    Great breakdown. Although you don't need to step back. Your pressure is already going forward. A step forward with the lead leg keeps the pressure and achieves the same objective.
    You can also do the same thing with elbow control. You don't need inside control.

    Love it. I keep getting to a good position in mma sparring ti take the single leg, but I'm somehow not able to get it. I see why now, it's because my gead is looking away which break my own posture. If I look straight and sig into the ribs with my forehead, I'm safe from strikes and can push with it. Is shooting at the rear leg recommended or usually go for the front leg?

    Hey Mike, what do you think about going down to some type of leg lock off that last finish? Was thinking saddle-inside heel hook but would love your thoughts.

    • @themerge.online
      @themerge.online  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could transfer to a leg lock for sure. Once it’s up in the armpit it could be hard for some flexibility wise to throw a leg over. One grip I’ve done before when I have it up in the armpit like that is changing it to s heel hook type grip. The person definitely doesn’t like it and thinks twice about trying to kick out. Now one we hit the mat I have their leg still up but I have to watch Omiplatas and them raising their hips up. If their leg stays up long enough you can deff enter a leg lock. I’ve found leg locks easy to enter when the leg is still in the first phase of the (chest on top of quad, both hands around it, etc)

      @SnitchyIncognito 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @themerge.online

      Not a dumb question. There are many defenses to this but to be short. Push the head down which gets it out of good position and sprawl or if you are more to the side like hip to hip you can whizzer. You will probably have to look some of this up. We have a few videos on single leg defenses here feel free to search through our TH-cam channel.
