Thoughts and settings on the Hisense 75U8H.
I want to thank the reviewer for their time and effort in creating the reviews for this model series.
So I’ve been living with my Hisense 75U8H for about a month now, and I wanted to share my thoughts and settings for those that may find it useful in some way.
I’m not a gamer so there won’t be anything related to that. I’m fortunate to have a light controlled environment and these settings are mainly based on that, with most viewing done at night and with the ambient light kit also recommended by another reviewer.
The quality is everything that has been said about this model series, including the black levels truly approaching oled territory, with virtually no noticeable blooming. I was concerned at first with the flesh tones, as no matter the source or material, it exhibited an awful pinkish/magenta-ish/sunburned hue, and the greens seemed to narrow themselves down to one dark green color for everything. Played with every setting to no avail. So I reset back to ground zero and pulled out my ancient AVSHD disc and carefully proceeded. So after putting a bunch of hours on the set( yes, they do break-in), and tweaking everything for the different sources and inputs, the color finally started to settle in. The flesh tones are now 90 to 95 percent accurate, yellows and golds and browns look like they’re supposed to without any tint leaning in one direction or another, and the greens now have the variation you would expect to see in a mixed scene of trees and grass, etc.
The following are the settings based on a wide variety of material on all the sources, and in setting the backlight, contrast and local dimming so it doesn’t melt my retinas, but still has a good level of ”kick” and dynamic range. Of particular note is my go-to reference disc of The Fifth Element (the good pressing), because it has such a wide variety of colors and levels of saturation, which makes it challenging to reproduce accurately. Filmmaker Mode was the starting point where applicable for SDR. HDR is kind of all over the place in terms of settings, for me at least. When HDR is flagged, the three default choices that you’re given work for some things but not all, so I’ve had to tweak things based on the particular content being viewed. Again, personal taste and the room it’s being viewed in.
Also, since the Dolby Vision issue has not been fixed at this point, I used the “Custom” mode to tweak that in.
The bottom line is, I feel these are all good starting points before a “real” calibration, but each person has their own taste and preferences, so of course, feel free to tweak-away!
    Cheers!

Had one of the first Hisense TVs sold here, a 55H8C 4k HDR set. It was super cheap and had excellent black levels considering it only had 12 local dimming zones. It had a weird color balance but I got it close enough and was happy for the price.
It died 3 years in but they honored the 4 year warranty and sent me a newer 55H8F to replace it. Better color and brighter but has a lot of blooming.
Replaced it with a TCL 65 825 mini led set and a way better set but it is a top end set retailing for 2k.
Looks like Hisense has upped their game quite a bit and they are offering a better warranty again.
Solid review and great team work 👍

I replaced my good ol 11 year old 50” LG Plasma with the 55” version of this and couldn’t be happier. I was turned onto Hisense 4 years ago when I was looking for a big screen for the basement and wound up with the 65” H8F. After getting the U8H for my living room I will most likely be replacing the 65” with the upcoming U8K 75”. I’ve always been an LG and Sony guy but as far as value/ quality goes Hisense is winning me over big time.

AWESOME REVIEW!!!THANK YOU!! Not a Hisense fanboy. Never actually bought Hisense tv before untill this time I did buy 55inch U8H for $649. I was intially gonna buy Samsung QN90B which is still $1400+ for a 55inch but I thought to give Hisense a chance and honestly it was worth it. It replaced my Samsung KS8000 which is huge upgrade. Yes this u8h has issues just like any other brand does there is literally no perfect TV including OLEDs and one thing that never makes sense to me personally is many people comparing this tv to Samsung High End models like QN90b or LG OLEDs(Nothing against those brands I do own LG, Samsung, and sony currently and now Hisense as well) and those cost more than double. If we were to compare this tv with tvs that are in the similar price range it will smoke them and even many tvs that cost double. Look at the score Rtings gave to this tv and you'll be surprised.

Thank you so much for this review. It has saved me a ton of money and embarrassment. I have a 55" Hisense U8G mounted in my bedroom. Since they finally fixed the eARC with the latest firmware update this summer, I have no complaints about the TV or the brand.
In my living room, the mounted 12 year old 55" LG I had was starting to develop a bad case of lip sync problems. I hadn't used the 3D capability in years, so it was time for a change at the end of last month. When Samsung dropped the price of the 65" QN90A to something reasonable, I pulled the trigger. I had 60 days to return or exchange, which is now down to 30 days. In the back of my mind, I was planning to possibly exchange and get this TV, as I know now that a 75" would fit in the existing location.
This video changed my mind. Not only are the mounting holes not compatible with my existing in-brick mount, but it's clear that many fully articulating mounts will cover right over the subwoofer. This does not seem to me to be a mount-friendly TV, and I will keep the Samsung.

