I was hit in the rear and it was totaled. The 2017 now has 159,887 miles and I’ve replaced the coils and plugs and that’s it. The two best cars I’ve ever owned. Scotty. I have a 2010 Hyundai Sonata V6. It has 254K miles and is still going. I took it to the dealership today to have them service it and they only suggested transmission fluid (change not flush) and a brake fluid flush. I took it for a coolant flush and fill. And still going strong. My finding, after driving this for 10 years, is the interior. It's made with cheap plastic parts. They last, but just feel cheap. Other than that not bad. I had been experiencing spark knock under moderate acceleration for over a year. At 66k, there was a valve seal leak and was repaired under warranty after a week at the dealership. The spark knock went away after the repair but soon came back. I loved this car but I knew that it wasn’t going to go the distance. I traded it in for a 2020 Camry. Not even half the bells & whistles as the Sonata but the difference in quality is very apparent.

Avoid any Hyundai or Kia with the Theta engine. The NHTSA forced a recall of hundreds of thousands of these cars because the engines were locking up in traffic and causing accidents. A fine of $210 million was part of the recall. The NHTSA was not concerned with the engine problems, the recall was a safety recall because so many of the cars stalled in traffic. 400,000 vehicles with the Gamma, Nu, Theta II, and Lambda engines from 2012 to 2016 were recalled. The engine design seems to be okay, but manufacturing defects caused the failures.

The Hyundai has already have a broken AC compressor, the evaporator coil, both the CV joins, all the 4 shock absobers, noisy steering pump, leaking head gasket. The electrical connectors on the ignition coils are all crumbling. The radiator top cover was leaking. The dash board rattles. The two Toyotas have no issues whatsoever.
