I never saw anyone else do this!
The dish that layers potatoes and meat is always a hit.
I do the same thing but I use garlic, cumin , cilantro, Spanish onions, tomatoes and peppers. All of these are thinly sliced and tossed with olive oil. I serve this with freshly chopped cilantro, onions , and the hot sauce called cholula. I love your channel!

Hi Sonya everything you cooked looked amazing delicious. Right now it’s kind of hard to pick out really nice tomatoes. soon it will be tomato season,it’s best to buy them at a farmers market or a fresh fruit and vegetable stand from a farm in the country. You will taste the difference believe me… just a thought, maybe next year you can grow your very own vegetable garden.Being Italian every year we grow our own vegetables and even have fruit trees.. Nothing better then having fresh vegetables and fruit from your own backyard backyard.

    • @linabonar3647
      @linabonar3647 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@SonyasPrep usually July and August and sometimes early September.. best time to plant a garden is anytime after May 24th. for some reason a lot of people I know who have gardens, their tomatoes aren’t ready yet. which is strange this year.

Wow you are a cooking machine! My mother's family are Sephardic Sicilian Jews as am I. I love your vlog. (just found it). Many of my family's recipes are similar to yours. The fish dish is totally new for me, and I will try it. I love all of the lamb recipes. We didn't eat a lot of lamb. We ate mostly vegetables, sea food, veal, and chicken. Have you ever had Pastito? Its a pasta dessert recipe. If you would like I can send the recipe. It's kosher and good for shabbat. Shalom.

I’m going to ask a “dumb question” Would it be ok if an non-Jewish person make some of these dishes or is it something that is used for your Sabbath and be viewed as insulting? Yes same here. I enjoy watching prep , cooking recipes & cooking hack videos. I love watching Mothers preparing food and seeing loving families gather together and enjoying time with one another . Seeing different family traditions, cooking techniques , cultures… really I just love learning new things! 😊 it’s so satisfying to watch how neat and tidy you are while cooking! That’s how I like things in my kitchen well ❤

Three Generations in the kitchen is a beautiful thing to see! A classroom in the kitchen where the next generation is not only being taught how to prepare traditional foods but the conversation being held is telling the young ones about the foods and what is expected of them and also the stories of their heritage.

We had a dear family friend for almost 30 years who was Jewish and shared many of his traditions with us and our children. We are all better for it! He was definitely a foodie and although I always cooked and had him over for dinner, I only wish I had discovered you before he passed last year so I could have made him the foods from his upbringing and culture that you so generously share with us all. Thanks to your inspiration, I will definitely be making and enjoying your recipes and appreciating their importance in honor of our friend.

I only use sweet vadalia onions. They don't give me tears. For tomatoes, if you have them in your area, try Compari tomatoes. They are always ripe and sweet. I find them perfect to mix in dishes. It was so nice to see the generations in the kitchen. Gave me happy memories of cooking with my Mom.

I noticed when I roast things like potatoes or peppers that If I massage in the oil first then salt and pepper them I wasn’t wasting the seasoning that would stick to my hands and get washed off!
    Just thought I’d share that.

I make my matbucha with canned chopped tomatoes and it comes out really good. I make sure to add sugar as well to balance out the bitter taste from the tomatoes. Secret from my Moroccan grandmother;)

A very positive channel with the whole family participating and no drama is great.
Thank you for sharing your cooking reciepes, household tips and sharing your traditions and Faith. I have learned about Judaism from you and your friend FRUM IT UP, she referred her followers to your channel. She seems like a very kind lady.
Thank you for sharing Mrs.Prep and family you all are awesome.

Be blessed and Happy Sabbath! Rest unto to the Lord and free from physical work on the 7th day as He did. (Hebrews 4:4, 4:10)
      Jesus' 4th commandment. (Exodus 20:8-11)
From Friday sundown to Saturday sundown. 6/28/24-6/29/24
      Jesus said,
      >Genesis 26:5
Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
      Psalm 119
1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.
2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
3 They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.
4 Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
5 O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!
6 Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.
7 I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.
8 I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.
9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments.
      >Galatians 3:29
And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
      Are you Abraham's seed?

    Good evening Sonya,
I am a Catholic RE teacher in the UK. I really enjoy watching your videos as I love cooking and being organised. You are so inspiring and clear in your videos!!
I am writing to ask if you could do a simple video of no more than 10-15 mins on how to prepare for Shabbat which includes the household preparation, the table with the challah loaves, cloth, candles and kiddush cup, as well as a summary of how you cook, and ... what you do with your family???
All Catholic schools teach Religious Education as a core subject to GCSE (the main qualification 99% of students take at 16 at school). As part of the Catholic GCSE course, 1/3 (a whole exam paper) is on Jewish beliefs and practices. This means all students in Y11 (final compulsory year at school, not college or 6th form) take GCSE RE and need to be able to explain and describe pratices and beliefs about Shabbat!
The students are always really interested in the meaning of the candles, kiddush cup, and challah, and they need to know about the blessings and how to keep Shabbat holy. Especially how you amuse yourselves (gadget addicted students just can't imagine not using tecnology!). There are lots of videos, but they only cover some aspects, and it is quite difficult to access the Jewish community in more rural areas, such as Loughborough in Leicestershire.
I know it is a bit much, but it would be so much more engaging to hear the explanations from a practicing Jew!!! You have a very clear delivery and understand how to manage children!! So whilst I am being rather presumptuous and demanding, I would be SO grateful if I could show a shortish clip that really answered their questions.
Thank you for your time, and your great videos!!!

If I can suggest anything for your cooking that I think really will help, is using a small oil bottle, the ones with the small tips. It looks like you use more oil than maybe you want to? It would give you more control and in the end is better for your family. The dishes look fantastics though.
