I just bought 2 JBL Charge 5 speakers and 2 Motion Plus and compared both pairs in stereo mode. To be honest with you, very tough choice. Most tests and reviews were done with just one speaker against each other. Two of each Made big differences in my opinion. JBL could have won if playing mono against Motion+. However, in stereo mode, both of them came close with each other. Motion+ reminded me of listening to music in hi resolution. The vocal was just right in my face. Mid and hi were very well control. Bass is not as strong as JBL but still very puchy. Very well balance speakers. Watching movies, you can hear everything from pin drop to explosion. Character's voices were so clear. On the other hand, the pair of JBL has lots of bass. It reminded me of 3D sound. Soundstage was incredible. Watch movies, I could feel the rumble sometimes. If you preferred clear mid and high and a little brighter sound, Motion+ is for you. If you like more bass and warmer sound, get the Charge 5. But whatever you choose, please try it in pairs, you won't regret it. Another thing I forgot to mention, the connection. Both of them are not as good as them claimed to be. JBL tried to advertise that you can chain 100 speakers together. Well, I already have trouble with just 2. If you only used just one speaker then it's fine. 2? The connection between the speakers were like hit or miss. Sometimes it can go for hour without problem. Unfortunately, more often than not, the connection keep dropping every 5-7 minutes and it was very annoying. For speakers that claim to be able to connect 100 of them at a time, this is terrible. The app doesn't help much either. In face, to connect 2 of them in stereo mode requires too many steps and Jbl didn't explain well enough. Took me a lot of trial-and-error to get it right. First of all, you only need to pair just one speaker to the phone. Pair both of them to the phone and the app will get confuse. After the first speaker connected, hit the chain button on both speakers and let them find each other. Turn on the app and press and hold chain buttons on both speakers to connect them to the app. Go to the app and click on + sign to enable the speaker inside the app and choose between party or stereo mode. All of this can be done on Motion+ by just clicking the bluetooth button on the second speaker for just one time and that's it. So, for how easy it is to setup, Motion+ won by a long shot. Although, the Motion+ pair also drop the connection between them every once in a while as well. Also, the motion+ has microphone while the Charge 5 doesn't have one. The app for Jbl doesn't do anything but switch between stereo and party mode. If connect the speakers to a computer then you can't even play the stereo mode at all, only party mode is available. Motion+, on the other hand, can play both modes no matter what you connect them to because you can toggle between L-R R-L and party by hit bluetooth button twice. Soundcore app is also very useful. All I have to do is set the EQ into V shape and the sound was improve to the point that it can go toe to toe with the Jbl.

Respectfully, it seems, to me, an illogical comparison as the Anker's is handicapped as the equalizer is not being used- it seems. That JBL comes optimized out of the box. Thank you for doing this video.
@ Nope, it is tuned very flat out of the box so you can adjust it to your taste. All of these JBL speakers have very metallic shrill sound, which may not be an issue for some, especially liking some EDM music but the biggest problem is how boxy it sounds. It simply sounds like it looks - a box without any sound dispersion. I was very much suprised by only one motion + and now in full stereo mode it is very enjoyable and convenient even when you own some really nice higher-end dedicated components. Why not give it a chance?! Right? JBL may be good but I'm not sure for the asking price.
@@semtexxl yeah, that's what I noticed. The motion+ seems more open and comfortable. Felt like it has a broader and more detailed and very clear Soundstage.
So glad that anker motion+ can handle lower bass frequency in lower volume. when pushes in high volume, it's more on upper bass. I have this two speakers, in terms of outdoor loudness, the motion+ is more louder. Charge 5 looses its bass in high volume simple because it doesn't have upper base, and the driver empower the mids and high.

There was no contest when it came to the outdoor performance which I think JBL realized that was going to be the primary use case for their speaker. But I must confess that for a proper flat indoor response the motion + won

