We have just traded our 2014 Sonata for a new Kona. It was a great vehicle that only ever needed Oil & filter changes,. Our concern was the potential engine replacement and it's warranty expiring. It was one of the most reliable and comfortable cars we have owned.
5:17 I totally agree. Where i do my oil changes n other fluid changes , they recommended to do engine flushes to help clean the deposits of dirty old oil and it’ll make your car run smoother 🔥 as i did and it made a big difference and runs smoother. They also add lucas lubricant for the oil as well to mix it 👋. Brothers Lube Express Does the best Work 🔥👍
Last year, got my grand son a 2018 Sonata Limited for his 16 birthday. He was getting his license and now loves driving it, Vehicle had little over 8k miles on it. That is what he wanted, think he likes the styling and appointments . An older couple owned it but health issues kept him home bound. . I am not that sold on Hyundai/Kia vehicles per se., especially in the last decade of so. They had loads of problems and these videos show it. Told grand son to look for something else when he get 75k miles of so, if it makes it that far. He did not want an Camry or an Avalon, even a new one. Maybes in a few years he will change his mine, if we can still buy ICE vehicles. Hoe we can still buy a Lexus or Mazda vehicles. The imports manufactures are only one making full line of sedans, etc,
No. It is not normal for this car or any car to burn 1 quart of oil per 1k miles. if this happens, ur car has a problem of oil consumption. I had the same car, same year and same oil consumption issue. To fix this, u have to do clean the carbon deposit off the intake valves and do a piston soak with chemical. I did both procedures and my 2013 Sonata Gls now does not have that oil burning / consumption. 236k miles and I had it since new in late 2012.
Looking at a 2013 hyundai gls with 149k miles for 6,995 and a 2012 se with 167k for 5,400 my second choice is a 2011 camry with 167k for 5,490 can't make up my mind need something low maintenence any suggestions thanks
@@JrZCarZ wow thanks you so much I just like the interior of the hyundai but i need something that's going to last. also what about a 2009 or 2010 honda accord I subscribed to the channel Edit: my first car was a 2006 chevy cobalt biggest mistake I made looking for my second carefully
Family friend wants to sell me the same exact car, same color, same interior and same year, the only thing different is it has heated cloth seats and the driver seat is power adjustable, other than that his car looks exactly like this one. It has 50,000 miles, he can get $12,000 for it but since we’re all family friends he wants to sell it to me for $6,000 I just wanted to know if the car is worth it reliability wise.
I have a question, this guy who is selling me his 2013 Hyundai Sonata SE sedan 4D, he got his engine replace to a new one. He has paper work, the actual Hyundai dealership swapped it. He wants to sell it to me for $6k... is it worth buying a car with a swapped engine? Is this car worth it? Just wondering..
What's the mileage on the car? I've seen 2013's on dealer lots for 6-7k with replaced engines. For private party that's too much, even with a replaced engine.
Absolutely not! Don't bother. There are so many people who have problems with these motors I wouldn't give them $800..... Forget $8000. Hell.... My parents have a 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe with 30k miles on it and it failed to start just yesterday with P0300, P0303 and P0304 codes..... GARBAGE!
@@jaymoney7118 I actually received a letter of class action lawsuit saying they will warranty the drivetrain for unlimited milage so I'll be reaching out to the dealer very soon to get it replaced!

Was looking at buying a 2013 and this video alerted me to the engine recall...thanks very much!

Determine young man . I like him already
Quick question, about how many miles was on the sonata when you realized it started eating lots of oil?
It started around 110k.
If anyone is looking at this comment use 1 quart of lucas oil with and 4 quarts of oil it’ll stop the oil from burning

My lovely car ❤
Im planning to buy 2012 sonata limited, now its at 132k miles, one owner,, clean car, no problems,, shall I go?
Goooo
Loud engine! Mine did the same thing before the engine died
Thank you ❤️ looking to buy one, very helpful
Thanks for watching, but check out my other Sonata videos! It was good while it lasted........ it fell victim of the dreaded engine failure.

Get the Camry. The aggravation I had, and many others too, isn't worth it. Toyota has a really good reputation of reliability

Check out my other videos on the Sonata. It was a good car while it lasted. The engine failed on it.

Hello, I’m looking at a 2013 sonata looks exactly like years listed with 103000 km for $8000. Should I take the risk?

Where can i source a engine for mine?
Mine had to have the engine replaced for the oil consumption warranty coverage
How did it run on the new engine. And also, does a new engine mean that it can take a lot of miles ?
Where can i get a engine to buy ?
Saw one like this with 36k miles on it at $12000. Do u think it’s worth it?
No.
Do you think it would be worth to pick one up for 2.5K. A friend of mine is selling his with 130k miles and had a transmission replaced.
While I do really like the Sonata, check out my other videos to see what happened after I made this video before purchasing one!
Hyundai put a new engine in mine 150000 miles and I was over the 120000 mile warranty. Not sure if warranty transfers

JrZ CarZ I drove mine for 6 months and 1 quart every 300 miles. It started stalling then it completely broke down. 1 week later had brand new engine
JrZ CarZ I was over the mileage 120000 so I thought I was screwed but they did it 👍
Bought one for $6,000k
Needs
Right cv axel boot
Oil pain gasket leak
Seepage from Cylinder head gasket
Am I fucked or not to worry?
power
Engine does not sound that good. The EV will take care of all those ICE warranties issues. The car manufactures are shooting for.
