Don't give up on me yet, folks! 😂 I have never experienced this kind of slow growth from a pothos cutting, but of course we adapt and overcome! Some exciting stuff will be in next month's update, so stay tuned! Also, don't forget to check out Matt's video and be part of the fun
Yay! I’m so glad that my comment helped. You have a ton going on, and sometimes it’s easy to miss the little things, when all of the exciting new strategies are forefront on your mind. I’m rooting for both of you in this race. 😂
I hope someday I will be ready to take on a challenge like this, but I have to learn from the masters first, so please keep posting, Sensei.
I laughed when you cursed because I don't think I've ever heard you curse 😂. Also loving the friendly competition and watching you two showcase your humor
Haha...oh I curse but keep it good clean family content
@@EverythingPlants I like that you keep it clean for the most part. It makes the random bleep from this video all the more funny imo. :D
@@charlie81dbz thanks! 😂
😂made me laugh too. That’s exactly what I am like when I find a thrip
Fantastic update! I really enjoyed it a lot and loved the bit on PH. also the thrip discovery bleep was so funny. I'm very excited about the next month or 2 seeing the plants really being to establish
Ya, me too. Mine is on the plank!
We aren't giving up on you🎉🎉. It always seems that the more important something is, the longer it takes or has issues. We are all learning a lot from this competition 😍🤩.
Oh ya I'm not worried.....onward and upward!
Those darn pests! I was sooo annoyed I wanted to reach through the screen and squish that 🤬🤬🤣. Glad you’re still in the game.
Heading over to Techplant now.
It won't slow me down! Hahaha (evil laugh)
Hi Jeff. Fun watching your pothos race! I save the burned wood from our fire pit and use a chunk of charcoal in my water props to prevent algae growth. Works pretty well. 🙂
Thanks for that tip....I've never heard that one before!
I am a HUGE TechPlant fan, as I am yours, but I was so much happier with your first video because it gives us the viewers/learners more info. I'm following along, trying to replicate what I want to try from your strategies.
Thanks so much ladylove34
This is the coolest idea. I’m kinda doing a race against myself to see how big leaves I can get on a massive Pothos cutting I ordered. I’m going to be starting a series on my Chanel soon about it
I love this series, for one its really breaking down a lot of msthods and theit effectiveness, in a way you wont ysually see on youtube, with realistic updates too
Glad you enjoy it! I'm loving it as well haha
I love it! Looking forward to the results of competition. Those dang thrips!
How in the world did I miss this? I’ll have to go back and try to find the first video. 🤷♀️ I only watch every video you post.
I also made a playlist where I'll keep all the videos
I've found that Pothos cuttings (whether all top or all stem cuttings), though taken at the same time from the same plant, can have dramatically varying degrees of root growth (may be something to do with random scattering of plant hormones inside stems?). Maybe next time agree a game plan of three cuttings from the get-go ~ then pick the best for potting up. Also, your competition cutting may make faster progress in its own jar of water where it doesn't have to compete for nutrients/oxygenated water with other stems...just an idea. BTW, Oscar looks so cute in his reindeer antlers!
It’s exciting! Glad you’re still on the game. Thanks for sharing Jeff!
Awesome! Glad to hear you think it's exciting too
Beautiful and amazing plants lovely collection beautiful
So nice of you
Love this idea guys. This is great I can’t wait to see what happens every month. I look forward to these videos.
More awesome content to come!
Ugh thrips!! Best of luck. Really enjoying seeing updates from both of you!
Haha thanks
Oh boy its taking it's sweet time rooting, I'm surprised because you use nutrients thought the roots would be longer. Hang in there they will grow. Fun to watch this challenge.
It was satisfied with the root growth once it actually started to grow haha
I’m dealing with thrips right now too 😭 appears to be isolated to one of my greenhouse cabinets, have only seen adults which is kinda weird, such a pain the butt 😤
That's the same for me.... I've only seen the adult ones.
@@EverythingPlants I’m going away for 2.5 weeks soon so I’m a little worried for what I’m going to come back to 😆 I check the cabinet multiple times a day to squish them when I see them lol
@@em5140 have you ever tried beneficial bugs for thrips? Might be something to consider, at least for the cabinet
@@EverythingPlants yaaa I have tried in the past and I think I might have to do that now. Worth a shot anyways. I don’t want them to spread. Thrips are the worst!
