Nars concealer hides nothing. It’s great for people who have less to no blemishes. It makes my eyes look tired. Same, I’ve tried over corrector, with moisturizer, different tools and techniques but no luck. Thank you for being the only influencer here who is honest .
I just love your hot takes, though the Tower 28 tinted SPF is a personal holy grail and works like a charm on my combo-oily skin. Your content is stellar and I appreciate your channel so much.
I also did not like Summer Fridays lip butter balms either. After all the hype I gave in and it felt like I ate something oily and had to wipe my mouth. I kept it on for an hour and couldn’t take it anymore.
I find these sorts of videos helpful. I like to compare the opinions of a bunch of different beauty gurus when deciding to purchase or not purchase a product to see if it's actually a product for me or not.
I would also love a part two! Some of what didn’t work for you works for me, but I love the tone here of “not for me,” which makes sense because everybody’s taste and needs are distinct!

Thank you! I actually don’t wear foundation at this point, I just dot a concealer around my face and I find it always looks better. Mainly because I can’t find a dupe for my beloved discontinued MUFE invisible cover foundation

I actually really found this video helpful! When really hyped up products don’t work for me sometimes I’m confused why or what the issue is but hearing someone else talk about why things didn’t work was encouraging if that makes sense. LOVED this video and definitely want to see a Part 2! The Goop Unseen sunscreen, K18, Pat McGrath blush in that particular shade and the Dior lip balm also didn’t work out for me and for the same exact reasons though we have pretty different colouring and skin types.

Thank you!!! & I’ve heard that the Tower 28 glosses go off and shift color so fast. But the shades are so pretty!! Oh and the Nars creamy concealer that has baffled me for years!! It’s so dry and ridiculously hard to blend. Very strange. Glad you can relate to my utter confusion. I tried my moms ilia skin tint and holy cow. Literal coagulated globs of product came out of the dropper. Weird. Love the shimmery Bobbi brown shadow sticks. I wonder if they would be an improvement to the Laura Mercier.

I experience the same thing-I cannot take it off fast enough. I 1000% had the same experience with Amika hair products!
The Rare Beauty liquid blushes look so patchy on my skin no matter how I apply it. I had the same problem with Glossier cloud paints. Other cream blushes also emphasize texture on my face and they don't last long so I just stick with powder blushes 🤷♀️ I agree with the tower 28 and fenty lip glosses. Hot chocolit was the worst one, the glitter on that one actually hurt my lips 😣
I could not wash that Ilia skin tint off fast enough! I tried to wear it, but it felt like grease on my face. I agree with your dislike of dewy, shiny face products because I feel like I look oily and not hydrated. I would love to see a part 2.
I agree with all of your reviews of the products except 2: K18- It is only necessary for people with damaged hair (bleached, colored, over processed, etc). You seem to have very healthy and shiny hair, therefore this product is a waste of money for you and you can't tell a difference after use. I had very damaged hair and with one wash alone I noticed a huge difference. The condition of the hair matters. Amika- works for people who do want scent in their hair (I didn't think it was as noticable as you mentioned), but the products work very well. The hair mask is a miracle for my hair and the dry shampoo is the best on the market.
Awesome video! The products I’ve tried from your list, I totally agree with you. The Nars concealer is SO drying on me, I never understood what the hype was. This video has made me feel a lot less gaslit😊 the cream blushes from Moira are supposed dupes for the tower 28 ones but I think they are better as they dry down and stick around better. Tower 28 broke my heart with the tint. It was so lovely but I look too shiny!!! Love you Kait!

