Was pure luck that i discoverd it. And I'm still afraid that this is only a bug in my game. Noone ever told me if that also worked for them. Would be nice to have some concrete feedback at some point :)
I am going to test it soon. Just looking to get some money rolling first. I kind of tasted it on a single M and it looked like it was working. Edit: By the way regarding your other comment about them being ineffective when they actually engage targets I noticed it as well. One solution could be to get some gunboats as escorts. Another solution ( but it needs further testing) would be to get some M ships with turrets as well and in the turrets mount Flaks and Plasma. That should keep S/M ships at bay.
Oh, sry that was one of my first. No testing. I just played around a bit and uploaded it. It's also possible that this is not possible anymore with the 7.0 BETA. Have to check it out.
The neat thing about it being a single player game is that if you think that this tactic is stupid, then just don't use it! People love to play Souls games with weak weapons all the time.
ol deze cringe videyos bout bis wepons, bis ships makes me cringe. "how to distroi k, how to distroi I, blablabla". i am annihilated whole xenon sector and it costs me like 2 millions or so. whot is it secret trick u ask? - laser towers mk1. i just spammed 200 piesoes near xenon wharf and doze towers annihilated fokkin everyfin. Ns, Ms, Ss, Ks, wharf defense drones, even that wharf got rektalled after some time by deze towers.
There are many ways to deal with certain problems in this game. I just found out that this worked and never saw it eleswhere, so i decided to share it. Somone might be interested in it? So its up to you to decide if this is a secret trick?
@@kennykelley8874 Thats a good question, i'm not quite sure as well. What i know is that the game calculates fights different when you are in person in a certain distant around the action or not. I only can say that the mass driver starts to attack everything in range even if the ship never got an attack order. Maybe guns work a bit like turrets in this case? Could be possible that this counts for all weapons in the game but since the Mass Driver has this huge range, it is more likely to observe. I also know that at least in my games this works reliable.
@@kennykelley8874 Mostly for destroying stations, so i dont have to pay attention to my destroyers which like to conduct suicide by flying to close to stations when they change position. Also, i used torpedo bombers vs Xenon K and I for a long time but to maintain bombers is not fun in my opinion. So, this is a way to replace them in case you dont have a problem to leave the system for a while. I never tested this for larger fleets battles, but i guess when there are to many enemies and they swarm from all directions, they come to close at some point. What you could test is to use them as a "core" that is protected by fighters that keeps enemies at distance so they can continue to snipe. The problem i found with ships with mass drivers equiped is that as soon they start to actively attack enemies, their effectivity decreases. Overall i think they can be used in every stationary scenario or where you are able to apply hit and run tactics while you are not present in the same system while the action occurs.
I fully upgraded a jian, and manage to take down 2 K's in sequence that were harassing one of my defense platforms.
What an innovative way of dealing with enemies!

@@immi9748 it was used lots back in the day, before the laser tower blockade tactic
This is awesome! I'm going to test it
does this still work in the current beta? What version was this on?
This was in Version 6.2. It still worked in the 7.0 Beta 2. But no idea if it still works in the Beta 4 version.
Thanks for video...
Where are tests?

It really shows how incredibly dull and stupid this game is... the weapon variety and balance is non existent.
