  • The original BMW M2 came with a single turbo N55 straight six engine with 365hp. To bring the original up to similar performance of the later BMW M2 Competition this example has a stage 1 tune from Litchfield.
    The current default settings which you can change instantly using the Cruise Control buttons are:
    Map1 95 Octane normal unleaded fuel which will produce around 370 bhp and 380 lbft with Stage 1 (Stage 2 390 bhp / 390 lbft)
    Map2 97/99 Octane Super unleaded fuel which will produce around 385 bhp with 400 lbft (Stage 2 420 bhp / 420 lbft)

    Should we do a film in the M2 on track? Should we have a Stage 2 done on it? What would you do?

      *Please do! I would highly recommend the DINAN exhaust! It gives the car a very exotic, true race car (yet livable) exhaust note*

      I'd replace the splitter, tires and fix the fitment on that carbon mirror cap. I have a stage 2 m2, feels like the right amount of power for it.

    I have a Stage 3 N55 M2 and it is by far the most addictive driving experience I've had especially with that short wheel base and instantaneous power delivery. I'd say that the Lotus Elise pips this in terms of everyday driver engagement but the RS cars and AMG cars I've had in the past don't come close despite the hefty price tag. So much theatre from that N55 engine. We won't get cars like these in the future so best to enjoy them now! Congrats on the purchase mate.

    Picked up one of these a few weeks ago, a late 2016, 1 owner from new, 25,900 miles. It has the DCT, and in long beach blue.
    Absolutely love it, and coming from a very fast tuned M140i, which was a missle in a straight line, but keeping it in a straight line was the difficult part, the M2 is on another level for handling, cornering, steering etc.
    You say 'it keeps you on your toes and makes it exciting to drive', I say compared to a 455bhp/634nm M140i, it's safe as houses !!
    The M140i was absolutely mental in a dangerous way.

      Totally agree, i did the same with a tuned m240i, took an m2 out to see what all the fuss was about and had to have it, had it 18 months now and still absolutely adore it.

    the M2 competition is honestly a different car, I wouldn't say plain "better", better on paper maybe (+40 HP, but 500lbs more) but the OG M2 with that factory built N55, after a stage2 tune... man that F87 chassis with 500 lbs less weight on it and 400+ HP is insane. I have an '18 love it, have driven the S55 variant and don't think it's worth the extra $10k if you are planning on only using this on the street. If you go the track however I think the M2 comp. is definitely worth it

    • @Colourbeast1
      @Colourbeast1 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Does the M2 comp handle bumpy roads better, or is it as stiff as the OG?
      The OG is definitely the one, the engine noise, exhaust pops and bangs are incredible!

    This car is awesome, it sounds so amazing. I have the stage 4 dinan tune on the LCI, with the CS wheels, it flies, every time I drive after a hiatus I am smiling ear to ear at what this machine feels like
    One you forgot to mention is that the N55 version is also lighter by almost 150 lbs on the front,

    *Nice review! I have the same car/year/color. I also have the DINAN exhaust package on it and it sounds incredible! Makes it sound even lower in tone and more like a pure exotic race car. I always say it "sounds like Laguna effin' Seca" with the DINAN. The love I have for this car is never ending! I get at least one compliment on her 97% of the time I take her out.*

Especially the bit about not needing the competition and that the n55 is more than enough and capable. We always get hellbent on wanting that little bit more when we actually don’t need it! I came from an m lite to an m2 LCI and the diffrence was night and day. The m lite just feels like a normal everyday bmw (Which it is... apart from the engine) but the m2 just takes it to a whole diffrent level. The way it drives is superb. It just makes you want to take it out all the time! Ive had 2 x m2's now! This is coming from someone who's previously had a cayman s, 2016 911 Carrera S 991.2 and lots of other fast cars over the years! its more fun that any of them. I had the m2 comp for a day and I couldnt notice the diffrence. I was very surprised to learn that the entire suspension system is identical to the OG despite what reviews claim. They are all the same part numbers. The only diffrence is an extra strut between the back seats and the carbon strut under the bonnet. Thats litrally it. Same drive train and everything. The s55 is the only diffrence they have over the LCI OG but if you threw a few grand at an OG you can get it up to 450bhp easily but have the far superior noise to go with it being a single turbo.

Put coilovers on and this car is a weapon on the track... Hard to find more fun car that u can use everyday. I drove OG and Comp a lot and unless u don't want to go over 500hp I will always take og.

    Nice video! Take some chassis modifications to, and you have the grip of a Porsche cayman GT4! than you a have lot of grip in combination with stage 1. You can also Pure Turbo upgrade it and have the power of a S58 with 500+bhp. My OG M2 is running with wagner evo1 intercooler, HJS sportcat, Mperformance exhaust,pipercross airfilter, Alu charge&boost pipe, Öhlins R/T , eibach swaybars, solid unniballs, diff lift kit, goodridge steel brakelines, castrol rsf race brake fluid, software is stock, with 390bhp and 530nm thanks to the hardware. Stage2 is 420bhp and 600nm. With upgraded hpfp it have 480bhp and 700nm. Stock hpfp is maxed out at 420/430 bhp. some People say that with a stage1 you reach 450bhp butt that is not possible.

    • @Motorflix
      @Motorflix  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I'd save your money and leave the PS4S on it they are the sweet spot in my opinion. No I don't think so, give Litchfield a call. Ask for Iain (Litchfield) and say Christian from Motorflix put you on to him, he will look after you. They are a great bunch (I get nothing btw from passing you across, I believe in what they do!)
      Spacers and lowering are a cool mod, but be aware even though it looks amazing, mine can scrape the tyres at the rear very occasionally on horrendous roads. Other that that the carbon bits can be found all over the internet.