Haven't tried the mascara as I love Thrive & Ilia, but I love their lip jellies (the sheer & the milky ones & I never have noticed any weird or strong smell & I am very sensitive to that) , cream blushes ,the bronzer & their spf foundation . Oh yea..also their SOS spray. And speaking of lip glosses with overpowering smell....I went to Sephora & tried that Gwen Stefani gloss you love & I fell inn love with the formula & color (using hand swatches), but the smell was absolutely overpowering/slickening on me (also read reviews about that) & did not dissipate & I knew if I bought it I wouldn't be able to wear it. Ugh!! Had the same thing with a Tarte lip gloss I used to love years ago. And I just tried Danessa Myricks color fix in the foil called "Alien" & returned it after one use as it was all glitter & not metallic at all. I just ordered the new Wander beauty limited edition eyeshadow duo you mentioned as that looks so gorgeous!! Sorry for the long winded comment. lol. 😎
My problem with Supergoop’s Unseen is the silicon textur. the amount you need to use on the face for the SPF to be effective, is a big goop of silicone. Makes my stomach turn because my body reacts like like I am piling. Just Piling on a ‘primer’ 🤣. Once I am done with the tube not repurchasing it. I love the Dr Gross mineral sunscreen but like you I hate ‘glowy’ and I am a matured skin person who welcomes skincare hydration but the glow emphasizing every line and pore is terrible. As a NC40 skintone I had such a hard time with rare beauty liquid blues that I returned it ( a rarity for me) And I am used to working with liquid blushes, remember Benetint of days gone by ? 🤣 used a drop on a palette, mixed it and then and only then on my cheeks. But nope not for me. Admire lighter skinned people who are so adept at working with this formula so beautifully.
Fleurtatious didn’t work for me either unfortunately 😭 but try cherish it’s the perfect bright pink! It’s super pigmented but the color is absolutely gorgeous you would love it!
I’d love a Part 2. Okay I completely agree with the makeup by Mario lip serum. It bleeds out of my lip lines. Hated T28 lip jellies. I rage used up all three.😂. The illumination bronzer looked great in low light but in sunlight looked like I had weird gold glitter on my face like a gold tin man. I took one whiff of the Fenty Gloss Bomb and immediately returned it. And the Fenty skin tint brought out texture previously unseen. Now Unseen Sunscreen is my all time favorite chemical sunscreen. Love Summer Fridays lip butter balms. Nars radiant creamy concealer works for my teen and me and I like the fluertatipus blush. I like the Rare Beauty shimmery liquid blushes but not the mattes. Love being able to compare notes with people whose opinion I enjoy and respect.🥰

I agree with you about the amika having such a strong fragrance, eww too much. My all time favorite hair line is coco and eve, they have a fig scent but it’s not too overpowering, and doesn’t linger but the shampoo and conditioner have really changed my hair!
Omg...so on spot. I feel exaclty the same about all these products. I tried all of them and either gave them away or returned them. The biggest fail, Merit stick foundation concealer and K18 mask.
I'm so glad I was able to try the Caviar Stick with my Sephora BDay gift because it was pretty evident it wasn't for me. I had wanted one for so long, but it was an instant crease. I love this concept!!! ❤️
I love this video and totally agree with the products I've tried. Like Ilia's Super Serum and Merit's Complexion Stick. I almost bought Pat McGrath's blush in Fleurtacious based on people recommending it to you. I just didn't think it would be pigmented enough and went with Divine Rose instead. It's lovely and we have a similar skin tone.
Completely agree on Mario lip product. I realized how drying they were after I bought 4. And the Tower 28 Lip Jellies. I thought the smell was awful and yes they slipped all over. Not a fan. Love the Merit l’avenue lip color on you. ❤
Hi Kait! I have you to thank for turning me on to Fitglow Lip Serum! I feel panicky if I need to reapply it and there isn’t one at hand, even have backups for my favorite shades now! The Fenty gloss bombs do not come close. I declutterred them! I agree with you on most of the products that were a no-go for you, especially the YTP cleanser. I am not a big fan of T28 mascara either, so I may be the atypical makeup consumer! Just feel it is gloppy on my lashes unless I really scrape it against the tube before applying. Maybe my tube was overfilled or something, dunno! The Merit complexion stick, same, what a dud! Not adaptable to dry skin in the least-even if I just super moisturized!! Plus the product itself keeps falling out of the component! I so wish I had the wasted money back in my wallet. My resolution for 2023 is to not be so easily swayed to buy beauty products! At the rate I am going now, a lot of my purchases will go bad before I can even finish them! 🫢

I agree with you on not liking so many of these products and feeling like there is something wrong with me! I will say I also hated the tower28 mascara at first but just kept it around and now that it dried out a bit I LOVE it!
I had a sample of that ILIA Super Serum and it looked absolutely awful on me! Their other one, True Skin Serum, seemed a bit easier to work with. I always enjoy hearing the "why" behind products working or not working, since everyone has different preferences, skin types, dealbreakers, etc.
Finally I have found a person who understands the struggles with slippery lipsticks that go to your throat and make you want to wash it away immediately

