Actually, they will go through their teen years, of I know everything, mom and dad don't. And, the "why do I have to be home for Shabbat dinner., my friends are waiting at the movies " stage...At 17, 18, its the... I'm an adult it's my life stage. Except Sonya and Mr Prep will of course, not tolerate such blatant nonsense. At 19, 20....while in college, probably away from home....they'll start calling mom begging her to come home for Shabbat dinner. They'll start telling all their adult college friends, how their mom is the best cook, loving, and amazing....they will miss their mom and dad. Be home every holiday, after college graduation, entering real adult world....they'll finally understand, and appreciate their younger years. And, the traditions, Shabbat dinners, and moms amazing cooking skills will finally have them realize how much they will continue their own family traditions. That's why you enjoy their young, innocent, loving years now....because every moment with them will be a reminder of how they will want to continue the same traditions. At 25, thats when the girls will start calling mom for everything, because mom always knows, and she's always right. Every child, teen, almost early 20's adulthood....goes through these stages. Mr and Mrs. Prep will remain strong in their marriage and the fruits of their hard labor will not be in vein. We are 5 kids. We have so many traditions, faith, family gatherings and lots of food. Now all of us 30's and 40's have continued the traditions and appreciate our parents even more. After we lost our dad in March of this year, we became even closer. Kids never forget. And, they will appreciate and have such respect for their parents after they realize how blessed they were as kids.
You should not be so self righteous. You can’t predict what five different children will do when they reach adolescence and college age-or how their parents will respond. There are lots of different ways to be good Jews. Sonya’s Prep is excellent at showing the way that works for her family.
I was raised and am a practicing Christian but my whole life I’ve loved and appreciated the Jewish religion. They are so dedicated and their traditions are beautiful.
This is my first Hanukkah I am hosting, my mother-in-law cannot host it so it’s up to me, I am so overwhelmed cannot decide,, I am so taking in everything Sonya says I have nothing but success because of her advice!! thank you! 💙💙👩🏽🍳

I grew up without a religion so I’ve never felt grounded in a community so I’m fascinated with the traditions and celebrations of religions and cultures throughout the world. Thank you for allowing us to learn and observe how your family celebrates Hanukkah 🕎.
Hi Sonya, I am not Jewish but I love to watch how you prepare for Shabbat and the holidays! Your eldest son really loves to cook, and he did a great job! I think it is so sweet that your children enjoy themselves together while building memories and a religious foundation. I get nervous with children near mixers, hot oil etc. - so I give you a lot of credit for being so brave! I cringed when they were putting the flour in the mixer. Additionally, you look so much like your mother! My goodness - I could tell you are her daughter! I also like how clean you are with how you handle everything in your kitchen...so nice. I would buy brownies at your bake sale anytime! Thank you for sharing the traditions of your faith.
Joshua did such a great job making the latkes! I was so impressed with how he handled the hot oil. He looked like a natural in the kitchen and his enthusiasm was a delight to watch. I also enjoyed watching all your children make and decorate cookies. The donuts, however, were the star of the show! I can't get over how professional they looked! You have amazing talent!
Your son did a great job with making the latkes! The way you invite your kids to help in the kitchen is something they will appreciate, remember and pass on to their children. It was nice to see your Momma as well. Happy Chanukkah, Sonya.
You are going to have some awesome young men growing up to be an awesome husbands. Giving them an appreciation for cooking. What a wonderful experience and seeing his joy is the icing on the cake!
I am in awe. I've been watching all your videos and enjoying every minute. Your bread and donuts are not just food for the stomach but also for the soul as they are magnificent works of art. So much love put into the food. I am not Jewish (but I feel as though I should be) but I find myself drooling on my keyboard as I watch you prepare such amazing food. I wish you and your lovely family a very happy and blessed Chanukka!
Joshua was so skilled doing latkes, mixed the ingredients like a chef and was so careful handling the hot oil, soon you are many chefs in the kitchen cocking for Shabbat ❤️
I love this channel! I am not Jewish - I am actually sitting here eating my biscuits and bacon for breakfast! I just love seeing families and how they live and I love to learn about others. You are a wonderful mother and wife! Enjoy the holidays! Happy Hanukkah!
What a wonderful helper Yehoshua is for you with making latkes. Such a very capable and clever boy, BAH. My son Ezra, who is now married with sons of his own, was my helper with latkes. I like to handgrate the potatoes, and chop onions, as the coooked texture appeals to me, and I add some cinnamon to the mix. Sometimes I serve the latkes with applesauce, sometimes just plain.
My deep admiration for the Jewish people, you all work very hard together. I love that you do good teamwork as a family. Please continue to be a great example for us. God bless you
I really enjoy learning about different religions and especially the traditions. You're a really a good mom. You can see they were loving to help. Have a blessed holiday!!! Sending love from a Chicago Catholic girl!!! ❤️
I love the kids all around the mixer like that ❤️ learning to help and working together. They will definitely have the kitchen skills they will need later in life .
Love this video and love the kiddos being so into helping momma prep and bake, my 4 year old nephew is the same way. Blessings, Sonya, you have a beautiful family! 😘
I've had a lifelong resentment for latkes ever since I snuck into the kitchen, aged 4, and ate a fistful of raw latke mixture that had me curled up in a ball on the bathroom floor for the first 3 days of Chanukkah. But your son did brilliantly ! Those latkes almost look good enough for me to consider trying them for the first time in two decades. It's also delightful to see how excited he is to be cooking. He's a great kid, surrounded by a wonderful family, with lovely traditions.
I loved this-you are one of the best Moms I have ever seen. You have such patience with your adorable little brood. I wish I could have been more that way when my kids were little.
You’re a wonderful, loving, giving and kind Mom to your beautiful children. You never stand so tall as when you stoop to help a child. You’re just like my Mom and now how I am as a Mom… the children are our world. From our home to yours, G-d Bless.
The donuts remind me of Krapfen/Berliner, which are sold in German bakeries and are especially popular around carnival. I love how so many cultures made their fried dough with sweet fillings.
I also taught the children how to cook and now they are cooking things for me and experimenting with their own ideas, creates independence.Wonderful children.
It's so important to teach your children to cook. Today I see to many young people who only know carry out or frozen foods. Your son was SO excited 😊. Your doughnuts I'm sure you have been told are pictures, and I bet they tasted great too. You could open a bakery dear!
LOVE his apron - we have PJ library too!! We eat our latkes with both sour cream and apple sauce - I didn't grow up with that, but it was a game changer!

Hi Sonya, Mazal Tov on your 100K milestone to 100K more!! I am trying to make the Sufganiot for the first time for my little grandson, and I am going basic . I was wondering for the raspberry filling ( he likes strawberry) is there anything you do to the jelly to make it more liquidy? Is moving it around enough or do you add water or heat? Thank you!! and Chanukah Sameach
