I used Live view on the K-7, only a few times, because it would simply kill a full battery after a few shots. Fast-forward to the K-70... I can use it a little bit more, but the K-70 has poor battery life, only 400 or so shots. Live view is STILL a battery killer. However, the nifty focus peaking feature with outlines is really nice for those times I REALLY want live view. But, to be honest, I might just be a little old school, I prefer the viewfinder. I know this is psychological and ridiculous, but looking THROUGH the camera instead of looking at a screen, like on a smartphone, provides a more analog experience and I feel more involved, thus I ENJOY the experience of photography more. I might just have to explore it a little more.
Kobie Thank you since I started shooting with film cameras then went to the Pentax *istDL I never used live view now maybe I will on my K50 & K70 I was always worried about battery life with live view also . Using Pentax catch in focus which I use I also saw no reason to use live view as I didn't think it was necessary.
Sorry, but your fluffing around while you're trying to find settings you want to demonstrate makes your video post pretty incomprehensible. Suggest you practice what you intend to show before going live . I was looking forward to what you were going to share, but you lost me in the haze... Cheers..
My K-30 does that too. It's the sensor shift. AF in live view compared to equivalent Nikon and Canon DSLR's is way faster on Pentax from my experiences. It'll never compare to phase AF when using the viewfinder though.
What lens are you using? and are you in AF.S or AF.C? Some lenses have a shorter focus throw so they focus faster than lenses with a long focus throw. For example, my 50 1.8 focuses slower than my 18-55 WR.
Ummm. Okay? How is that, as you put it "sad"? I don't think having a personal touch to content that I create is sad. You can't please everybody. There's always going to be something that someone may not like. But, sad? I genuinely don't understand that statement.

Well, live view will run the battery down way faster than using just the viewfinder. But, even using live view just for the focus peaking is worth it.
Still learning! Thanks
Photography is a life long journey of learning. But incredibly rewarding at the same time 🙂
How have is it thar your K30 can get up to ISO 50000 . my do not? Jan from Sweden
I'm running custom K-50 firmware from Pentax Forums on it since the cameras are identical.
Face detect working only for human face ...not frog face.

You do realize the video is from 2 years ago? Still earlier days of my TH-cam journey.
Tracking is maybe reasonably fast, but autofocus is awful, except for stills. And my K-70 produce this terrible "clang" sound in LV.

Mine seems super slow to focus in live view and I have to hold the shutter down forever.. then it's like it snaps the picture twice or something.
That's the Clang feature. Use it with BB focus .

@@Bakawhite17 what is BB focus? It does fine on 1 of my kx. Same lens and all. Plus it's just when I use the live view
Again with those 1970’s finger snaps… sad.