My hair and skin must be so different than yours. K18 absolutely saved my hair when I bleached it from dark brown to blonde. I love Tower 28’s products on my skin and I’m obsessed with the Nars creamy concealer. Loved hearing your thoughts regardless!
I’ve been trying EVERYTHING from Rare Beauty. Their eye shadow primer, setting spray, foundation, tinted moisturizer, and brushes are my current favorites. I just ordered one of the new highlighter powders and the new brush. But the bronzer stick everyone loves was meh for me, I HATE the liquid eyeliner, and I haven’t felt compelled to try the liquid blush. I love liquid and cream blush! But I haven’t tried theirs. I think I’m afraid after all the hype I won’t like them.
I feel like Ilia serum skin tint is for dry skin. I have an oily skin and it didn’t work out for me and I gave it to a friend with dry skin and it looked incredible on her
The only product for merit that didn’t work for me was the foundations stick. Absolutely awful. The only way I can wear the Nars concealer is as an all over foundation base. Putting a lighter shade under my eyes is never a good look for me 😢
I can't believe Danessa Myricks foils didn't make it, it's my absolute favourite liquid glitter formula, but then I love textured eyeshadow more than anything and I actually do not like the matte color fix formula at all. Laura Płuciennik: It's actually common sense that a product that is a holy grail for one person is a fail for another. Every human has different skin even at different times during their lifetime or during a month. It doesn't mean a product is bad, it means it didn't work for a particular human. Human skin is a spectrum from oily to dry and everything in between. You have to find what works for you.
Couldn’t agree more with you on the Tower 28 lip jellies. I was so excited to try them based on so many rave reviews from other TH-camrs but when I actually tried them I was so disappointed. The smell is awful I can’t describe it but I hate it 😭 it’s unfortunate because the colors are amazing. Going to try to use all of them up because it’s too late and I’ve already spent the money but I won’t be repurchasing 😪
I mostly agree with you about all the Tower 28 stuff, but I do like the Merit complexion stick and don't feel that it emphasizes wrinkles or other texture issues at all for me. Hmmmm.
The YTP cleanser smells incredible but I feel like it does not get my skin clean. I love bioderma’s sensibo liquid for a foamy cleanser, glossier milky jelly, and Sunday Riley’s ceramic slip which all thoroughly clean without stripping
I wholeheartedly agree with Tower 28 mascara and Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush. The mascara just doesn't do anything for me, and the blush is way too pigmented and finicky to work with. I wanted to like them, but I just can't use them anymore.
Briogeo is quickly replacing ALL my hair care products. Every product I’ve tried from them has worked like magic on my hair compared to other brands. My hair is super fine and super finicky.
It’s not just you, Kait. Even as someone who prefers a lighter weight lip product, the Tower 28 lip glosses were way too messy. I loved the shades, but the formula was uncomfortable and kinda drying. For my fellow enjoyers of a lighter-weight lip gloss, the nooni lip oils would be my top rec. They have a lot of “shades” of those lip oils, but they all eventually turn that bright pH-lip-stain-pink. If you don’t mind that, the stain is even, strong, and weightless.
I’m very late here but if you or someone reads this, who feels the same way about the summer fridays lip balms, OLE HENRIKSEN. Hear me out. It’s soooo thick, the yellow one is clear if you have light skin, the tinted ones are sooo beautiful. They’re multifunctional because they are basically a lip gloss, they last for hours. My fave is the yellow and the red one
I’ve always wondered what you thought about the tower28 lip jellies! I also don’t like them, they’re too sticky and there are other better products. My friend loves their bright pink gloss though, so there you go! I also don’t love the cream blush because it fades so quickly. I agree I love the brand though!

I’ve been saying this about the Summer Fridays lip mask! Drives me crazy how everyone seems to love it. It looks great as a shiny lip balm but doesn’t last and actually dries my lips out as soon as it fades.
My ONLY issue with the fenty glosses is they get in my mouth too. They look and smell incredible, but even if I put just a little on it somehow I end up tasting it and it’s gross. I have shimmers and creams-all the same issue

I would def take a look at the shade Divine Rose in the PMG blush. I had the same issue with Fleurtatious, but Divine Rose is 👍

Totally agree with you on the taste and feel of the Tower 28, Fenty, Summer Fridays lip balms, so I'm glad I never bit the bullet on the rare beauty and makeup by mario ones! Total sucker for Dior though 😁

