What, so can I remove the EVC that i have and just replace the controller with the new one?

Unfortunately this wouldn't be possible. We would recommend re-selling your EVC and upgrading to the evcX if you're interested in the features of the evcX. The EVC is still a tried and tested model that we continue to sell and support, so if you're happy with what you're currently getting, perhaps look at upgrading when you upgrade your rig instead :).
