Spot focus isn't as "spot on" as we think. What we see as the AF point isn't showing the whole area that spot auto focus is covering. This can cause issues when you have a small object in the frame that may be getting picked up when the subject is just beside it but covered in the AF point you see in the viewfinder. The camera may focus on the object instead of the subject since it's still within the AF point. That's where SEL XS comes into play. It's an accurate WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) exact AF point.