Can't wait to see how this will turn out, happy growing!
Thanks!
I have faith in you I also use a little fertilizer in my water when rooting march on you can do it 😊
Thanks!!!
Nooo not thrips! I laughed at that clip though 🙊
Haha... That's all you can do is laugh!
You’ve got this! Really excited to keep up to date with this series 😊
You and me both! Haha
@@EverythingPlants lol a rough start doesn't mean the whole journey will be tough 🤞🤞
@@talisarose480 oh ya.....I'm not worried about it at all.
Love this contest going on with you guys, I will be starting my own pothos experiments, but just doing it to see the results, nothing competitive lol. Thanks for sharing!
Anything specific for the type of experiments you'll be doing?
@@EverythingPlants one thing I’m doing is seeing if I can control the diversity of the leaf designs according to the stem cutting. Basically checking for repeatability or how consistently certain traits carry over onto the new leaves.
I did some cuttings of my neon pothos and I had the aerial roots browning and fall off too 😅
I change the water remove the Browning spray hydrogen peroxide and now they're big and healthy 😅
It's weird sometimes how fast they bounce back!!!
Im so sorry for the thrips infestation 😢
Glad your pothos bounced back quickly!
I’m glad it’s working finally. You go!!
Nice progress Jeff
I just watched his! This is so exciting! ❤
Thanks Bobbie!
Ja daję trzykrotkę i trochę węgla do ukorzenienia sadzonek
I’ll be checking my PH levels first thing in the morning!
Some really unique challenges! Good luck!
Adapt and overcome!
Hey Jeff, im doing the competition with you guys 🥰 I have cuttings in water as well 🥰 Also, did you know that cancer cannot survive in alcalin water? It thrives in acidic water! Last thing, my monstera has had thrips for a few months, I dont see them but see the damages. What do you use here in Canada? I’ve tried nematodes from Environmental Factor company but It doesn’t seem to work. Im quite desperate to be honest. I also used the insecticide spray you use, and used Kill this plant secret recipe. I may just put it outside but it’s big, I don’t want to kill it lol It’s funny though cause you don’t seem to be worried like me 🤣
Thanks for your update ❤
I started using a spray called pure crop 1 for the bugs.
@@EverythingPlants Amazon doesnt seem to sell it, do you order from the company directly?
Thank you
Can you share your lights? Also, I noticed in one of your videos, you had a humidifier running
Hi Jeff! I'm rooting for you! 😂
Probably a little late but I curious as per your competition so I looked up "best grow light spectrum for rooting" and found what I suspected. Blue light.... I dont know why I had never thought of this before as I've rooted countless cuttings but it's got me thinking I should move my cuttings under my blue light instead of my barrinas.
Tech plant drilled grooves in a small plank and had potted it up. The grooves feel like cheating to me. Watch out
No rules except it needs to grow on wood!
Please don't give up until day 365. Also I'm wondering if you're overthinking things and getting in your own way. You know what to do, trust yourself. 💚
Haha....it's all for show
How fun ❤
I know!
Oh no!!
It's all good lol
When's the update for this month? 👀 Also, are you both going to use different stands? Ex, plank vs pole?
AHAHA "you moth.." 💪🏻
Haha. I had to bleep it out
LOL Oscar! 😂
What a sneak lol
Hey there, are you still growing your Alocasia Silver Dragon in perlite? Is it thriving? Currently having some trouble with mine and thinking about switching to perlite as well. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Much love from Bklyn, NYC ✌️
Do you ever use ladybugs for pest control?
Yes! My daughter collects them for me haha
I did not see your heat pad?
What is the end point for the race? Length of stem?
Does all the tubing for the wet stone come with it.
Yes!
Jeff where did you purchase your PH test kit and the PH up/down?
It's from Root Farm and purchased it at Canadian Tire in their garden section.
What do you use to treat for pests ?
I've been trying some new called PureCrop 1. We can not get systemic granules here in Canada
🤭