You give the best presentation of the Soundcore Motion+ sonic quality compared to many other videos. That's on flat but with equaliser adjustment it's superb in it's segment and cheaper too to many comparable speakers.
JBL is great for bass filled genres but for more detailed and soft genres is horrible because of that same bass. I would choose the motion+ just because of the flexibility when listening to music with no boom boom. Those testing videos should use jazz or instrumental music as part of the tests too. No everyone is looking to buy a speaker that is good just for bass driven music like hip-hop or techno
Thank you very much, I have not seen a better quality test, the microphones picked up the signal well. Of course, JBL is a professionally made device by a well-known music company. It is technically thought out and its 2 speakers play more naturally than Soundcore Motion Plus. The only thing with a little extra bass. But Soundcore Motion Plus also has an equalizer and maybe it can be used to better adjust the sound.
Hi mate...i have the Soundcore and its such a great ‘hifi’ ish sound....I totally love it for the price its still one great little speaker.....i have some decent hifi components at home (B&w /marantz) and yet i grab the Soundcore and move around the house and garden as its just a lot more convenient....cheers
For its size and cost it has a very nice clear sound, perhaps a little harsh when pushed but surprising all the same. It has a great level of detail at this price point. I had a very decent hi fi system at home and i still enjoy this little speaker. So much in fact the next time i see it on offer on amazon i will buy another. I can then set up a stereo pair...Cheers
I give soundcore respect for it's price to performance ratio especially if people are willing to take the time to download the app and change EQ settings. But to me JBL is much better. It's conveniently good out of the box just push and play, no need to tweak EQ settings, and majority of people love a simple out of box solution with good sound and excellent BASS! it's also better looking too :)
Charge 5 : "Deep" Bass Motion+ : Upper bass, mids, vocals and highs However using BassUp really undersells the Motion+ as it lacks highs in bassup mode
@@DJJUUPITR Upper bass is the 100-200hz range. Which produce punchy bass. If you want to teach me anything about speakers you should know that already. 40hz deeper ? Yeah right. Motion+ go down to 60hz and Charge 5 to 50hz so yeah, I don't know from where you got your numbers but they are clearly wrong. And that comes from an owner of 2 Motion+ and 2 Motion Booms. And I love both speakers. I actually think that Charge 5 is crap for the price asked. I got a Onyx Studio 7 last week, it's the same price as Charge 5 while being WAY better. With a true deep bass that go down to 30hz.
I had both. I bought motion plus in 2021 and i got a new charge 5 in 2024. I dont have a time personal test yet. But i prefer charge 5 becoz listening comfortable and clear sound and bass punch. While motion plus is also good sound, but sometime a sound muffled and unpleasant.
@@theboston3386 I am not an Audiophile nor am I a fanboy. Yes im a fan of JBL but I don't talk trash about other companies. My Charge 5 already sounds incredible out the box, and even if I did want to EQ it, my phone has a built in equalizer.
I have owned both and think the JBL is much nicer to the ears. My ears start to hurt after a while , listening to the motion+. I tried multiple EQ settings but the JBL just sounds better to me. Sound is a very subjective thing so I think both are great in their respective price ranges!
I have both speakers. I don´t know if it is my room´s acoustics or what, but for as long as I´ve used them both, I've noticed the JBL is definitely louder and has a richer high bass, so kicks hit harder and punchier , but the Soundcore has deeper bass, so bass guitars sound fuller and more pleasant. Also, JBL has a bit crisper highs, but the Soundcore has a wider sound stage due to its stereo capabilities. EQ is just as effective on the JBL as on the Soundcore, but the later is WAY MORE customizable. One thing I don´t like about the JBL is that you can´t skip to the previous track from the speaker controls and it doesn´t feature a 3.5mm jack. One thing I don´t like about the Soundcore is that if you pause the music for more than 10 seconds or when you play the first song, it has a 2 seconds delay before sound starts coming out. Something I prefer about the JBL, tho, is the form factor, cause it can be placed both horizontally or vertically so it can save some space on your desk or table. Overall, both are awesome speakers, so it very much depends on what you need or what you prefer. In this case, I'd like to say: if you want heavier, more exciting sound, go JBL. If you want a bit more precise or refined sound or if you love tweaking your EQ settings or you desire to create a very specific sound signature, pick the Soundcore. You can´t go wrong with either speaker, anyway.
The Soundcore outperforms the JBL in a long way. The JBL had big bass and a boxy sound. I don’t like it one bit. The Soundcore sounds open and hifi. If you look at the graph at the start of the video, you see the Soundcore has a flatter response as where the JBL had too much bass and poor highs. I know they design it that way to please hiphop listening youngsters. But I hate sound like that when listening to metal music. I also bet the soundcore is cheaper.
can i have a 5.1 setup for movies? The dolby digital surround sound? ok take out the middle speaker, a 4.1 setup. For front left right and rear left right i would like to use Anker speakers while the subwoofer will be JBL. Will it work?
JBL has the advantage here but for the price I would go for Sound. If I had a better setup maybe I would invest more and get the JBL but just to reproduce the sound from a 1080p mid range projector it is good enough. for me.
Hi guys I'm looking into getting a pair of speakers to use them in my back yard to get a "surround sound" feeling to it. I will be placing the speakers around 22 feet apart from each other. Will the Soundcore Motion work like that and give me that effect thru blutooth by using my cell phone? Thank you.
Hello mate, as far as I know the Motion plus has no option to add more speakers to it, but there are apps that allow you to broadcast to multiple speakers, unfortunately with this there will be a sound lag and the speakers may not play music in synch. So you are better off buying a couple of JBL Speakers but also make sure they are compatible with each other.
Currently, the JBL Charge 5 is retailing in outlets at anywhere from €140.00 to €169.00, whereas the Soundcore is around €75.00, while the JBL may be louder and more bass (it is a 40w speaker v the Soundcore at 30w) but its nearly twice the price of the soundcore Motion plus. So you can purchase 2 soundcores for the cost of 1 JBL charge 5, which makes the soundcore the best option.
I've had Soundcore for 3 years now and the battery has come to the end of his life. So this is what people should know about it, that it works around 3 years. I used to listen it everyday at work 8-10 hours at 50% volume and it still had lots of battery left after 8-10 hours, I could probably go around 15 hours nonstop, but if the battery goes off, it goes fast, just few weeks ago I could play it 10 hours easily and now I cannot listen more than 4-5 hours and speakr turns himself off for no reason. Next I will try Charge5, but whatever speaker you buy out of these two, you can't do no wrong. Both sound very good. Motion also has a equalizer, so you can get a lot more out of the speaker than in stock mode.
May i know the name/artist of the sound track u played? i shazam but seem like they are not the one (Bitter I love you by Jincheng Zhang) and Viaje Sonada.
Hi, I have made a video with all the music I play, check the description and locate the song, cheers th-cam.com/video/S8VklaU_YK4/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=Shak%27sHacks
Was the JBL Charge 5 on the latest firmware update at the time of this test? Another TH-camr showed the latest firmware as 6.something and the sound quality with the updated firmware was noticeably better.
For those who saying about the equalizer will make a huge difference in motion plus and blow the charge 5 away. Yeah it will make a huge difference as the jbl app only allow you to change bass , highs and mids compated to soundcore app. But keep on mind, you can use a custom eq ( jet audio full version) on jbl.charge 5 and it will be on another league compared to motion plus. I did the same and tested them both, charge 5 is the best.. but price wise you jave to give it to motion plus
The Soundcore motion+ competes by sweeping the charge5 with great accuracy in the mids and highs, the low frequencies are for the charge5, in my opinion the Soundcore with those advantages, being stereo, and together with the price, is the real option
That sound core is not properly equalized. They're both great speakers.I had the extreme and it sounds perfect.EQ is key and many who get frustrated is cause of that.JBL has always been a great brand.Anker is newer but i love their products.I'm listenting to this sound test with my Anker soundcore life U2 neckband earphones and the sound is great.
I have 2 JBLs, different models, and sound cool, got 3 Soundcores, and the Motion Plus sounds very clear, JBLs have great bass, soundcore is more on clarity while maintaining their Bass, but both are great speakers, to each his own, Well the JBL is a bit pricey
JBL's mids and highs sound distorted when the bass drops, and is really a letdown for me. I like the bass more tho but the soundcore has more dynamic range, is more accurate I think, and those highs are really crisp with better frequency separation. Would go for the soundcore, but the JBL would sound better outdoors
Hi. Bass up was on I've put that in the description but I havent tweaked the eq on the app. I wanted to compare them out of the box. But I agree I should have tried one of the mentioned eq settings, maybe on another video as I still have both speakers, please subscribe so you don't miss out 😊
Which speaker one chooses all depends on how you will use it and what type of music genre or audio you will be playing through them, they are both good speakers with its own distinctive characteristics. Yet you will find something better for the price you're paying for the Charge 5 on the market and conversely you would struggle to find anything better at the price point of the Motion Plus.
I live in Canada where the JBL charge 5 sells for $199 and motion+ sells for $109. I got several old JBL BT speakers that I love and all of them use Connect+ that allow them to be paired together such as Flip4, Charge3 and Xtreme2. I recently got a JBL charge 5 and was slightly better than my Charge3 but not better than my Xtreme2. Also, Flip4+Charge3 were better than a single Charge5 and Charge3+Xtreme2 paired together were way better than Charge5. Was going to buy a 2nd JBL charge5 but had a chance to listen to two(2) Motion+'s from a friend with a FIIO BTA30Pro from his Mac via Aptx and was sold. Ended buying 2x Motion+'s, a BTA30 Pro that provides the cleanest HIFI BT audio signal from your Smartphone, Win10 PC, Mac or Linux Machine. I don't need an EQ and 2 Motion+'s are definitely better than a single Charge5. What I love from my JBL charge5 that's better than my motion+: Appealing Design and stylish looks, Durable construction, USB Charging port, JBL sound signature if you have crappy equipment or barely decent audio sources(not my case), BT 5.1, larger battery . What I don't like from my JBL Charge5: Almost double the price than Motion+, single tweeter, no EQ, No Aux-In, no Aptx BT audio codec, the fact that every new JBL Charge model, makes previous gen obsolete for pairing them together. Conclusion: It's a better deal for conscious buyers to spend $218 and buy 2xMotion+'s or $238 for 2xMotion Boom's than spending $199 for a single JBL Charge5.
Bass on Soundcore is about 1 dB lower than Charge BUT everything else is much better on Soundcore. Clarity , definition.....etc. JBL sounds muffled even with that added tweeter in the 5th generation.

