    I had to pay a mechanic over $1300 to diagnose and fix this problem, so yeah, it can be worth it to try throwing a few inexpensive parts at it. Thanks for showing how to do that, it doesn't look that hard even for me.

      You need to find a new mechanic. I had the service Stablitrack, service Traction Control and ABS lights on my 08 Equinox. After reading a lot of what "it might be" posts on Google I took it to mechanic that I use to diagnose the problem. It was the right rear wheel sensor. They charged me $220. You can buy the part for $15.00 - $65.00 depending on the quality. I'm pretty sure it's just a matter of time before the other 3 fail and I will be replacing them myself now that I know for a fact what the problem was. Oh, and it only has 80,000 miles on it as of November 2020. Biggest POS vehicle that I've ever bought.

    You have to reset the code after replacing the sensor.

    I just solved this same issue on my 2005 Equinox today. I bet your wheel hub has been replaced because there is SUPPOSED to be a bracket sandwiched between the hub and spindle housing to hold the clip on the connector for the WSS wiring harness.
    the bracket which is Missing on your car makes getting to the sensor the way you did impossible, you HAVE to remove the caliper and rotor to get to the sensor. You need to do that anyway because your problem could be the same as mine which was rust on the hubs sensor mounting surface. This rust raises the plastic sensor enough to increase the air gap between the WSS tip and the ring in the hub. I pulled the WSS , plugged the hole to prevent debris entering the hole, then filed/sanded the mounting surface until clean and shiny then reinstalled the WSS. Problem solved , no parts needed , just labor to pull sensor and clean mounting surface and reinstall

      Rick Thepoorboy did your speedometer work? im having similar issues

    • @rwf71
      @rwf71 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My speedo was not affected by this WSS problem, it was the traction control and ABS that had a problem because of the WSS

      I also have an '05 Equinox and I'm having ABS issues, but the problem is that my ABS light isn't on, so the scanner doesn't pick anything up. I had new rotors and calipers put on recently (both front tires). Any recommendations? My mechanic quoted a $500+ fix and I'd rather avoid that.

    Clear the codes before taking it for a test drive. Follow the advice of Rick Thepoorboy posted here and clean the connection area of rust and dirt. and as you tighten up the connection bolt, gently turn the rotor with your hand to be sure that it is turning smoothly and that the new sensor is not hitting the notches in the internal sensor ring. Something appears to have chewed up the end of the old speed sensor and you want find out what caused it and fix that issue, before spending more time and money on this problem.

    The exciter ring rust out on these vehicles it's included as part of the hub. Replacing the hub should fix it. Then you will probably have to drive it for a couple of days to clear the code.

    So was the Ebay sensor bad or was it something else like dirt or rust?

    First you unplug the battery then you replace sensor then you rest the code. #iAmwoman

    Needs to be updated to 2011 at least for such repairs on such make and models

      Just had that problem corrected yesterday to the tune of $1165, due to said need of ABS sensor, 4 exact tire sizes, and hub bearing assembly. Woowitme .

  • @ImAChristianFirst
    @ImAChristianFirst 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I am having the same issue and will just change out the old bearing and hub assembly which comes with the connection already. Both sides combined are only $80.

    • @carlosdavis6943
      @carlosdavis6943 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where do you get your parts from? I just bought one hub assembly that didn't come with the sensor and paid $100 and it was originally 250$, but my buddy is a mechanic so I got his discount

    • @ImAChristianFirst
      @ImAChristianFirst 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@carlosdavis6943 rockauto or ebay. Do a cross match for the part number. These parts mostly come from out of the country like China. One search on alibaba.com reveals this real fast. If someone acts like their part is worth twice the rockauto or ebay part I would like an explanation including actual testing instead of opinion.

    • @ImAChristianFirst
      @ImAChristianFirst 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, profit margins are huge on these parts. If your paying $100 you can bet it was $20 to make. You can purchase OEM hub assemblies from china for $15-$20 in bulk and resale. That is how you see companies like rockauto and ebay sellers being successful. So when you see a low priced auto part do not believe it is less quality simply because it is less expensive. Companies like NAPA like to mark their parts up and sell you on a lie it will last forever. Remember they have a lot of overhead to pay for in those parts. That is why your paying $150 for a wheel hub at NAPA.

    faulty sensor from ebay. I wouldn't buy a sensor or anything electronical from ebay for a car, truck or suv. bought my sensor from automotive store and works like a champ. No light.

    Why do Americans put on or remove the tyre from the car, so what you are saying that you will remove the tyre only and leave the rim on the car, I always remove the wheel nuts first then take the rim and tyre off together.

      @Buzz Pelermon In America you spell the rubber that is on the rim this way ( Tire ) here in Australia we spell it this way ( Tyre) yes we do spell it two different ways, but it still means the same thing.
