is when they're at the crossing place and Umbrella shows up and blasts everyone and the chubby guy with the beard is like "hey those are rubber bullets, right ?" and the Umbrella soldier just shrugs. I loved that scene. Which reminds me of the following scene where these refugees didn't know it was Umbrella that was shooting at them... Even though they announced who they were over the loud speakers lol
I guess Resident Evil got "Haloed":
- create a generic series
- get rejected
- find a famous (and beloved) franchise somehow similar to your series
- put the name on that franchise in the title but changed nothing/keep everything as it was initially
- go back and convince Netflix (/Paramount) to fund the whole thing

So I looked at a good amount of the Rotten Tomatos audience reviews and I didn't see anything about the wesker being race swapped. Most people agree that lance is the best part of the show. However, one good actor can't save a dumpster fire.

I feel like this show was not originally made to be Resident Evil but the writer kept getting rejected. But since Netflix read "Zombies" in the script and had the License for Resident Evil, they thought "Well let's just slap the name on it and rename some characters and people will love it!!" Not understanding that it's what sealed it's fate. Thank God it was cancelled.

I've only seen this show through these reviews. But I am 100% sure they threw a random quirky dance sequence into this show because Umbrella Academy does it and Umbrella Academy is successful.
Because studios think they can just slot in cool scenes from other movies completely disregarding the tone, setting, or build up that made the cool scene successful in the 1st place.
Like how Rise of Skywalker functionally ended with "on your left".
I give the show a 2 out of 10 and that's for the graphics of the enemies and the enemies they had not counting the zombies

On that showrunner quote: Eric Kripke is who invented that guy's "last show." And the show was absolutely a quality cliff after season 5, when Kripke's outline wrapped up (he left in season 4).
Kripke is doing The Boys. This guy.. he's doing this show. I think that says something about their talent difference.
Personal bias i know, but i still will always prefer the comic of The Boys. What little ive seen from the show and what my friend has explained to me upsets me too much.

I can’t deal with the handful of RE fans that are trying to defend this show. It’s genuinely a flame broiled aluminum can of cat piss. *Nothing* about this resembles RE and half of it is literally just a giant “hello fellow kids”. Like, why did the antagonist HAVE to dance to that pop song near the end of the show? Isn’t there any other freaking way they could’ve presented the “mind control” aspect in a less cringe way?

I'm with Other Joe! I loved Supernatural and had great characters especially Dean and Castiel! The first 5 seasons are absolute classics! After that they had some Hit and miss Seasons and then had that Awful Series finale! Truly one of the worst finales I have seen! But I do love the Show and love the cast! This new Resident Evil Series It was just not good and found it boring at times and hated the characters except for Wesker!
I struggled to finish each episode...I'm so sick of "smart" people making an effort to make dumb decisions over and over again. I'm sick of CW drama. Know your audience! C'mon Netflix, do better!
