Long wheelbase, heavy, decent tires and more than enough power. Both did well just as you'd expect. I drive my raptor here in the mountains where we regularly get 2+ feet of snow overnight, sometimes more. Can confirm it's awesome just as I'm sure the TRX would be!

Full throttle or half throttle, the key to keeping forward momentum in deep snow is to never let off. I think a more reserved but very persistent throttle input is the best way to go. Full throttle is a lot of fun though lol

This is what the Raptor and TRX videos should be. Way too many videos out there with the TRX doing straight line racing on pavement. Yes the TRX is way more powerful but it seems the Raptor when it comes to off-road is the superior baja truck. I think off-roader vehicles should have an on-road snow mode and an off-road snow mode because the normal snow mode assumes you're trying to get somewhere on road despite the snow, so it severely limits the amount of spin you can have. Honestly, I've found sand mode to be the best option to have fun in the snow.

Living in the northeast I have spend decades snow wheeling, and you guys need some pointers, lol
1st) Minimum air down to 15 psi or less. (I could tell you barely let any air out and just did that for the cameras)
2nd) You want a slow momentum but not wheel spin, especially if there is ice underneath. You get more traction when you compact snow on ice , then just rubber on ice.
Snow wheeling can be the most fun off roading you have, or if done wrong the worst time ever.

He never spun out, slipped all over or anything else. He had to go tow my brother out of a drift who had a 1978 F-250 with 40 inch tires and a 460. Should have brought the Sasquatch bronco to compare against full size off road trucks. All terrain tires never my choice for offroad.

Best this about snow wheeling is how clean your truck is when your done.

Maybe take some ice racing or rally driving lessons to understand that different circumstances require different driving techniques depending on conditions and terrain. As you are all doing automotive testing, taking different driving courses (ei off road, road racing etc) may enhance or testing procedures....
    Still luv you content.

Looks like the Raptor has a Torsen front diff as well. That's a huge advantage that the Ram should offer but does not. It would have helped the TRX immensely at 11:03 and 11:20

Ram uses BLD to simulate a torsen, not as good as a true locker or torsen but certainly better than a true open diff.

You guys should do a video with 2 of the exact same trucks with stock off-road tires and another with off-road SNOW tires. I'd like to see how much of a difference it makes.

On my 2020 Rappy I run studded Nokian Hakkepelitta snow tires in stock size 315/70R17…..I drive “as if” there is no winter weather. I’ll pass plows on the highway in blizzard conditions in 4H doing 75 w/ zero F’s whatsoever to give- I’ve done this & then SLAMMED on the brakes while swerving….and….the abs kicks in & the thing comes to a controlled stop. I can dead stop in heavy wet slushy deep snow, park it leave it sitting there for an hr get back in & go no problem. I pulled my buddy up a very very steep ice covered driveway he couldn’t make it up in a 4x4 Ram on regular tires I was able to help Billy goat his ass up w/ a recovery strap slithering side to side whole time but clawed my way to the top w/ him in tow. In short, to put it into perspective, the delta between how much better a true dedicated STUDDED & siped snow tire does in winter on/off road vs an “AT” of “MT” or God forbid an “all season” tire is greater than how much better a DR would perform over a performance summer only tire @ the drag strip. That’s no exaggeration.

The key to snow wheeling is speed and redline. Ussually there are multiple layers of snow. Bottom layers are hard. You can float over the hard layers with wheelspin and speed. You stop and puncture the the hardlayer you are done. My half ton single cab 5.0 f150 ways 4400 pounds with me in it and is awesome in snow. 33s km2s and i was in 2.5/3ft of fluffy snow. Redline and selecting manual 1st/2nd gear is key

I traded my TRX in on a F150 Powerboost. I also got studded Hakkapeliita LT3 tires. I had a "pull-off" in a snow/ice covered parking lot. I pulled both of them around with ease. I guess the TRX and Raptor aren't as good folks thought.

The key to snow wheeling is reserve. You HAVE to be extremely light on the go pedal to go anywhere. I live in South Lake Tahoe. I go snow wheeling almost every day. I own a 2013 EcoBoost f150 with all raptor running gear, Mcniel body panels so i can fit 39s, hp tuners, twin gt35s. Its the most amazing vehicle in the woods out of any of my buddies rigs.
