- We came across Agrons Spektrum MK7 Spektrum Golf R with a 2.5T RS3 Engine swap and thought he deserved a video! he swapped almost everything from an RS3 onto his Golf R and this thing is sick! We let him tell us how he did it!

That is incredible! It’s cool to see a shop do this, but even better to see an average guy do this. And that engine is so awesome sounding when under load.

I don’t know him personally, but a guy who works 6 day a week and does this on his day off, is quite special. So I’ll agree with you there.
Dont think by any means that is an average guy. Average guy cannot change a flat tire by himself.

The RS3 DAZA engine is pure 🔥. So sick inside the VW platform. I've got a Mk7 GTI, and don't get me wrong I freaking love my car, but the 4 cylinder just doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the 5 pot DAZA. Sick build my man 🔥

Holy shit... That has to be one of the most badass swaps on a Golf R I've ever seen. Even more incredible that the guy did it in a cramped, basic homeowner's garage, not some specialty auto/car builders garage.
Very well done... Everything fits and looks like it belongs or was there from the very beginning. What I like most about what he did, was that from the onset, he was determined that everything would work properly. Some of these swaps, the guys that did it will tell you that this or that doesn't work like it should, or there's error lights on the dash all the time because some of the connections aren't what they should be. On this swap, everything 100% works, no dash lights, no non-functioning options, etc...
The only downside to the swap is that it's not a manual TM, but I get it. The donor RS3 is an auto, and the Audi autos are damn fantastic transmissions. Besides, other than a custom rebuilt manual trans, I doubt you'd be able to find a stock VW 6spd manual that would handle this kind of hp.

"Everything fits and looks like it belongs or was there from the very beginning." - That's because A3 and Golf share the same platform and swapping I5 into Golf is just dropping it in. Engine from Golf R is also used in Audi S3. There is dozen of these swaps in Europe.
Some 5-7 years ago there was a prototype Mk7 Golf R with I5 testing at the Ring, but Dieselgate happened and they binned that project.
And there was never manual RS3, but for some reason VW sells manual Golf R's in USA where 80% of people don't know how to drive a manual, but in Europe where people would kill for manual Golf R they don't sell it. BMW did the same with E60 and F10 M5
Everything about this is amazing. The story of the bulld, challenges overcome through desication, the power, the sound, all of it. The icing on the cake is that he got a spektrum golf R to do this with. Truly a one-of-a-kind build

There is nothing more exciting than doing 100% of the work in house, i did a VW Golf MK3 GTI 8V to 2.8L 24V V6 from a VW Sharan and even though im a car mechanic i had 0 experience on many things like wiring etc.
Ended up learning and doing every single thing on my own.

This is what the R should have been from the start. Keep the GTI, GTI and the R, special.
Sadly not even the Tiguan and Arteon got this engine. Only the Cupra Formentor and obviously the RS3, seriously VW it's taking the piss even on Europeans.

The best looking Golf R, the 7 and 7.5. Spektrum colors are beautiful. Wish they would come out with this program with the Golf R 8. These spektrum colors are fetching big money, saw one on Bring-a-Trailer, Irish Green for 60k.

Cool build. My opinion and info for others. A business not giving out freely something they paid for is not "shops gatekeeping information". VW literally sells access to their service info to anyone for 35 bucks a day and you can download all the diagrams you want. Seems like it would of been a huge time saver for next to nothing cost wise relative to the cost of the build.
I didn’t know VW sold iwire access to outside end users. Thanks for the heads up I’d have to check that out! Also my ideal for gate keeping is no one is willing to work with you, nor give out any pointers,etc. 2.7t, VR swaps and information are more readily available
Too bad he didn't film during the build. Would love to have a tutorial on how to do this myself.

This is essentially what I want to do to my 2012 CC for a swap one day. I know there will be quite a few roadblocks and thing that will need to be modified but to make it work and hopefully my car being a manual transmission won't cause to many problems because its important for me to retain that.
Normal engine swap in Germany, there are multiple specified shops for this with TÜV etc

Today i did the same thing he did. I took a vr6 3.6, dq250, ecu, dash, shifter and all the electrical harnesses for my mk3 mr2😊
The RS3 engine is such a big step up from the Golf R four-cylinder, if only for the sound.
I can only imagine the nose heaviness on this thing, they built the RS3 with that in mind, this must understeer in corners when driving hard like crazy

@@atak258 If it was possible, I would take the entire drivetrain including the AWD system. If the AWD system was not possible, then I would consult a racing team and see what I could do to beef up the CC front axel to handle the power and torque. I know it won’t be ideal and spin like crazy, but I would be willing to take that chance. I probably drop down to a 16 or 17 inch rim to fit a R888R tire or something similar.
