If not THE greatest film ever!
Oh,please. You've probably never even seen any of the other films nominated that year. Newsflash Foreman's perfect film One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest was better than your shark movie, which isn't even in Spielberg's top 5 movies.
I wouldn't be so harsh, but yeah Forman's work on Cuckoo's Nest was certainly worth recognition
Guy Simchony Kubrick and Fellini also deserved it more than Spielberg.
Matei Lascu Haven't seen any of those films, so I can't comment on that
So fascinating to see his reaction to the nominations in real time!
Rest in Peace Joe Spinell. Didn't know he passed away in 1989.
I love steven's sense of humor.
This is fantastic picture and audio quality for the 1970s!
This along with "The Color Purple" and "War Horse" are perfect examples on why the academy nominate some directors that dont have any chance at winning. Spielberg will always be the best.
Sorry, Steven. But you had it difficult against those filmmaking titans. Those were definitely the days.
Altman didn’t deserve the nomination. His direction wasn’t as impressive as Spielberg’s in Jaws.
@@Jared_Wignall Nashville was the best among all the nominees.
Hmmm.... I seem to recall an interview in which Spielberg gave credit to John Williams and his brilliant score for "saving my picture". JAWS was well-directed, but so were all of the other five which were nominated, and I can't think of a single one of them in which the director gave someone else credit for saving their film.
Now nobody can afford Steven Spielberg.. this man is film.
Jaws should've been nominated for: Best Picture, Director, Actor, Two Supporting Actors, Adapted Screenplay, Score, Sound, Art Direction, Cinematography, and Editing.
I wonder what Spielberg reaction was when he finally got the nomination two years later for Close Encounters of the Third Kind
this always cheers me up when i'm down. the hubris is incredible!
Thank you guys for the memmorable videos
Well...I think everyone knows Spiely is an absolute genius of cinema. He is a master of direction. And also, it seems, a very level, decent guy...a good man...and his yacht is so big he has to do three point turns on the Hudson river....yeah..he's done very well for himself. I love it when a good man does well and shines....
Poor steve. Little did he know he'd go on to not only be nominated but win countless oscars. I love this, showing his beginnings :D
The screenplay definitely should’ve been nominated !
So THIS is Tony Gazzo's secret life huh? Didn't know he was a good friend of Spielberg's.
If you think this was a Robbery, the director who was nominated Stanley Kubrick never won his entire life!
Juke Box Hero he did win one Academy Award: Best Visual Effects for 2001. He should’ve won Best Director at some point however.
I wish I got to hang out with him. He seems like a cool guy
joe spinell was the coolest guy on earth! no part to small for him , he made everything big! maniac !!!
1:18 the guy on the left is one of the mob in The Godfather haha
Steven having some bros backing him is great. Real friendships.
It did win Oscars for Music, Sound and Editing.
I think there is something a little tongue in cheek about this, you can tell by the way he hyped it up at the start and had his friends there in Jaws and black-tie shirts, etc.
Other nominations Jaws should’ve received: Best Director for Spielberg, Best Adapted Screenplay, Roy Scheider for Best Actor and Robert Shaw for Supporting Actor. Easily could’ve gotten 8 Academy Award nominations when adding these 4 along with the 4 nominations it did receive.
LOL thats the Maniac
Spielberg was kinda hot in a nerdy geeky sort of way.
That is maybe why he was with Sarah Miles at the time. The. He went on to Amy Irving and eventually Kate Capshaw.
Bruh, he was cute.
Steven Spielberg and his friends, Joe Spinell and Frank Pesce.
Doesn't get a personal nomination
"Cancel my week" 😂😂😂
I would never imagine that Joe Spinell and Steven Spielberg were pals.
People watch this and don't think Spielberg is just having a laugh with his friends?
My favorite video of all time
anyone notice the guy in the JAWS shirt is the bookie Rocky works for who asks him the break the guy's thumbs lol
He was holding a Kodak Super8 sound camera there for a bit, he put it down around the 2:45 mark. Always on task that Steven!
I love this video, so cool to see. What a standout year in film in a standout decade in film!