I got my 55" U8H last week. On one of the feet they hadn't countersunk the screw holes so the screws weren't long enough to catch on the TV body, but I was mounting it on the wall so no big deal. I contacted Customer Service about getting a new foot in case I want to sell the TV down the road.
What I've been finding out is that it's a real can of worms figuring out what the controls do because picking one item can change the state of other items or make them unchangeable. I've watched a lot of videos and read reviews showing recommended settings but while they've been enlightening I usually don't like the results, for example their pick for Color Temperature, LOW. I've been color correcting tv images before I'd ever heard of color temperature. I was 15 when my folks bought the family's first color TV and before I knew it I was behind the TV accessing Service controls and even adjusting the yoke. I got yelled at constantly but when people came over to visit they'd comment on how good the TV picture was. I got into photography and spent countless hours in a color darkroom and all the other students were coming to me asking for advice on getting better color prints. There's more decades to the story but let's just say I have a good eye for color and image quality and EVERY color tv I've seen get's the color balance control wrong. I think they usually need more red in the equation. Oh, and my pick for color balance is Mid-Low to get you in the ball park. Low has too much yellow. All you have to do is look at anything white in the image to see the problem.
Also, I'm not going to use FilmMaker Mode as it makes changes in other menu items that I don't like.
I've seen very little mention of Imax Enhanced Mode on any of the reviews.

The problem with this TV is in low res content. A lot of posterization and color banding. And it still has not been fixed. They fixed the halving of the gaming resolution but have done nothing for the rest. I think this is because Hisense makes their own processors in house and they made this one under powered. Their noise reduction don't do anything, I mean, nothing at all for any content.

This Hisense U8H has received an excellent review on the Rtings website, as well as an Editor's Choice award from the "Stop the FOMO" TH-cam Channel [a TV industry review site] for Best MiniLED TV and Best 65" TV for $1000 in 2022. Perhaps its only weakness is just-average gradient handling, which means it may show some banding/posterization, and its image processing isn't as refined as the most expensive TVs like Sony. But because of its good performance in almost every other measure of image quality and its impressive brightness at a reasonable price, the U8H could be the one LCD TV that might convince me to buy, rather than invest in an OLED model.

I purchased the Samsung - 75” Class QN85B Neo QLED 4K Smart Tizen TV from Best Buy and they installed it five weeks ago. I love it, it is hooked up to a Sony Dolby Atmos reciever with 7.1 Klipsch reference theater speakers hooked up to reciever. Sony UHD 4K dvd player and I have upgraded about 40 of my DVD's to 4K UHD. So far I have watched The Empire Stikes Back, Jaws, T2 Judgement Day, Speed, and streamed Top Gun Maverick in 4K. Empire and Jaws have never looked better viewing at home. Top Gun Maverick was phenomenal in look and sound streaming and I have been told it will be even better once the 4K bluray is released in November. We don't get any rainbow reflection like we did with the Samsung we were using before, which we just moved into our master bedroom. SDR for sports and general viewing has been great as well although it did take a couple weeks for us to get the picture where we liked it. For all movies we have it set on Filmaker Mode. Don't like the remote but we use the universal remote provided by our cable company to control everything but 4K dvd player.
When I purchased the Samsung it was on sale for $2399. It went on sale for $2199. two weeks after it was delivered and installed and Best Buy did price match it for us and it still on sale for $2199. as of today.

If you're in the market for an led TV, this is the best TV across all brands. I've watched tons of reviews. The only other TV left to see is the vizo mqx. No real reviews on TH-cam yet. For the price and performance the hisense u8h is a no brainer. Now as far as blooming make sure local dimming is set to high. It should rival oled with black levels and blooming should be almost non existing. Gamers, well it's more of a casual gamer TV. There is no perfect TV so gaming took a hit in order to make other parts of the TV better. Just make sure the hdmi port is in "enhanced" mode. Dobly vision is trash on this TV. But honestly Dobly vision is inconsistent across all manufacturers. I would just run games without it. You will have less posterization. I would also disable it with streaming content. The s95b doesn't even support Dobly vision and that has the best picture quality out of any TV.

While older generations hate the "soap opera effect", you'd be surprised of newer generations who miss it when turned off since theyve been conditioned to it.

That’s my only gripe about spending even $1000 on a tv these days. The value of any TV in that price range or more really stinks if it can’t last at least 5-7 yrs. I’m due to upgrade my 10-yr old Samsung tv and am nervous about longevity. My current 10-yr old tv was more of a mid-range model at the time and didn’t have the best specs in the world, but it still looks nearly the same as when I bought it

So my 2020 Hisense H9G 65" bluetooth is not working and I get the Wi-Fi drop out and Best Buy has been out twice and changed the main and wi-fi board and it's still not resolved which as a retired IT tech, this suprises me. I thought for sure the BT module was on the Wi-Fi card. Standard remote IR mode works so If I did't have the warranty I'd just put up with the bluetooth not working but since I have the waranty I want it to work as intended. So the Best Buy tech said he'd do some further research and talk with other techs but it's looking like he's going to junk out the TV as a lemon so I will get the credit of $950 + tax and will be buying the U8H because the H9G's picture has blown me away and with higher peak brightness on the U8H along with mini led's I suspect it's a touch better. I do watch some older movies that are only availble on DVD. Does anyone know if they will look worse on a 75" vs 65" U8H with upscaling which I know Hisense is not well known for to begin with.

      @marcse7en 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Ieatatpinks My brother-in-law's plasma refused to die! He ended up giving it away! The problem with plasma, and the reason I stopped using it, is power consumption! The 42" 1080p HD plasma uses a whopping 300 watts, and the 50" 4K UHD ULED LCD, uses around 60 watts (SD SDR), and around 140 watts (4K HDR). Additionally, the plasma suffers weird "colour trails" when you move your eyes rapidly. This is a well known plasma characteristic, and you must have seen it?
