  • In this episode we have the ABS, All Wheel Drive, Stability Track Dash Light on. Using an ABS scanner(available to use from Your auto parts store) scanned it and showed left front speed sensor circuit. In this vehicle that usually means a cracked magnetic pickup on the hub. I show you how to replace the wheel bearing hub assembly. Tools that make easier:
    1/2” Drive breaker bar
    Torque Wrench
    7/8” or 22mm deep socket- wheel lug nuts
    1 3/8” or 35mm Socket- axel nut( most of these sockets are 3/4” drive, so a 1/2” drive to 3/4” drive adapter.
    18mm deep socket- break caliper nuts
    10mm socket- speed sensor
    T-30 Torx socket- rotor
    Torque specs: please verify for make and model
    3-13mm hub bolts-52 foot pounds
    2- 18mm caliper bolts-134 foot pounds
    1- axel nut- 152 foot pounds
    Lug Nut- 125 foot pounds

    FIXED! My 2014 gmc acadia slt was showing traction control off and service stabilitrak after just a few mins of driving after about 35mph if I accelerated more than 1/3 throttle the truck would cut power in quick intervals making the drivetrain shake hard. So after finding that my brake switch sensor was always triggering the lights to be on and it had to do with the slack that built up over the years in my brake peddle... changing the sensor wouldn't fixed the problem... so I added a small piece of plastic to the sensor to fix the problem. I've been driving it alot over the last few weeks with zero problems! Hope this helps someone.

    I went thru the same problem on my GMC terrain 14. I change the brake & rotors. Once I put it down the ABC & stabilitrak came out. I didn’t know what was wrong with I check sensors & they were all good change the lower control arm still there.
    Later, I found out it came out because it was a little bit out of alignment. So I had to change front tires & get it lined up & everything is fine!
    So y’all make sure your guys it’s alignment first
    It’s okey to ask people around.

    Thanks for posting this. I'm having this problem with my 2013 Terrain. I can't fix it myself (Condo Rules) But knowing what it is will help. I can most likely get the part cheaper than the mechanic.

    I had all 4 of my brake pads replaced, and my 2 front wheel bearings replaced. The ABS light is still on, and I can feel a slight slip at times when I am braking, even after all the repairs. I've paid about $700 in repairs for all that and the ABS light and traction light are still illuminated. What else could it be? Someone mentioned that maybe the rotors need to be changed, but I need a clear answer, before I pay that money, and still have this issue.

      Hi Kevin, this was actually the 2nd time I have had this problem. First time front right wheel, this time front left. Both had same issue, speed pickup ring on the hub was cracked and part of it was missing. Seems to be a common problem on the Equinox. Let me know if you have any questions. Pretty easy job, the hard part is getting the hub off.

      @rltkktlr  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RusBerry so even after you turn off the stability track, you still don’t get the stability warning light? As far as I know this warning light should come on with a failure to warn you of a stability problem. I would still start out by scanning the computer with an abs scan tool. If you don’t have one most auto parts store should be able to scan for ABS problems. That should tell you where your problem lies, ie a speed sensor failure will shut down the all wheel drive and the stability track system. Let me know what you find.

    • @RusBerry
      @RusBerry 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rltkktlr so I start to drive, it has almost no acceleration with the sliding car light. It will then say all wheel drive off. At that point, I turn off traction control and it will accelerate like normal. But have to go through that every time I come to a stop.

    • @rltkktlr
      @rltkktlr  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RusBerry gotcha. Yes I would definitely scan it and find out if it indeed shows a speed sensor failure and which wheel. There are some other components that can fail that just effect the traction system but a scan is where I would start. Just remember the scan tool has to be capable of reading ABS CODES.

      2009 was the end of the 1st generation, with the 2nd generation they offered the 2.4 L engine option. Too answer your question the ABS system is pretty much the same I believe. So if you have the same symptoms, scan the system in the same way to determine which one is bad. Let me know if you have further questions. Thanks for watching