@@DenniS-zw1zm Thank you for ur time :)
What's your music player? The white one..
th-cam.com/video/Al167UzPWc4/w-d-xo.html
Is soundcore motion+ great for rock, power metal? You know.. drums, kicks, cymbals, voice 😍
@@TurnFullCircle ohh, thanks! 👍
The Soundcore is way better off Axis
I give soundcore respect for it's price to performance ratio especially if people are willing to take the time to download the app and change EQ settings. But to me JBL is much better. It's conveniently good out of the box just push and play, no need to tweak EQ settings, and majority of people love a simple out of box solution with good sound and excellent BASS! it's also better looking too :)
Well said 👍
Yeap omg i think i just buy the jbl charge 5 its 140 now so i think its a good price but the other one sounds great too 🤔 which one
Nope i got Xtreme 3 and i just dont like it just a boomy bts when you max its volume got distorted i just dint like it..
@Freline he said: majority. Not everyone. Read before you comment.
Charge 5 : "Deep" Bass
Motion+ : Upper bass, mids, vocals and highs
However using BassUp really undersells the Motion+ as it lacks highs in bassup mode
What eq you apply on Motion+? Oluv's or Alan Ross'?
@@User-69-tq A modified version of Alan Ross EQ with more highs and slightly less upper bass
@@ThibautMahringer Thank you. Appreciate it
@@ThibautMahringer wdym by "upper bass" are you some fanboy? The Anker has a frequency response of 40Hz deeper than what the charge 5 can achieve.
Thankyou TH-cam for recommending this channel ..

