Exactly, he won the Oscar for Schindler´s List right after that. AND made a box office hit, Jurassic Park, a franchise that is still going, 25 years later.
Wow, if Steven Spielberg can get nervous on set and still pull it off big time, then that gives us all hope that we dont have to be perfect and can still make it a success. Think about it
I love how when he's told that he doesn't make art he goes right to one of the most iconic and artistic images in all of cinema, riding a bike across the moon with E.T.
I am not as sure about the second (Welles and Ford are other candidates), but definitely agree on the first. I love Raiders of the Lost Ark and AI and Jaws.
This makes me feel better. I directed my first film at film school couple weeks ago and I was so nervous. Even though everyone tells me I’m good at it and love directing, I have doubts. Hearing that Spielberg does too makes me feel better. I think it’s part of being a creative.

"There is a place for mass produced entertainment but it shouldn't be confused with art or award winning film making". Spielberg as of the date of this comment has six films on the National Film Registry as a director (Jaws, Close Encounters of The Third Kind, Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T. The Extra Terrestrial, Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan) four of them were released before this interview. Art therefore can be riding on a bike with ET, or watching Indy being chased by a huge boulder. Also it should be pointed out that sometimes trying to make a piece of art can be damaging in itself. Look no further than The Lion King and Pocahontas. Pocahontas was the prestige pic and The Lion King was the risk. The risk paid off
It hasn't been chosen by the Library of Congress yet. I'm sure given it's popularity it has been suggested several times but it hasn't been selected. It might do later though. I'd like Aliens to go on as well
Steven Spielberg can think he make both new movie sequels of "Who Framed Roger Rabbit": "Roger Rabbit: Part Two" is coming in summer 2025 to theatres & that threequel "Roger Rabbit: Part Three" is coming in summer 2027 to theatres!🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬🎬
At 7:20 I think the director they're talking about is Oliver Stone, if anyone is curious.
I adore the guy's self-effacing sense of humor and his freely admitting his insecurity.
He may not be the best director but surely is one of the best minds out there in film making business ....
He is the best director ever name a director that made movies like Jaws,Jurrasic park, Schindlier's list,Saving private Ryan, Catch me if you can and Artificial intelligence
@@adnamahad5196 He's definitely made great movies, but he's become just another director/producer. I think his last truly great film was Saving Private Ryan. Since then they've been mostly...meh. I think Spielberg is a great director but so is Martin Scorsese, and Ridley Scott, and James Cameron. Plus let's not forget the directors who inspired Spielberg like Frank Capra, and Cecile B. Demille and Alfred Hitchcock. Without them, there never would have been a Steven Spielberg.
This hits harder after watching The Fabelmans
This is brilliant
2:00 Kathy Kennedy :) Before the Disney's Star Wars
I was that kid too that got pick last for everything In school and I had trouble with reading as well
Woods got messed up at the end. Meant to say at age 28 What a great. Artist genius John Lennon and David Spielberg I was 11 years old and 75. 14 years old when they killed John Lennon At least we still have great movies from Spielberg. Love to get a comment.
This is priceless!
When my Dad worked with the White House Transportation Agency in the 90's, He chauffeured Steven Spielberg during his Washington DC Visits. I'm blessed to have a Dad who sat in the same car as Steven Spielberg.
Imagine telling Steven Spielberg that he doesn't make art, that's like modern critics nowadays obsessed with telling people Marvel is not cinema.
what happened to interviewer....:-) why he is so serious or confused...:-)
Salem Bin Afif Lol this is true ! he just exaggerated in his gazes and behaviours !

This Ed reporter is hilarious, how he spontaneously takes his glasses off as if to try and seem intellectual LOL
I would love to know how they got those cameras on that ride. I have to imagine those cameras being heavy. And they have to carry that camera throughout the whole ride?
2:36: "Even his office is filled with toys, although they're for the most part adult toys."
Ouch...
