I just bought a 2011 cbr250 and there are a few things i really like about it. I owned a ninja for nearly a year and loved it, it was my first bike and I will always have find memories of it and it might just have the edge in speed and having the power band makes it feel much faster, but... lots of little things about the cbr add up to making it a much nicer daily experience. The mirrors that allow you to clearly see what's behind you instead of a clear view of your shoulders, the fuel injection that let's you take off straight away even in the cold, the seat, the dash (fuel gauge!). Mostly little things but it's stuff you notice every single day of using it. I found the cbr much more confidence inspiring when it comes to hard turn ins and leaning right over, it just grips and grips and it wants to put itself upright so much yoy just lean hard as you want then relax and it rights itself quick and easy. The grip feeling might have a little too do with the nicer newer tyres I have on the cbr vs the ninja but I think I would be much more able/likely to get my knee down on the cbr (might also be the suspension set up for someone closer to my weight ~100kg). The cbr is not as exciting though. The power curve is so even and flat there is very little sensation of speed (I didn't believe the tacho the first time I rode it because it was such a calm experience). It's very confidence inspiring but not quite as fun. For my money the cbr makes a better first bike, if got really want a fast bike your going to have to wait til your not restricted, the little bit of extra speed (and it is a little) doesn't make up for the better daily Road manners. If you get a second bike while still restricted the ninja would make a great one though. Anyone would be lucky to have either though and it should really come down to whether you can find a good deal on a straight second hand example on either and get the better value one. As for the twin versus single for the cbr I also owned a vtr250 (though only for a month) and I found the vibration worse on the vtwin.
Great ride. Honest commentary with the diff between the 2. I'm downgrading to the CBR250 as I can't see the point in a SS. Who needs to travel at 160+. Just loose your licence anyway. 90% of my riding is weaving between city traffic anyway. TG for free parking in Brisy for us bikers.
The CBR is great because of ABS, electronic dash and fuel injection but the Ninja is faster, cheaper and I think better looking so I would keep the Ninja.
I own a CBR250R and I fully agree with you. The CBR is more of a utilitarian bike, a commuter bike (which is what I use it for). the single cylinder means lots of usable torque down low where you need it in city traffic. Both are great bikes that cater to a different riding style. Not saying you cant wind out the CBR, because I definitely do it, but if you want a true sportbike feel, the Ninja is probably what you want.
Tom, i new with honda. From your opinion which bike should i buy ninja or cbr 250..... I only used with my 125 scooter. So any suggestion would be delightful...
Sounds very smooth for a thumper. Sounds like two a 2cyl. I'd pick it over the Ninja 250 but now that the Ninja 300 is out I'd probably get it. That said, the new Honda 500s are out so buh, I dunno.
ninja's also have a more "sporty" engine and gearbox. The ninja has a power band from 9-12k rpm and itll take the hell off compared to lower gears, while the CBR has more even power placement across the revs. You should look at what you're going to do with the bike to make your decision. Light cruising and not wanting to lean the bike over a lot on the twisties means CBR. If u wanna be able to drag knees through turns and ride the hell out of the bike get a Ninja. That's been my experience!
So I'm basically stuck b/w these 2 bikes. Where i live the highway speed is 55mph and all around their its 55-60mph, towns like 45-55mph so I was wondering which bike would be able to take off and get to the speed of 50ish first and just excel off the start to beat and get ahead of traffic. Or are they both pretty much the same so it's up to me?
Guy who wanted the 125. I had it. Its only a city commuter. Dont expect to be overtaking anyone on the highway.I was in the m1 struggled to go 90kmh it just doesn't have the power.I had a CBR 125. I had a accident cause of the low power. In my opinion i should of got something a little stronger to get me out of sticky situation. You rarely stall a 250.
Usually let the engine warm up a little before revving like a loonatic, other than that, ride it like you stole it (like Tom). To warm up just ride regularly for 5 minutes and you're ready.
I just bought a used 2011 CBR250R been riding it for the past week. As a first bike I have no idea if this is normal or not but in 1st to 2nd gear going slow with clutch right out it's making this noise like the sprocket is worn out & not grabbing the chain, I can feel it throughout the handlebars. This is only when I'm going slow like 5 - 10k's
cbr 250/r made in Thailand is really good stable comfortble lightclass sbk ..even slower than ninja 250 fi ... ...but with almost similar in max torque ...cbr 250 r is not too bad to race against ninja 250 dual cyldr ...cbr 250 r never dies ...
This is pure speculation .. but I'm wondering if Honda was thinking Moto3 when they brought this bike to commercial market . as you know the transition from 2 stroke to 4 stroke 250cc was made the same year this bike was introduced... what i would like to see is a street version of their Moto3 MD250H or even the NSF250R
Can I ride with you guys once I get myself a Honda CBR250r?? xD I used to ride overseas with the the ninja 125 but am getting my learners here in Melbourne soon, and a Honda CBR sometime in a few months. None of my mates ride! But yes, Dandenong is my first destination to ride :)
Of the ninja 250 and the cbr250r I would go with the cbr250r without ABS. I would get rid of the ugly heavy exhaust and add a arrow exhaust which boost the power just slightly but gives the bike a deeper sound to it. But with the new kawasaki ninja 300 you get a much more powerfull bike (39hp vs the hondas 26.5hp) although much more expensive. I might though spring for the honda cbr500f, not the R model. The low rewing 471cc really seems odd with the sporting looks.
Cheaper? By how much? To me not significant enough to make a difference. After seeing comparisons in speed the Ninja would seem to need to have its neck wrung in order to show its greater speed. Too similar that I think the call becomes subjective.
I'm glad I got a Ninja 250R. The CBR250R is disgusting to look at and I would be embarrassed to admit that I owned one. The CBR250R does not deserve my money at all.