Pls did the soundcore have the bass up feature enabled?
Which one has longer battery life at high volume?
JBL
Anker Soundcore Motion Plus sounded better.
are u sure the charge 5 at 100% volume have more deep base than the motion +????????
No it doesn't. At higher volume, JBL is shit.
@@theboston3386 No it's not
@@jblking3896 Fanboy. Do you know anything about frequency? Ridiculous comment. Go look it up.
@@theboston3386 I am not an Audiophile nor am I a fanboy.
Yes im a fan of JBL but I don't talk trash about other companies.
My Charge 5 already sounds incredible out the box, and even if I did want to EQ it, my phone has a built in equalizer.
@@jblking3896 Then you're overpaying. Soundcore boom. Done! Best bang for your buck and there's no argument.
I have owned both and think the JBL is much nicer to the ears. My ears start to hurt after a while , listening to the motion+. I tried multiple EQ settings but the JBL just sounds better to me. Sound is a very subjective thing so I think both are great in their respective price ranges!
...your ears started to hurt huh, yeah ok.
ok how bout a 2.1 setup? anker will handle the left right while jbl the sub. does the software support this setup? can mix with different brand?
Thanks, your opinion is very valuable to me
@@raulgamarra3363 no prob. Glad i could help.
Next time move the speaker to the middle so the sound is balanced to left and right
The Soundcore outperforms the JBL in a long way.
Tribit mega or motion plus ? Which one is better?
I well never be happy with a mono how much ever great it sounds, Soundcore goes hi fi and 3 way level which I love
Over all, which is more appropriate to have, both in terms of price and sound quality in all genres music sir?
I would prefer the sound core, but one of those songs just sounded like noise coming out of soundcore and the other made that 1 song sound like music.
Hello do you have soundcore motion boom vs xtreme 3 or charge 5?

