I set this BMW warning melody as my ringtone on my phone. Now, when I'm in public and notifications come through, I immediately notice the startled faces of BMW owners.😂
I really don't get why so few "track" cars lack bonnet vents to help extract heat, especially since engine bays of new cars are so cramped and the heat gets trapped under stupid covers and such. Air gets pushed in the front air dam then has nowhere to go and you get a high pressure build up in the heat exchange zone. Extra cooling helps but airflow management is just as important. It can be integrated into the design smoothly also; it doesn't have to stick out like a sore thumb. Other than that, great mods on the car and it goes hard.
Another hot engine warning of a tuned car! Those who tune these engines doesn't understand that for each and every modification to the engine by the factory, engineers load the engine under full throttle test for hours and measure hundreds of parameters... Lack of expertise = Hot Engine or Engine Blow up 😎
"engineers load the engine under full throttle test for hours " this would be true if the majority of stock cars engines and brakes wouldn't overheat on a track in 5 minutes especially on a warm summer day like this
literally the mantra of most cars that are not track weapons on this channel, kind of like how most people upgrade the power of a car before the handling. not sure why everyone overlooks the cooling? maybe they just cant drive it to the limit, so never need to do the cooling. its only people like Misha that take all cars to that limit
@@whitemarmiteolder I get the more I’ve realized handling and cooling are the mods to get before you start pushing power. power is useless if the car needs to cool down/limp mode after 4 minutes of heavy use lol.
This is in stark contrast to almost all of the posts on Bimmerpost forums where cars that are show cars or don't get driven hard at all have the CSF coolers catalog on them. I understand the marketing behind it, but still.
It's actually really good on fuell on the road but the tank is very small for the engine size and power, so on track using all the power the fuell goes really fast.
Really disappointing to see yet another very capable and well built track weapon being hampered by tuners/builders not realising that part of a good build includes making sure that the car actually is capable of running at full pelt without blowing up. In this case, there wasn't even that much "racing" done due to the two big yellows and barely making it halfway up the uphill section. Just don't understand why builders treat such an important part of the car as "that'll do i guess", rather than making sure that the car is capable of running the power they throw at it. And to be clear, the car was skirting 120C at foxhole already (with a yellow prior). It's an essential part of a build - extracting 500+ horsepower can be done with basically any engine, the only question is "for how long", which is where a good builder can show off his craftsmanship. One thing to always keep in mind: the only reason this car didn't blow up was because computers prevented it to. It's just disappointing, since otherwise the car seemed absolutely amazing.
I do wonder who’s done the work because NVM won’t let you walk out the door without properly addressing cooling on such a build. I do cooling FIRST. People really get their ideas from the internet and mistake it for knowledge around track use. Shame that people are so fixated on dyno and draggy runs these days that they forget the car won’t be able to do anything twice or back to back when just going for power is the goal. I’m not putting it on this guy by the way, maybe he just doesn’t know and of course the tuner never told him, which is what I’m saying generally happens when anyone can open a tuning shop lift a few limitations copy and paste tables and increase boost.
In this case it was the engine/cooling temperature and not the oil temperature as usual 👍 130 degrees of oil is nothing unusual for this car with Misha pushing 😂
@@joaobettencourt9163both connected though, with high oil temps it generally drags up water too, so a bigger oil cooler might resolve it. It's a shame these cars don't have a water temp, proper dumbing down by BMW
Cooling mods are readily available aswell from csf or DO88, I personally have a larger oilcooler DO88 on my N55 M2. I'm looking to upgrade the secondairy coolant radiator aswell before going hybrid turbo and dorch HPFP.
Maybe the intake-air temperatures (IAT) were very high which throws limp mode on the car. The fix for this would be a really beefy intercooler from Wagner Tuning.
It wasn't the oil temps, that's correct, will do 140-150 no problem. But with a upgrade turbo N55 the problem is the air to air IC, after a few hard kms on track it will overheat anyway no matter what.
I've always found it insane that people would dump stupid anounts of money into a turbo kit, cams, or even a full engine rebuild without ever touching the cooling system.