This old fogey loved the vid. Takes me back to my CB 250RS, Bultaco Metralla and Ducati MkIII - singles are OK!!!
Not to make your choice harder or anything but I would really look at the 2013 Ninja 250R first, it looks like a real game changer
I love Honda motorcycles. It's the brand that got me interested in motorcycles.

those brz's are really rare in oz at the moment. all booked out and all :P nice spot
You do sit more upright on the CBR, it would be better for someone 6ft+
Nice vid man Reving the Ballz off that 250
Tom, i new with honda. From your opinion which bike should i buy ninja or cbr 250..... I only used with my 125 scooter. So any suggestion would be delightful...

btw mint video keep it up bro
thank you
Oh right, thank you very muchly. You made up my mind, I'm going to get the CBR. Erm... Live long and prosper?!
Nice review
the amount of times you said 'i like it' was like subliminal messaging for me to click the like button
From my helmet cam perspective, you looked good on it, how tall are you and does the CBR feel weighty?
Sounds very smooth for a thumper. Sounds like two a 2cyl. I'd pick it over the Ninja 250 but now that the Ninja 300 is out I'd probably get it. That said, the new Honda 500s are out so buh, I dunno.
Frick yeah, I love hitting the dandenongs with other riders
Nice man thank you

what was the cruiser your mate was on? looks niiice
Will it damage the bike if I drive it like you did in the vid
"Ooh a b r zed!" I freaking love the cars! Cheers mate!

Did you ever get the chance to ride the Ninja 300? I bought mine a month ago and I'm in love! It's my mistress that I throw around ;)
Your bike sounds bassier.. do you have an aftermarket silencer?

Getting one of these in a few weeks :D
What was the top speed you hit mate??

which bike do you prefer, and which bike would you recomend
Do you sit more upright on the CBR? I'm 6 ft and I was wondering which bike to get so that I wouldn't look like I'm riding a minimoto.

Can you review the CBR300R?
Is there a gear indicator in the digital display?
I'm getting my license soon and I was wondering if a cbr 125 would be a good starting bike
so close to owning a '10 cherry red ninja 250r
How would this compare to aprillia 250r 2 stroke? Or the fzr 250 r k older bikes but any comments as lookin at both!

Is there a Ninja 125? Never heard of it.

Oh man, I live near there!
why do you rev the engine to downshift?, does it help in some way?
downshifting faster + less wear on the clutch
i have 6"2" (1.92cm) height which do u think is better for me?
Where abouts is this 'dandenongs' place?
whats ur exhaust system?
japan honda bike great!!
That's the difference between carby fed Ninja vs EFI of the CBR
Cheaper? By how much? To me not significant enough to make a difference. After seeing comparisons in speed the Ninja would seem to need to have its neck wrung in order to show its greater speed. Too similar that I think the call becomes subjective.
You have admit though, the Ninja250r looks nice and more like a bigger bike
Meant to turn left in that turn only... Dunce
OMG the new 2013 NINJA 300cc looks way better and more powerful
i ended up getting the ninja 300
I though you were riding on the wrong side of the road at first...

Subbed for that. Great vid!
ninja лучше! а если б ещё на ней стояла ABS было бы вообще класс!
Oh, brz :p
i think the ninja 300 is fuel injected too....dont hold me too it tho
I made 180 kmhr on cbr
I drag knees daily on MY CBR. So uhh.
KanaCommuter i was ganna say that lmao
The disregard you have for lanes is just unreal.
2013 Kawasaki NINJA 300 Special Edition is better more power and more sexy looking
ABS? ha! I dont need it in my bike. I have that device installed in my hands, feet and muscle memory.
+Mark Lim Until you fall of your bike ;l
FreaklyxXl I will certainly fall, but not because of the lack of ABS... Probably because of lack of care and stupidity.
I see you just like to be in front.. lmao...
your in the wrong lane bruh
skip 125 and go straight to 250..
you can do that in the uk...
I'm glad I got a Ninja 250R. The CBR250R is disgusting to look at and I would be embarrassed to admit that I owned one. The CBR250R does not deserve my money at all.
