    My Ninja 300 (first bike) was delivered today and I'm already in love with it. This video sealed it for me when buying the 300 :D

    Wish they'd make a 300cc 4 cylinder with 47hp would be the perfect starter bike :)

      Well... here we are 8 years later and they just announced the ZX4RR and we also have the ZX2R. Geez, I would have killed for either bike (we don't get the ZX2R in the states), but I am going to get the 400CC Inline 4. I will wait at lease a year though. When I got my Ninja 300, it had a lot of teething issues (fairings coming undone, ECU needing replaced, kickstand sensor going out while riding...), but I loved it. I had a ZX6-R 636 and I absolutely loved it, but it was overkill. I want another small bike.

    There is no need for a bike above 200cc or 250cc in many SE Asian cities, as you just spend your time goofing around in heavy traffic, a heavy powerful bike is a bad choice for such environments. There is a reason most people ride scooters, economy, manueverability, carrying capacity etc. Economy being the big one, so many are 150-160cc things. The only place you can use a 200cc+ ride is on a freeway.

    For anyone watching this recently and looking between a 250 or 300 ninja. Just go with the Ninja 300. It's such a better bike. Better fuel injection, clutch is great. Get the abs and it's great as well. The bike inspires a lot of confidence.
    I have had no riding experience jumped on the bike for about 5-10 mins up the road then proceeded to ride with the old man for about 3-4 hours in traffic with no issues. Just take your corners a bit slower until you're more comfortable with the bike.
    The best part about the ninja 300 is there is so much aftermarket options it's silly. you can replace the entire fairings on the bike for about $300-600 AUD. Just nonsensical.

      Looking at getting a 300 as my first bike, any advice on how much it costs in the long run for servicing etc? I'm looking to buy used since I'd rather not worry as much about dropping it etc.

    I just bought my 18 year old son a 2002 Ninja 250 for $850.00. Runs great, but has a few bumps and bruises here and there....thus the price. My son has had dirtbikes since he was 10, but only ridden them around the yard and next door parking lots.
    He has a 2000 BMW 540i V-8 6 Speed manual that we bought for $4,000.00 when he was 15. He has fixed everything in that car and even replaced the engine by himself along with every sensor in the car...so my investment in the car was worth it...he knows the BMW inside and out and that satisfies his "Need for Speed"
    Now the 250 Ninja is just an introduction bike since he wasn't able to drive the dirtbikes on the road when he was younger.
    He loves the 250 and the cost was minimal so it's all good !

    The 2005 Ninja 250R is the the one you want when it comes to small bikes. The 2005 250R dynos at 36HP and 18 ft-lbs torque. The new 300 dynos at 34.95HP and 18 ft-lbs. The last Ninja 250 (his old bike) dynos at only 25.48HP and only 13.47 ft-lbs. I don't know what they changed in 2005 but it's definitely faster in a straight line then all other 300 and smaller bikes. It wont even compare to the newer model 250 or probably 300 when it comes to cornering but get up and go is wear it shines. I spent almost 2 years hunting for a 2005 with less then 10K miles on it. I finally found one 3 years ago with only 2,700 miles on it in mint condition! I love my R6 but for some stupid reason that 250 is wear the fun's at! It's like the Miata of sport bikes. It's comfortable, you can always use all of its power, and I dare you to ride one without a grin on your face from ear to ear. If I'm going for a long ride I take the R6. But anywhere around town, my 250 and I are like 2 peas in a pod :)

    I traded my HD 883 in for a Kawasaki 300. I had never rode a sport bike before. If I would have known how much more fun a sport bike would be before the cruiser, I would have never purchased one. The 300 is an awesome bike, but I am already craving more power. I regret not purchasing the cbr 500 or the Ninja 650, so just keep in mind that you may grow out of the 300 quickly.

    were you rev-matching your upshift/downshifts at around 1:40 - 1:46? Because when I downshift it, I lug forward a little bit (due to closing the throttle completely when downshifting). And when I upshift, the RPMs rev all the way up high.
    I'm guessing I just have to be quick on engaging the clutch and shifting.

    At first I was in between starting with a 600 or 250! then I learn about the 300 and fall in love with the 300 right away! But right now to be honest I would take either the 250 or 300 don't care as long as I get a Bike by the summer! I would prefer the 300 but seems is around 1,000 more expensive and at the most I will have around 4k if I get lucky but 3,500 would be ideal to get a no older than a 2012 either 250 or 300

    • @matthewminogue3276
      @matthewminogue3276 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Honestly, the 250cc is good for a year. After it'll be a little underwhelming. But if you look at the perks, its super cheap price wise and still a lot of fun. I started on a 250cc and in curvy roads my friends on bigger bikes can barely keep up. So i'd recommend a 250cc. It'll make you a better driver and you'll learn to push your limits more (in a safe manner). Plus reselling it is easy.