Haven't tried the mascara as I love Thrive & Ilia, but I love their lip jellies (the sheer & the milky ones & I never have noticed any weird or strong smell & I am very sensitive to that) , cream blushes ,the bronzer & their spf foundation . Oh yea..also their SOS spray. And speaking of lip glosses with overpowering smell....I went to Sephora & tried that Gwen Stefani gloss you love & I fell inn love with the formula & color (using hand swatches), but the smell was absolutely overpowering/slickening on me (also read reviews about that) & did not dissipate & I knew if I bought it I wouldn't be able to wear it. Ugh!! Had the same thing with a Tarte lip gloss I used to love years ago. And I just tried Danessa Myricks color fix in the foil called "Alien" & returned it after one use as it was all glitter & not metallic at all. I just ordered the new Wander beauty limited edition eyeshadow duo you mentioned as that looks so gorgeous!! Sorry for the long winded comment. lol. 😎
My problem with Supergoop’s Unseen is the silicon textur. the amount you need to use on the face for the SPF to be effective, is a big goop of silicone. Makes my stomach turn because my body reacts like like I am piling. Just Piling on a ‘primer’ 🤣. Once I am done with the tube not repurchasing it.
I love the Dr Gross mineral sunscreen but like you I hate ‘glowy’ and I am a matured skin person who welcomes skincare hydration but the glow emphasizing every line and pore is terrible.
As a NC40 skintone I had such a hard time with rare beauty liquid blues that I returned it ( a rarity for me) And I am used to working with liquid blushes, remember Benetint of days gone by ? 🤣 used a drop on a palette, mixed it and then and only then on my cheeks. But nope not for me. Admire lighter skinned people who are so adept at working with this formula so beautifully.
Fleurtatious didn’t work for me either unfortunately 😭 but try cherish it’s the perfect bright pink! It’s super pigmented but the color is absolutely gorgeous you would love it!

I’d love a Part 2. Okay I completely agree with the makeup by Mario lip serum. It bleeds out of my lip lines. Hated T28 lip jellies. I rage used up all three.😂. The illumination bronzer looked great in low light but in sunlight looked like I had weird gold glitter on my face like a gold tin man. I took one whiff of the Fenty Gloss Bomb and immediately returned it. And the Fenty skin tint brought out texture previously unseen. Now Unseen Sunscreen is my all time favorite chemical sunscreen. Love Summer Fridays lip butter balms. Nars radiant creamy concealer works for my teen and me and I like the fluertatipus blush. I like the Rare Beauty shimmery liquid blushes but not the mattes. Love being able to compare notes with people whose opinion I enjoy and respect.🥰

I agree with you about the amika having such a strong fragrance, eww too much. My all time favorite hair line is coco and eve, they have a fig scent but it’s not too overpowering, and doesn’t linger but the shampoo and conditioner have really changed my hair!
Omg...so on spot. I feel exaclty the same about all these products. I tried all of them and either gave them away or returned them. The biggest fail, Merit stick foundation concealer and K18 mask.

I had that same issue with Fenty lip gloss. I kept tasting it in my mouth. I had to return it. I couldn't tolerate the perfume taste.
I am so glad you found the tower 28 glosses unremarkable! I have not had a great experience with the formula either, and thought I was totally crazy!

I love this video and totally agree with the products I've tried. Like Ilia's Super Serum and Merit's Complexion Stick. I almost bought Pat McGrath's blush in Fleurtacious based on people recommending it to you. I just didn't think it would be pigmented enough and went with Divine Rose instead. It's lovely and we have a similar skin tone.

Completely agree on Mario lip product. I realized how drying they were after I bought 4. And the Tower 28 Lip Jellies. I thought the smell was awful and yes they slipped all over. Not a fan. Love the Merit l’avenue lip color on you. ❤

As a dark skin person I layer cream and set it with powder blush because it won't last as long and I like my blush to really pop on my face!

Hi Kait! I have you to thank for turning me on to Fitglow Lip Serum! I feel panicky if I need to reapply it and there isn’t one at hand, even have backups for my favorite shades now! The Fenty gloss bombs do not come close. I declutterred them! I agree with you on most of the products that were a no-go for you, especially the YTP cleanser. I am not a big fan of T28 mascara either, so I may be the atypical makeup consumer! Just feel it is gloppy on my lashes unless I really scrape it against the tube before applying. Maybe my tube was overfilled or something, dunno! The Merit complexion stick, same, what a dud! Not adaptable to dry skin in the least-even if I just super moisturized!! Plus the product itself keeps falling out of the component! I so wish I had the wasted money back in my wallet. My resolution for 2023 is to not be so easily swayed to buy beauty products! At the rate I am going now, a lot of my purchases will go bad before I can even finish them! 🫢

I agree with you on not liking so many of these products and feeling like there is something wrong with me! I will say I also hated the tower28 mascara at first but just kept it around and now that it dried out a bit I LOVE it!
Mascaras do that all the time for me too! I hated Thrive at first but then it dried to a great consistency. Maybe I’ll give the Tower 28 another go

I had a sample of that ILIA Super Serum and it looked absolutely awful on me! Their other one, True Skin Serum, seemed a bit easier to work with. I always enjoy hearing the "why" behind products working or not working, since everyone has different preferences, skin types, dealbreakers, etc.
Finally I have found a person who understands the struggles with slippery lipsticks that go to your throat and make you want to wash it away immediately

My hair and skin must be so different than yours. K18 absolutely saved my hair when I bleached it from dark brown to blonde. I love Tower 28’s products on my skin and I’m obsessed with the Nars creamy concealer. Loved hearing your thoughts regardless!

