    BTW under Preferences: Keymap - 3D View - check : 'Extra Shading Pie Menu Items', you'll get the Xray mode and toggle Overlays added to the menu with 'Z'

      Just seems quicker to use shift+alt+z and alt+z

    Great tips. Thank you!
    UPD: "Shift+R" does not work for voxel size in newer versions of Blender. Now it's just "R" key instead of "Shift+R"
    UPD2: local view could be also chosen by pressing "/" on the main keyboard. (The same key, where the question mark located)

    Also shift+z for wireframe. I also like to use the pie on drag option(F4->preferences->keymap) which makes 3 change. Tilde become fly/walk mode. Hold tilde down and drag mouse gives view pie (gizmo pie if you changed it in keymap). Tab toggles edit mode. Hold tab and drag mouse gives mode pie. Z toggles wireframe. Hold z and drag get shading pie. I also like to use alt click tool prompt. Just press the alt key then press G for move tool, R rotate tool, S for scale tool, T for transform tool, Ctrl+b for bevel tool, e for extrude tool, or I for inset tool. Work great for people who like gizmos. Then W to go back to select or tap alt then b if you are using right click select.

    Oh forgot to mention thanks for the video I didn't know about Ctrl+r in sculpt mode. You already mentioned the shift+r in other videos. I love your work.

    your videos are always my first stop when looking for something new. A great insightful video as always :). It would be great if you could come up with a video regarding cameras , using multiple cameras in particular. The clarity of your thought and the logical way of application is what sets your tutorials miles ahead of the rest.

    Thanks so much for the great information Grant. I'll be adding this video to my playlist and referring to it often.

    Always new shortcuts to discover, and interesting ways to combine them. Let's say for example you already have your 3D cursor set somewhere specific that you don't want to change for whatever reason, but you do want to get the origin of an object to the center of a face on your mesh.
    One way to do it is to go into object mode,
    select your object,
    we're going to be snapping so hit / to isolate it and keep other objects out of the way,
    z to change it to wireframe,
    press ctrl+period to manipulate the origin.
    I find the snapping shortcut to be pretty awkward, but it's ctrl+shift+tab; pick vertex.
    G to grab your object origin, hold ctrl and hover over one of the vertices and press a.
    Repeat pressing a over each vertex on the face, then let go of ctrl. Hold ctrl once again and click to set your origin right between the highlighted points. You probably won't need to briefly let go of ctrl, I just do it out of habit to make sure things snap right between the highlights.
    Press ctrl+period again to stop manipulating the origin,
    press / to get out of isolation and you're done.
    Seems like a lot of effort and complication when you read it, but the whole thing really only takes a few seconds if you have your shortcuts down and you're comfortable with navigating around.

    I find shift+spacebar to be super helpful in sculpting. Brings up a list with all the names, and when using a tablet, you don't have to move your arm as much, as it appears at the cursor's location.

    Shift + Tab will turn off and on snapping
    Ctrl + Shift + Tab will open snapping menu
    Ctrl + Shift + Alt + Z will change the display as to bound to wire and so on, which you see in object tab in properties panel

  • @dillenbata
    @dillenbata 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The real power of the pie menus is if you hold the key down and only have to drag mouse cursor until option is highlighted (the circled area) then let key go. This way you don't have to click the option.

    • @derekdjay
      @derekdjay 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Or you can press the key while quickly moving the mouse in that direction for a ninja-style mouse-flick. Or you can press the corresponding numpad number, useful when the mouse cursor is close to the screen edge and mouse movement doesn't work right

    • @dillenbata
      @dillenbata 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@derekdjay If you really want to go ninja. F4->Preferences->interface->menus->pie menus->set a distance for confirm threshold. it will drop you out of the pie menu when you reach that distance in the direction of your choice. You can also reduce the radius of the selection circle(Threshold setting) and the overall radius of the pie menu(Radius setting). I have view pie menu set to the D key set to Click Drag for even faster work, because I rarely have to move my left hand from typing position.

  • @jacques-dev

    Is there a pie menu for the snapping drop down? Ex. to jump between increment, vertex, edge, face snapping?

    If somebody is wondering why the Alt + Q dosnt works... it works from Blender 3.0... and if you download the Blender and it dosnt works... it is because you are still uisng the previous one, it looks when you install a new blender it dosnt overwrite the previous one but creates a new entry or folder with the new one, so if you are using a shortcut from the windows tool bar it will open your older version of blender (at least for me was like this)... the direct acess from the desktop should take you to the new one
