One of your most lighthearted and fun videos in a while. Jack powersliding through Mark's analysis was hilarious... Love that y'all can still take the piss while making a point.
I love that Jaguar just took the Charger/Challenger route with this car, they said let's make this car decent and all the other problems can be ignored with a Supercharger V8 lol
I love that for every argument against the car Mark comes up with in the drive around the track, Jack counters by putting his foot down, making the V8 snarl loudly and taking the car sideways. And they both grin a giggle in agreement. 'nuff said! Car reviews don't get any better.
Personally I think it’s a more sophisticated drop top version of the 392 scat pack, nicer interior then a dodge and maybe slightly better ride and handling, but ZF gear box, 450 hp, rwd, it’s basically a prettier convertible challenger for twice the price.
This car will always put a smile on your face. I'm the owner of a 2014 v8s. I have it tuned with a double pulley swap, race exhaust, and cats/downpipes pipes. It screams like crazy. I know people give Jags shit for reliability, but the only issues I've really had was coolant hoses and a water pump. And I drive my car harder than anyone, now with 93k miles😂😂
That's some of the best driving, commentating, and sound mixing I've seen/heard in any car video. Honestly after watching this, I'm totally sold for the v8 Jaggggggg! Great car and great video!
Love this video! I bought a used 2014 V8 S based on your last F-Type review and have zero regrets. The interior impresses everyone who first sees it, even though it makes me go “meh”, but it’s something I never think about the moment I start driving. The party trick for me is showing how chill the car can get in normal driving mode, because 99% of the time I can’t resist having the exhaust valves open in sport/dynamic mode. The sound, throttle response, and fun handling are incredibly addictive. You can tune any of these AJ V8 engines (on the F-Type and other JLR vehicles) to around 610hp with a simple $1000-dollar etune, and around 650 with pulley/belt swaps. It also sounds like an E85 tune is out for the V6 models, netting similar power figures as this car (and they came in a manual!), with development of a V8 tune underway. The LC is still on my list, as I’d feel more peace of mind putting a lot of miles on that, and the interior looks like a much better place to be when just putting around or on longer trips. My Jag is more a weekend/fun car to me, as it feels wrong driving it civilized unless you absolutely have to. I think this refreshed F-Types with the improved interior, suspension, and tamer (still nutty) sound may be a good bridge between the two, if you could only have one car.
I’ve had zero problems, aside from a couple lights on interior buttons near the gear shifter that flickered then went out as soon as I bought the car (they are symmetrical and likely at the end of the wiring chain, so don’t really care, but keeping my eye on that potentially-questionable electrical work). According to the forums, you want to make sure the battery stays relatively charged to avoid any electrical weirdness, so I just make sure to drive it regularly or keep it on a trickle charger. I bought mine with a super low mileage, with it sitting near 13k, so it may be a completely different experience later on, knock on wood. I forgot to mention there are several intake mods discussed on the Jaguar forums as well. You can get it sounding much louder if you’re into that. I’d love to be able to control it in a similar fashion to the exhaust. I get the vibe your itch for the car isn’t going to go away. I’d say go for it! You can always sell or report it stolen :)
@@jackholmes8105 I bought a 2015 F Type R a little over a year ago and have zero regrets. It took me a while to notice the interior flaws (and yes they are real) but driving, looking at and hearing the car have made me not care about them. Purchased at 26,000 mi, it now has about 35,000 mi and the only thing that’s gone bad is an O2 sensor. I do my long cross town and spirited drives in it. As you've said bad infotainment bad speakers. My car has numerous plastic rattle and squeaks. Also the gauge is very picky about letting you check oil level. Edit also missed the other reply, the older v8s before exhaust sound nerfed constantly eat o2 sensors and if popcorn a lot eat the cat too.
@@Bursar60 I think the rear diff service interval is wrong. The fluid should be changed probably twice as often as Jag says. Also, it’s gotta stay garaged. The inlets in the hood are prone to letting water in the intake and that kills the supercharger over time. I haven’t experienced the obd2 reader issue. Mine works fine. It’s how I diagnosed my check engine (O2 sensor). Oil change is a PITA because of no dipstick for sure but a lot of cars are going that way. I’m gonna check out that y pipe for sure.

But when you have 8th geared for 350 mph and 700HP, that’s a death sentence. So I’m ok with calling that manual shifting. Lots of manuals have gear lockouts under certain conditions. Again, the ZF8 transmission never shifts on its own when you are in Manual. It’s also a CVT if you lay a tune on it. I tried the CVT tune but it was too weird for me to have a full transmission within each gear. I couldn’t get my brain around new tricks. It does however increase fuel efficiency (a V8 F-Type already gets 31 mpg stock) and shaves 0.4 secs off the quarter since RPM never moves from max torque. It uses clamping power to allow any RPM in all gears at any speed. So in S mode with the CVT, the RPM jumps to max torque and never budges even as it increments through the gears. In M mode with the CVT tune you control the gear manually with the paddles and you set whatever RPM you want with the throttle. You’ll actually coast at idle, in gear, if you lighten up on the throttle in any gear. It’s the most incredible tranny ever in a production car. It also gives you 5-7% more WHP then an conventional manual and way more still compared to a conventional auto. And with a fairly harsh tune (Rolls Royce wouldn’t tune their ZF8s this way) it shifts as fast as a DCT but with roughly 200 lbs less weight. More weight is saved, and more WHP is gained, comparing to another AWD, in ZF8’s driving all 4 wheels.

