I use to teach reading to children and adults in a part of Appalachia that was(is) desperately poor, as part of a volunteer teaching program . Several times during my time there, we received boxes of books from Dolly Parton. How she found out about us, I'll never know. She is an amazing person.

He wore that jersey with pride in 1995, and it would have been of enormous sentimental and emotional value to him. I cry EVERY time I watch this! My mom was so very poor growing up, and I was a little less so. She and I took a trip to Dollywood last summer, and when we saw the actual coat of many colors on display we both got misty.

Such a pure mountain voice, you can hear it in every note she sings, and I'm sure all the Irish folks there that night heard their ancestors' influence in that music as well, their( and the Scot's) cousins across the pond created country music with the instruments they brought with them, it was about ALL they brought.