I’ve been trying EVERYTHING from Rare Beauty. Their eye shadow primer, setting spray, foundation, tinted moisturizer, and brushes are my current favorites. I just ordered one of the new highlighter powders and the new brush. But the bronzer stick everyone loves was meh for me, I HATE the liquid eyeliner, and I haven’t felt compelled to try the liquid blush. I love liquid and cream blush! But I haven’t tried theirs. I think I’m afraid after all the hype I won’t like them.
I feel like Ilia serum skin tint is for dry skin. I have an oily skin and it didn’t work out for me and I gave it to a friend with dry skin and it looked incredible on her
The only product for merit that didn’t work for me was the foundations stick. Absolutely awful. The only way I can wear the Nars concealer is as an all over foundation base. Putting a lighter shade under my eyes is never a good look for me 😢

I can't believe Danessa Myricks foils didn't make it, it's my absolute favourite liquid glitter formula, but then I love textured eyeshadow more than anything and I actually do not like the matte color fix formula at all. Laura Płuciennik: It's actually common sense that a product that is a holy grail for one person is a fail for another. Every human has different skin even at different times during their lifetime or during a month. It doesn't mean a product is bad, it means it didn't work for a particular human. Human skin is a spectrum from oily to dry and everything in between. You have to find what works for you.
Couldn’t agree more with you on the Tower 28 lip jellies. I was so excited to try them based on so many rave reviews from other TH-camrs but when I actually tried them I was so disappointed. The smell is awful I can’t describe it but I hate it 😭 it’s unfortunate because the colors are amazing. Going to try to use all of them up because it’s too late and I’ve already spent the money but I won’t be repurchasing 😪

Ugh Nars concealer creases on me and makes my under eyes so dry and crapey!!
It’s so frustrating because every pro MUS loves it and I simply cannnnnnnot get it to look good on me, which makes me think it’s my fault 😂
The YTP cleanser smells incredible but I feel like it does not get my skin clean. I love bioderma’s sensibo liquid for a foamy cleanser, glossier milky jelly, and Sunday Riley’s ceramic slip which all thoroughly clean without stripping
I wholeheartedly agree with Tower 28 mascara and Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush. The mascara just doesn't do anything for me, and the blush is way too pigmented and finicky to work with. I wanted to like them, but I just can't use them anymore.

Briogeo is quickly replacing ALL my hair care products. Every product I’ve tried from them has worked like magic on my hair compared to other brands. My hair is super fine and super finicky.
It’s not just you, Kait. Even as someone who prefers a lighter weight lip product, the Tower 28 lip glosses were way too messy. I loved the shades, but the formula was uncomfortable and kinda drying. For my fellow enjoyers of a lighter-weight lip gloss, the nooni lip oils would be my top rec. They have a lot of “shades” of those lip oils, but they all eventually turn that bright pH-lip-stain-pink. If you don’t mind that, the stain is even, strong, and weightless.
I’m very late here but if you or someone reads this, who feels the same way about the summer fridays lip balms, OLE HENRIKSEN. Hear me out. It’s soooo thick, the yellow one is clear if you have light skin, the tinted ones are sooo beautiful. They’re multifunctional because they are basically a lip gloss, they last for hours. My fave is the yellow and the red one
I’ve always wondered what you thought about the tower28 lip jellies! I also don’t like them, they’re too sticky and there are other better products. My friend loves their bright pink gloss though, so there you go! I also don’t love the cream blush because it fades so quickly. I agree I love the brand though!

I’ve been saying this about the Summer Fridays lip mask! Drives me crazy how everyone seems to love it. It looks great as a shiny lip balm but doesn’t last and actually dries my lips out as soon as it fades.

My ONLY issue with the fenty glosses is they get in my mouth too. They look and smell incredible, but even if I put just a little on it somehow I end up tasting it and it’s gross. I have shimmers and creams-all the same issue