As much as I love the F-Type I agree with Mark on this one. I'd rather spend the extra cash on the LC500 convertible. That being said the F-Type is still gorgeous, it still sounds amazing and I'm glad it's still around in RWD, V8 form.
Negligible difference between the 450 and 575 horsepower on public roads. My sport p525 is identical to sport SVR acceleration wise at like 4.6-4.7 to 60. They all sound bonkers too
For me i believe in most cases 450 is the max ill ever use for public roads. Any faster and im just asking for trouble with the cops lol. My friends EVO drag-tuned car makes near 650 and honestly we can only floor it for 2nd and some of 3rd gear. Its simply too much for the streets lol
It's a lovely car by any measure, so nice to look at. It will be a future classic and this configuration might be the best ever offered. Sorry, but the LC is not a player to my mind, just a poser with a trendy design language that just isn't there; no mystique whatsoever. Infotainment systems are all destined to be 'dated' so a straightforward, handsome design is the best you can hope for. With all that power and thunderous soundtrack available at any time, it would be hard to care. You had better be watching the road anyway.

Fun is fun! I rented one of these cars, the older one, 2014. It was great, sounded amazing! And even just paddling through the gears not rev’ing it out too high, it sounds soo amazing. I loved cruising around in it with the top down. I think I’m going to buy one
I'm glad they brought back the RWD V8 versions of this car. The AWD kills a little bit of the playfullness (and soul of the car imo). So, the engine and suspension on this car is the exact same as the old SVR. It's literally a tune away from making 550 HP and up to 660 with a pully and tune upgrade. They did mention that Jaguar neutered the exhaust through a tune on the low end, and IMO that's the worst offense they made... when you're not driving around like a maniac, you can't get much of the engine burble at all now.
My neighbor has one of these. He leaves rubber all over the place and always drives with the exhaust at the loudest. God bless him.

Probably the reason why they tamed it. Haha.

This was awesome! The level of fun we could clearly see you both were having was fantastic! Car guy fun.
To me it's absolutely beautiful, which is why I own one. So much fun to drive, comfortable, bargain-priced. Mark, why are you so cranky?
That sound. That drift. That design. And let’s be honest, who gives a ****** about the stereo when you’ve got an exhaust like that! Dream car.
As much as I love the F-Type I agree with Mark on this one. I'd rather spend the extra cash on the LC500 convertible. That being said the F-Type is still gorgeous, it still sounds amazing and I'm glad it's still around in RWD, V8 form.
This video made me subscribe. I know not all car shows have to have jokes, but taking things a little less seriously really suits you both.
Still the legendary symphony of violence it's always been, we gotta love her even with the facelift boys
Had fun watching y’all have fun, great work on the editing tweaks, just enough comedic seasoning to make me almost care about this car 👍🏻 👍🏻
Thanks for another one. These videos literally make my day better by a full letter grade
Don't often see Mark smile so much it must be a fun car
I actually laughed out loud when the driving impressions music kicked in
I think Mark just doesn't like that his LC has serious competition. :P
He doesn't have it anymore
Negligible difference between the 450 and 575 horsepower on public roads. My sport p525 is identical to sport SVR acceleration wise at like 4.6-4.7 to 60. They all sound bonkers too
For me i believe in most cases 450 is the max ill ever use for public roads. Any faster and im just asking for trouble with the cops lol. My friends EVO drag-tuned car makes near 650 and honestly we can only floor it for 2nd and some of 3rd gear. Its simply too much for the streets lol
Savagegeese, the art of phoning it in
Love it. In a few years after depreciating at twice the rate of the LC, it's a no-brainer
That opening line in the shoppe is superb
Fantastic video. The humor and cuts 🤌
Loved it guys this video was as fun as it should have
one of the most beautiful cars out there.
Look at it as a sophisticated and luxurious base C7 Corvette convertible and this car starts to make sense.
A video where the final thoughts weren't really needed. I could see that exhaust note becoming like Fran Drescher's laugh over time.
Love it! Love the humor! Thank you!
"It's a Hellcat convertible with a credit score higher than 392 and can read" and "I couldn't get ahold of Jag technical support...cuz they were supposed to meet ME at the golf club!" One of the funniest videos you guys have made, had an absolute blast.
"This is the challenger hellcat convertible that has a higher credit score than 392 and can read!" LOL
The title to this video is absolutely offensive to my friend who owns an F-type. He stated clearly he only does business with gorillas.
Great video, gentlemen!
One day we will miss these types of cars. That’s sad. Let’s enjoy this while we can💪
The fact that you guys dont actually review the car makes this video even better
what a great review. You seared a grin onto my face.
"OK let's get this thing out on the road" - 🤣This was a great shtick.
Thanks Kirkland for sponsoring another great video!
that was great from start to the end. not gonna lie:
i often skip the tech part because i'm n idiot who only cares about the driving exp.
but this time i had to watch it all - f*cking funny episode
Funniest production yet!
Awesome
I love the fact that you two can disagree in a hilarious and fun way. Awesome watch!
Holy shit I was literally cry laughing. Thank you 🙏
Fun is fun! I rented one of these cars, the older one, 2014. It was great, sounded amazing!
And even just paddling through the gears not rev’ing it out too high, it sounds soo amazing. I loved cruising around in it with the top down.
I think I’m going to buy one
Sold my Boxster and got this. Best choice ever! Mine is a 2014 V6 S. Absolute sweetness. $34K
The Smile on the Face while Saying Jaggggggggggg Makes me so happy :)
Very entertaining review....I was thinking about not watching this, but I am sure glad I did.
Almost spit my lunch out a few times during this gem.
European noise regulations forced the quieting of the exhaust. Same regs coming to this country soon.
Thanks, Jack. Car looks fun for the few weekends it'll be out of the shop to take to the local BBB to take advantage of this week's 20% coupon!
Ended up buying a F type R lmaoooo
