2022 Jaguar F-Type P450 Is The Snarling Sports Coupe That's Off Your Radar

  • Why buy the 2022 Jaguar F-Type when there are choices from BMW, Lexus and Porsche? For starters, it packs powerhouse performance, then wraps its supercharged V8 in a curvaceous body made of aluminum. If you want emotion from a car, Jaguar delivers with a growl that gets everyone's attention. Even better, it delivers personal satisfaction. Tom Voelk checks out a rear-wheel drive F-Type 450 in British Racing Green and finds that $86,000 as-tested might be a bargain.

      @@jody024 For real. My parent's 2015 F-type S (V8, convertible) was horribly unreliable, and the dealer it was serviced at had horrible customer service.
      My mom brought in our Jag one day because the eco-mode (you know, the thing that turns off the car at a stop) was not functioning, at all. The mechanic probably just re-soldered some connection to fix it, and the dealer said the car never had any problems in the first place. We picked the car up from the dealer. We got to the first stoplight, no problems. Second stoplight and the eco-mode was already malfunctioning again. It was like they WANTED us to keep paying to fix the car.
      We swapped it out for a Subaru WRX STI only a month later lol.

    When Ford Broncos are $80K and Kia EV's are $70K, $86K for this is a steal. In fact, its not just a steal, it is highway robbery. This is not a $40K car inflated to $80K; it was built from the beginning to be $80K. This means if you look underneath and inside it, you'll see materials and hardware that you'd expect at that price. Oh, and its "Jag-U-wahr".... 🙂

    • @davidcarroll8735
      @davidcarroll8735 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Completely agree, with the inflation of everything else, it seems like the well equipped luxury like this “Jag-U-warh” is not as far apart as it seemed in the 80’s and 90’s.

    I had a 2016 F-Type R in British Racing Green for a year and a half, put 35,000 miles on it all on road-trips from the Tail of the Dragon to the Coronado Trail to the Beartooth Highway. I loved it dearly & will miss it forever but it was def. not reliable - no major problems from 10-45k miles, but a lot of little ones that had it at the dealer for weeks at a time sometimes. Wouldn't wanna own one out of warranty but imo the most beautiful car ever made (pre-facelift). I only ever heard it from the outside once, when I let my dad drive it, but I'll remember that sound forever too - straight to the bones is right. An all-time great, special special car. Also, I got mine 1yr old, 10,000 miles, clean carfax, for 40k off MSRP - lol

    Very good review. I bought a 2016 3.0S manual transmission coupe this past May. It may have only 380HP but that is plenty for the two lane New Hampshire roads where I live. It'll be off the road until late April, I won't let it see salt, it never has. Mine is fully optioned out, triple black, it has great road presence. Yes, people respond to it, they are rare cats, as you said you don't see yourself coming and going.

    This thing is a beauty! Sounds incredible too, especially in this day and age when almost every car is going the route of turbo 4/6 cylinders, hybrid, and or electric power train. 19 MPG combined? That's amazing for a big supercharged V8. My only complaint is the dated interior. The leather looks great, but the design and tech seem very 2010.
    And the price is quite reasonable considering what "normal" cars cost these days. A compact or midsize SUV (in top trims) from non-luxury brands can easily cost upwards of $40-50K. $80K+ for this beauty suddenly seems like a bargain. Yes, resale and reliability of Jag are... subpar, but with a decent lease offer, this seems like a pretty nice toy if you are financially well off and love driving. I'm usually not a big fan of Jaguar, but I'm loving this car.

    A fair review, good to see a sports car. It takes time to reverse a reputation for bad quality, I'm confident Jaguar will get there. There was a time in the 60s/70s you needed two cars if you owned a Jag; I remember speaking to a garage guy, he was waiting months for parts!.