Was the JBL Charge 5 on the latest firmware update at the time of this test? Another TH-camr showed the latest firmware as 6.something and the sound quality with the updated firmware was noticeably better.
The Jbl has more of a deep bass compared to the, soundcore motion plus has a thumping bass sound, though both speakers sound choice.
Should I get the Motion+ for 80€ or Charge 5 for 120€?
tough choice they are both great so it depends on your style and budget
I like how you show the frequencies on that screen cool
Which mp3 players are you using?
Hi check my review on the mp3 players that I use here: th-cam.com/video/Al167UzPWc4/w-d-xo.html
Impressive and cool testing!
Is it worth the upgrade from motion+ to jbl charge 5?
That's a tough one to answer, The Charge 5 is louder and bassier, the motion+ is clearer and has a stereo sound separation.
Great video.i love the latency test.good job bro.😊
Thank you 😊
I really don't understand how it's possible to sell mono speakers as a "big thing". This says a lot about audio knowledge of this generation
The Soundcore motion+ competes by sweeping the charge5 with great accuracy in the mids and highs, the low frequencies are for the charge5, in my opinion the Soundcore with those advantages, being stereo, and together with the price, is the real option
Anyone know the title of the song 7:13
Check the description bro
That sound core is not properly equalized. They're both great speakers.I had the extreme and it sounds perfect.EQ is key and many who get frustrated is cause of that.JBL has always been a great brand.Anker is newer but i love their products.I'm listenting to this sound test with my Anker soundcore life U2 neckband earphones and the sound is great.
For Price soundcore is the best and more so it's crestal clear

Hi.. which is better bass ?
JBL
I have 2 JBLs, different models, and sound cool, got 3 Soundcores, and the Motion Plus sounds very clear, JBLs have great bass, soundcore is more on clarity while maintaining their Bass, but both are great speakers, to each his own, Well the JBL is a bit pricey
Couldn't agree more 👍
JBL's mids and highs sound distorted when the bass drops, and is really a letdown for me. I like the bass more tho but the soundcore has more dynamic range, is more accurate I think, and those highs are really crisp with better frequency separation. Would go for the soundcore, but the JBL would sound better outdoors
In My country i get motion + 100 usd and JBL charge 5 145 usd What should I buy? I need it to last for a long time
made choice ?
Awesome dude 👍
How about motion boom?
Great affordable speaker Ive reviewed it here: th-cam.com/video/q6YvUBGz_20/w-d-xo.html
Use the eq man for the soundcore make the comparison more fair
The jbl is playing at its best why don't you play the soundcore at its best too
Hi. Bass up was on I've put that in the description but I havent tweaked the eq on the app. I wanted to compare them out of the box. But I agree I should have tried one of the mentioned eq settings, maybe on another video as I still have both speakers, please subscribe so you don't miss out 😊
Can u share anker eq setting pls thnx
Place the speakers on a shelf, At the corners for better stereo sound and bass sound reflection
For me jbl charge 5
Which speaker one chooses all depends on how you will use it and what type of music genre or audio you will be playing through them, they are both good speakers with its own distinctive characteristics. Yet you will find something better for the price you're paying for the Charge 5 on the market and conversely you would struggle to find anything better at the price point of the Motion Plus.
Any one knows what song title @ 18:09

Alan Ross does not even have a special Equalizer. He just boosted up every bands like a kid🤣🤣🤣

A
What if they’d cost the same as they do where I live? 😅
Charge 5 in your opinion is very good, but its value for money is not worth the money because it is only mono sound ..
when properly EQ'd (meaning whatever EQ you may also have running be disengaged) the Soundcore would shred the JBL
What is motion plus's battery life at 50% sound ??
Around 12 hrs.. I have mine for about 3 months.
Bass on Soundcore is about 1 dB lower than Charge BUT everything else is much better on Soundcore. Clarity , definition.....etc. JBL sounds muffled even with that added tweeter in the 5th generation.
Can you keep both of these plugged into power the whole time or does it not work when charging?
If it were me, I would buy both, so what would you guys do, would you buy both? Or would you choose one and get one?
If Anker made the soundcore better bass as the motion boom , the soundcore would be perfect