    • @matthewminogue3276
      @matthewminogue3276 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      P.s. Ive never been on a 300cc. I assume it mustn't be too hard to drive either. I'd suggest you try both and go with the feel.

      Christian Espinoza the 300 is the way to go handles better basically same weight and a lot quicker if your short on money get the 250 but if you have 4500$-5000$ get the 300 100% way better bike

    • @BoardWalkToke
      @BoardWalkToke 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christian Espinoza 300, 300, 300. Why get a 250? The 300 is very forgiving as it is. I recently just got it as my first bike ever and I love it. Never at any point did I feel like it was too much power. start on that, then you can start to think about the 600s +

    ive had my ninja 300 for nearly two months now ive never had any riding experience before i purchased my bike secondhand off gumtree for 4k with rego n rwc
    i was nervous at first but it got comfortable after a few laps up and down the street and shifting into first and second. i dropped it in the first 15 minutes of riding i was riding at 10kms when i let go of the throttle abit the bike jerked forward as the engined braked and i panicked and the bike just fell. nothing was damaged only a small scratch on the side. the indicators were fine as they are integrated into the fairings so they couldnt be snapped off like other bikes if they were dropped.
    i got back on and started riding. my biggest mistake was not trusting the bike and i panicked.
    constant gear changing aswell as you instantly need to go from 1st into 2nd. the clutch is probably the most forgiving.
    ive made so many embarrassing gear changes its a joke but if it wasnt for how fogiving this bike is i would have been dead. i now know how to shift properly and smoothly and my knowledge is increasing the more i ride this bike.
    i am 120 kilos and this bike carries me around comfortably at 130kms on the ringroad everyday with a little more room to go faster.
    the bike encourages confidence in leaning in the corners. i have 140 back tyre diablo rosso 2 tyres i havent had any others so i dont know any better as i got nothing to compare too. just a lil info on my riding experience on the ninja 300 i ride every day rain hail or shine.
    its a great bike to learn how to ride but im warning you that too many safety features as abs and slipper clutch light weight handleing plus more upright position could hinder you when going to a more powerful bike with a much more agressive riding position. as you would depend on those safty features instead of learning proper technique in braking and what not.

    i know this question may be asked a lot but still going to ask again, which one would be a good bike to start off with I'm new to the motorcycle community and i was wondering which is better 250 or 300 keep in mind i am a new rider plus i know many people say start off with a 250 then buy a 300 later but i know i won't buy another motorcycle later on and if i do it will be very later when i have a lot of money

      @danieldolorez9854 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have some experience with twist throttle and shofting for example riding dirt bikes and stuff then youll be fine on a 300. If you have none what so ever start on a 250 definatly or you can fond a friend with both and try them and see which one you like more because it really is an opinion.

    Wasn't the owner kinda pissed for all the crazy jazz you were doing with his bike? Going up roundabouts and stuff. I'd like to watch you try out a Supermoto, those are probably the best city bikes.

    Ok so I need some opinions. I have an option of buying a ninja 300 2016 with 2200km's for 3300euros, while I can buy Ninja 250 2011 with 20.000km and sport exhaust for 1700euros. Which one should i go for ?

    • @Smaxie
      @Smaxie 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Yea I mean I know it's better idea, but I can get ninja 250 almost for the half the price... I am so not sure. I mean if I do go for a 300 I won't have any extra money to upgrade anything + to buy gear for myself. (I have cheap gear currently as I was riding a 125cc motorcycle).

      As you will probably sell a 250/300 to buy something bigger after a small amount of time, always go with the cheaper option! Unless the cheaper option is a piece of crap.

  • @sammywhythim777
    @sammywhythim777 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    It is a newer bike so 1000 dollars more is expected. The extra cc puts it 2 seconds faster 0-60 than the 250. I think it is a justified price.

    It's so funny to hear you say a 250 is slow, I ride a 125cc lol! ;) As that's all you can have at my age in the UK. Its a Yamaha YZF-R125 though so a very nice 125

      40-45 mpg is about average for the 600cc supersport bike, which isn't bad at all.

      Nick TreeJet would you say a 300 is a good beginning bike? I'm also 6'1/athletic.

    • @MrTreeJet
      @MrTreeJet 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a great starter bike especially if you haven't ridden before, and dirt bikes don't count. After 6 months I can imagine myself wanting something like a 600 later, but it's great on fuel and even on the motorway it's comfortable. You get your money's worth with the ability to apply full throttle. 10/10

    Well there are many riders out there that like the sports bike look, I personally wouldn't buy a CB400 because I prefer the look of a CBR, so the CBR500r is a perfect gap filler for people in my position.
    And it's like a 5 Horsepower difference, the 500r has noticeably more torque at a lower RPM
    It's a good addition from Honda, imo