    Great, great review. Used these are an amazing deal...great CPO and really well made cars.
    Some think the interior is dated but I say it is actually timeless...the "new" touch screen things will not age well. This interior is uber designed well. My 2016 seats have adjustable, memory linked bolsters. Leather looks brand new at 50k miles too. Leather roof and all other surfaces. Some of the stalks and buttons are not super great but it is 1/3 the price of its proper competitor, Aston Martin..and around here just as rare. Smiles per mile is off the chart.
    Example of how nuanced it is: The reverse mirror dipping (curb checking) saves its setting per person. The steering wheel is amazing as is the seating position. At 50k miles, not a single rattle or noise. That is not the case in even a 991. Amazing car. I hate the new touch/haptic for all things....that is bad design. This - if one can appreciate good design, this car defines it inside and out. Add aftermarket wireless carplay - perfect. And gorgeous. And timeless.
    Note, 350 dollars and my 2016 has wireless Apple carplay and android auto. Frankly find the original body design more beautiful and unique than this facelifted one. As do many (perhaps most). They did a good job in the facelift but it was already perfect so it was a problem in that they needed to keep it (as it is perfect) but to sell more then needed to freshen it. Sort of like a 911 for Porsche. A good problem. I would have focused on cutting weight.

    • @edwink1467
      @edwink1467 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think price is definitely one of the strongest arguments for this car. Similar-ish GT sports car from Aston Martin, Bentley, etc. easily cost 3X more. And while they are even nicer in some respects with arguably higher prestige, they are not 3X nicer than this. The closest V8 powered GT coupe in terms of pricing would probably be the Lexus LC 500 and the BMW M850i, but they are still quite a bit more expensive, starting at around $95K-100K. $72K starting MSRP for this is really a bargain tbh.

    • @jeffreyb.1657
      @jeffreyb.1657 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@edwink1467 It is and it is going to be timeless like an E has turned out to be. The "dated" interior to my eye and many is just right. No extra BS. Frankly, the newest cars (Golf R, Ferrari Roma, etc., most BMWs and MBs since 2015) are messes of very poor functional design. To the point where I tested some and found them just awful. The analog watch is a "dated" design but when you thin about it, say a Mondaine or a GMT II Master or speedmaster, it is well done, timeless. People over style now. They change just to change. In the case of the Roma, they ruin the car. I get the need to be different but think the world would be a better place if people strived to optimize with a class that seems to have gone missing. Look at a Singer Porsche....if we had those at affordable prices rather than 400k or whatever they are, say they were 80k (and they could be) we'd all be pretty lucky. Now, you get to buy a Golf R with no buttons or knobs for 45k that, frankly, lacks a soul. Lots of opinions this...let's just agree that it is a special car and we need more of them on the road and that is unlikely to happen given all the forces on "cars".... I don't find CUV's to be inspiring. My problem perhaps.

      He's also an extremely talented still photog. He shoots the thumbnails. And I think Martin's wife would rather you get a hotel.

    Do they sell them in pairs:
    One for driving
    Other for the shop to fix all the time?

    I prefer the preface lift version. They kinda soften it a little too much.

      I agree - buying used at a big discount gets you a more classic looking car!

    Another great vid thanks. Regarding the sound? I owned a 66 OTS and a 73 2+2 both with gears, and a 67 Beetle convt. The VW was more reliable both Jags(of course it was). To me this new machine sounds more like a 66 GTO and a Jag. Time move on I guess.

    The pronunciation is not British, you are from Minnesota and your name seems to be Dutch. Doesn't matter. The car is gorgeous. :)

    A mere 444HP from a supercharged 5.0 liter engine doesn’t make sense when a naturally aspirated 5.0 liter Ford yields 480HP.
    Maybe the Jag uses pushrods?

    Jaguar is a in a tight spot right now, beautiful cars, but totally outclassed and dead weight next to Land Rover. The F Pace and the F Type are the best they have at the moment. The XF is nice, but you're stuck with a 4-cylinder engine only. I really hope they make it to 2025 so we can see these stunning new EVs they're promising. This F Type though is just gorgeous as a Jaguar should be.
