There is nothing that Jonathan and his team don't touch that comes out pure gold! It's the best of American engineering and bespoke building!

I forgot to close my mouth throughout the video.....man old is gold, thank you John and team, really bring back the real car era, I am so so blown away......I will keep driving for days, if I owned one. Praying and working hard for that......

I doubt I will ever be able to afford one of your cars but just wanted to say how much I love the derelict series, they are stunning works of art. Absolutely beautiful.

@@simonstovebolt with all due respect, but somone is making a fucking huge deal on these. Let's say with all the stuff they put on the cars, they spend about 40 to 50k (chasis, motor, brakes, etc etc etc) and a prive tag of at least a 100k mmm I rather find myself an old car, put on let's say 30k and have it made into a derelict. Love the cars? Hell yeah, would I pay the price for them? Fuck no.

Build your own! Consider these as inspiration to get out there, find something you like and resto-mod it how you want it.
If you don't know how, learn! Building a car is always a learning experience, even for those of us that have done it before.

    • @simonstovebolt
      @simonstovebolt 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Building my own I am already at $180,000 and the work isn't as extensive as what Jonathan Ward does as in LS7's ect and the electronics so at 200k to 250k I feel its probably good value and sure there making money but the man hours in those cars are huge

Jonathan Ward, sir. You and your team are just by far the best. The Derelicts are definitely my bag. I don't believe that you could make one that I wouldn't drool over. The only way I could ever own one is if I win the lottery, and my gorgeous missus is on board with your superb dreams. I wish all Your team, long and healthy lives so as you can build the dreams. Take care guy's.

***** ......... Thankyou for replying to my comment. Your timing was perfect. I've commented many times on your site about the fantastic dreams you and your excellent team deliver, but that was the first time you'd sent a reply. Thankyou for that, it was my wife's and my birthday that day, (our 25th birthday together)......and you made it so special by replying. Weird things like that happen to us all the time, I suppose that's what life's all about....?... I just wanted to say thankyou Jonathan, that was really nice of you. .......ps.......I hope you have good birthday's, they're special days to remember.

Thank you for the video showing your fine workmanship. I was 15 when that was the auto to see it being driven down the street in Toledo. WW 2 was over and the auto companies started back in production again with the prewar models with some face lift. That massive front grille made it stand out from all of the other post war cars. The flowing lines of that coupe was just right.

You're doing what I wanted to do in the 70's. It's a little bittersweet. But knowing now just how much goes into one of these I feel a little easier about having stuck to smaller projects. Back then the dream was Konis and Pirelli P-7's. I had a friend with a field full of fugly cars. Hudsons and things I've never even seen before. Turbos were still new, and plasma cutters and tig were still a dream for me. So in the end, seeing these come to fruition is super satisfying. So glad you share it.

    It's just absolute quality throughout.
Custom embossed rollers to create a one off pattern for the leather...Art Morrison chassis...Countless hours of re-purposing and redesigning switches and controls. It's so thorough and absolutely complete.

You reminded me of my father when you took a drag on that smoke. He always traded in at 50,000 miles. I always knew when the car was done as there were seven burn holes in the upholstery from his hot coals.
Great car, flawless design and build execution.

Beautiful work as always, Mr. Ward and team. Thank you for sharing it.
I love how you guys integrate modern functionality and reliable systems into your Derelict line while keeping with as much stock and as found appearance as possible.
The older vehicles just have so much more style and class, so it's really great that they can be sort of preserved in this way and made into great running vehicles again.
And great choice on the music.

I know someone who has a 1953 Chevy pickup that's been stored since the early 70s in a garage here in Illinois. I hadn't seen the truck since 1981 but when I visited my friend John at his mom's house, the truck was still there! I thought for sure that when John moved out his dad would have gotten rid of it (the truck is John's). I would love to see him be able to afford doing a derelict on it.

What's not to like about your Icon Derelict project cars. But you already know that! All of the vintage old, large sedans and coupes are my favorite but I also love what you do with the 70's Ford Bronco which you appear to love as well and have an ample supply of future projects piling up. I would love to take one of those off your hands but I don't think my wallet is fat enough. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

Beautiful!!! What a great car! The lines of the body are just gorgeous. The stance is perfect. And the fact that you kept all that and brought all the modern tech and comfort to it and added things like the embossed deer hide and the mohair headliner take this build to a level that is beyond compare. I really dig these Derelict builds. I haven't seen one yet that I didn't love. Now for the other comments about you smoking in the car... STFU Jesus let the guy enjoy his vice. Maybe the customer is a smoker. Relax y'all. For all anyone knows maybe it was a joint and not a cigarette. It is California afterall. And I think it fit well with the build. An excessive bad habit with an excessive over the top restomod build. Awesome car. I really wish I could afford one.

At first glance you could be tricked into thinking it’s just an old cool car that has been sitting around for ever. Then you start noticing things, and the party begins. I love it. Back after WWII my Dad and Uncle had an ambulance service. One of the vehicles was a 47 Lincoln Zepher. The color was light bluish. I want to call it Army Blue if you know my meaning. V12 the thing was huge and long. In 1969 we sold it to the studios for $500.00

I love what you've done to this Lincoln! It's great that it came from South Dakota. I grew up in North Dakota and restored some 1950's era convertibles with my brother and dad in the 1980's. My dad is in his late 70's and knows where a lot of old cars are stored in barns and buildings in central North Dakota. I'd love to do something like this someday!

Today, 12/14/15, is the first day I've seen one of your videos and I'm truly impressed. I must compliment you on your creativity and craftsmanship. Your shop's work is far and away superior in every detail to that of a now deceased competitor's crap. Also, I appreciate that you don't resort to humiliating your crew members by having a stooge fire them on camera.
If I could find but one thing to change, it would be to hire a qualified narrator for these shows. The successful candidate would display exceptional diction and proper descriptive expression skills. Thanks a lot you guys!

Too many purists whining about "you should have kept the car original." Don't listen to the haters--if you restored the car to original condition it may have satisfied classic car owners but would not be a reliable daily driver/road trip vehicle. The car looks great and the derelict look with original patina is a good idea.

I noted saying "Kind of a shame sometimes to put the body on this ... [chassis]" - I loved that comment. Though I know and understand the emotions of the old coming to life I wonder what would happen if the body got a good painting, not too shiny, though also not too "patina-like". Violin makers sometimes wavers between false patina and just lacquer finish, taste varies - and old violins are carefully preserved with the natural acquired patina.

I love the 'derelict ' look for the body , but if I was lucky enough to own it I would want original LOOKING wheels , trims and hub caps ,.with a higher ground clearance too . Those old Lincolns had a really imposing look in stock shape - ( just my personal taste ) .
