Ultimate Blind-fold Speaker Sound Test: JBL Charge 5 vs Soundcore motion plus vs Soundcore boom

- In this video my wife has a blindfold on and listens for her favorite speaker.
It ended up being a very close competition, but the JBL charge 5 with its great bass and even better treble clarity came out on top.
2nd place went to the Soundcore Motion Boom. It's treble clarity was last place, but its Bass response was 1st place in our opinions. We both love bass so it came in 2nd place.
3rd place was the Soundcore motion plus. This speaker didnt really excel at anything, the bass was subpar and the treble was no better than the JBL, so it comes in last place.

What I have noticed about these little speakers is where you place them. If you put them in a small area up against something it greatly increases Bass.
The EQ is what makes these soundcore speakers stand their ground with other speakers. Though I would like to have it ready out of the box, they are worth due to their customization and price.
I think the jbl are already customized but the Soundcore ones are just on default flat like every speaker.

If you had taken time to Eq the Motion+ , it would blow the jbl clean out of the water. That’s what the custom Eq is for after all !

How long does your speaker (Select Pro) last and what is the charging time of your speaker?
With the motion boom, it's already lacking in treble because of lack of tweeters so the best mode is to disable base boost because it mutes the vocals and reduced it's clarity... Also set the equalizer to an inverted v shape .... And it will sound way better than the. JBL
The Motion Boom really needs custom EQ (available via its app) to get the best results from it. Ditto for the M+. The C5 does IMO provide the best "out of box" experience
Totally agree 👍 there was quite alot of hype around the motion plus... wasn't great at anything specifically IMO
The jbl is set flat out of the box and has an eq app as well

The Motion Plus and the Boom need tweaking with the equaliser or use your phone or DAP equaliser. I use my LG v30 equliser and the sound is way awesome than what I heard here.

I'm not sure why you hate motion plus, maybe you didn't use custome EQ but it's the loudest even compared to jbl xtreme 2 and although motion boom have much more bass but plus is more clear and have better highs than boom while enough bass, also bass at higher volume is more compared to charge 5 even at lower volume
Jbl has this peak at highs that make you think it's clear which you can do just that with EQ on Anker speakers

What eq are u using in the soundcore motion plus?
stock? always the jbl. but bass definatly the sound cores! you can do so much more sounds useing the accesories!
Motion boom, is great for bass. The motion plus isn't great for anything IMO

You said that you had all three speakers turned up to max volume. It was worth commenting on which one of them was the loudest. This is an important feature if you plan to use the speaker outdoors. Which one was the loudest in your opinion?

Great review with blindtest. However, I suggest that test speakers with different volume level. Most enclosed speaker (not ported) struggles with bass on max volume for safety reason to not damage the drivers. So, max volume doesnt describes the best. Yet, I agree JBL Charge 5 win. Just got a red one yesterday😆

Soundcore motion sounds way better if you keep it on the floor, don’t keep it on tabletop

go EQ custom setting for soundcore motion + copy alen Rose EQ for motion plus+ it will way better sound quality thn JBL charge 5 💯...I hve both JBL charge 5 and motion plus.... motion is winner every time❣️
I tried custom eq on both of the soundcores. The boom had great bass, but highs were muddy. The motion plus, no matter how I adjusted the custom eq..equipment... could not get any decent bass.

I tried all of the equipment settings. The jbl just had the best overall sound. Between depth and clarity.
I bought the motion + for like 30$ on sale. Overall great budget. 😆

JBL charge 5 will survive my wife’s abuse especially dropping it…. If durability is important, Id go JBL…...I had 2 small anker speakers I really liked but they both broke on me…ugh

Same with Sony.. I have both Xtreme 2 and i give away my Sony XB41 no matter how many times you drop them they are durable.. thats why Sony And JBL are expensive not just because they are popular like Apple and Samsung, but you are also paying for durability and A balanced sound quality

Well.. if you don’t like it for the price… why would you ever buy something full price? I’ve always found JBL half off or on sale. I would never pay anything full price even laundry detergent.
You can always find deals and coupons out there if you really look.
But i definitely loved the video. I think I’ll for soundcore this time instead of JBL which is my usual purchase.
