Ms. Trena my dear. My name is Tim Forbes in Savannah, Ga. I sorta fell into the furniture business when I was 14, now 72. I still work a 40+ hours repair/restoring casegoods and upholstery. Your eye for quality is so refreshing to me. Your skilled thinking and application of your work is so evident. You demonstrate care of the outside visual appearance as well as the unseen that folks may never see. Very much me. I care about those steps/foundation equally as the outward appearance. NO SHORT CUTS! I want to extend to you the greatest compliment for your craftsmanship/ craftswomanship that I can express to you. You are, to me, watching your videos is like watching Bob Ross create one of his paintings on tv. Thanks, Oh, Peace, Luv and Rock and Roll, always.
@timforbes3524 what a lovely comment, like you I am an old time restorer here in the UK and always enjoy Trena's videos, stay lucky, and yea, Rock n Roll always
When one professional compliments another on the integrity of their work, I must (as one who appreciates artisanship and craftsmanship) applaud both of you. Pride in your workmanship is the highest degree of work ethic. I salute you both! 💜
All great compliments and I whole heartily agree 100%! Trena is a treasure! She treats every piece with great care and consideration! Thank you for voicing your wonderful comments for This wonderful craft woman! (And any others who are so kind to share genuine, well deserved compliments!) Way too much negativity these days! Bravo!….@timforbes3524, @paulmaryon9088, @timhey0912, and @geralyn-mm.
The main thing I don't like about watching you repair furniture. It makes me realize what a horrible job I've done repairing every piece of furniture I've ever fixed in the last 40 years, lol. Another amazing job. Thanks for taking us along 👍.
I'm always impressed by your "no fear" attack in taking furniture apart, and that's the part that makes me too afraid to try this myself :) You are so talented! The colour tints and accents is masterful.
Watching you restore these chairs is a testament to your skills. It is also a testament to the quality knowledge passed from your parents to you. It seems clear the last person to attempt repair of these chairs was inept at best. The thinking was in the right direction. But the repairs were anything but correct.
Hello Trena! It's always a pleasure to watch you. I watch a lot of woodworking videos, but no one can keep up. You are very professional and you show your many years of experience and everything you have learned from your father. Under your hands, the different things you make are brought back to life and fit into any home. Thank you for this great video, I'm already looking forward to the next one. All the best Maria
I absolutely love these videos where you teach as you do the repairs!! I could watch this all day!! Thank you so much for the details you showed and explained. These chairs turned out just spectacular!! Your attention to detail for these older pieces is incredible and how you restore their function and beauty is so inspiring. True restoration, and preservation. Thanks again! ❤️❤️🎉🎉🎉
The chairs turned really beautiful. Way better than what I could have imagined. It is lovely to see you working in the shop with your dad in the background. You have such a warm personality in the videos. I can only imagine the joy your dad feels to have you working along side him and you him. Congrats on the long move and getting busy again!
Poor chairs were truly in need of some TLC. Luckily that’s something you do super well. I bet that dining set looks beautiful in situ. However, is it weird to hate chairs? Not the restoration of them - that’s superb, but dining chairs across the board? I have terrible trouble choosing dining sets!😱
Great video. I admire your patience and craftsmanship. And thank you for not showing us every minute of the repairs. You are a craftsperson in editing also.
As an amateur woodworker in the US, I was introduced to Robertson screws when using Kreg pocket hole jigs. These screws are superb because when using power drivers, they don't torque out like Phillips and slotted screws do. What most handymen in the US don't realize is that newer electrical outlets and switches sold in both Canada and the US allow the choice of at least 3 different types of screwdrivers to attach wires- slotted, #2 Phillips or #1 Robertson. The Robertson is superior!
yes I also was first introduced to square drive (Robertson) screws via the Kreg pocket hole system. Here is the US a lot of screws now come with Torx heads now adays and so I now only use them for all woodworking projects. Never going back to slotted or Phillips, they are just the worst. The europeans now put a lot of "reverse torx" bolts in automobiles. Amazing that Canadians have had much better screws in common use for more than 100 years.
Trena, I started out watching and how is what I was for. You did a fabulous job on the pair of badly treated beauties. Very nice work and I'll take back all my stones now. Very, very nice resto work. It will not bring the same money as a pair that was taken care by the owners. Very nice!!!
Of all the many skills you possess, your knowledge and skill with stain/color/finish is masterful. I’ve futzed around with stains and coloring enough to know how difficult what you make look easy is. I feel this skill is not something that can be directly taught, rather it is acquired through years of experience. Thanks for the knowledge.
Thank you, Trena, for another fascinating restoration. I always find both your woodworking and presentation skills to be remarkable. However, I think that what very often doesn’t get commented on is your excellent choice of music. Really loved it in this video. Greetings from Yorkshire, UK.
Sister, Golden hair, beautiful work as always it is so funny and fun to work on some of these chair projects with 1 million nails and screws and see the end results. Sometimes the owners can’t believe it’s the same chair. Thanks for sharing.
Such abeautiful job! I love love love how the color turned out on this table and chairs, in my all time favorite wood - oak! To me OAK feels solid - like something that is forever - just like magestic old oak trees that have withstood many years. Yes, most of my furniture is oak.
Hi, Trena. You're amazing, your channel is amazing, and your work is amazing! I just discovered your channel a few days ago, and I have watched about 20 of your videos this weekend. I am a college professor from Ohio who just picked up furniture restoration as a hobby this year. I have been watching and learning from several other great channels, but I have learned more from your channel in the past three days than all the other channels combined! I plan to watch a lot more as I work on the midcentury pieces my wife and I have collected in our basement. Good luck with the new shop. I can't wait to see what you fix next!
Sometimes, with the classical music and the very intentional and precise movements give me serial killer vibes. Edit: you even laughed when something snapped! Trena I see you
Totally love & appreciate the care & attention you show each & every piece you restore…….amazing work. I’d love to spend some time with you in the shop while you do this work. Not because I want to be your competition but because of your artistry.❤❤❤
Hi Trena! Gorgeous job, as always. I watch several repair channels and find it difficult now, to watch any other channels. Only Thomas Johnson and Scott from "Wooden it be Nice" have the same work ethic and aesthetic you have. You are all great teachers. You are quicker, smart and practical. Women rule!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Love your channel.
A craftsman at work is such a joy😊. So enjoy your videos thank you so much for all the work, both on the furniture you bring back to life but all the work it takes to make these videos 😊and put them out here for all to enjoy
Beautiful, as always. I know there are various ways of doing things. When that chair seat broke, I think my late hubby's method of fixing that would have been to let it come all the way apart, and then glue it back together using biscuits. 🙂 When you were first showing the chairs, the first thing I noticed was that horrid corrugated fastener being used to hold that split together. My brain screamed, "NO!"
Another amazing job. I can't really say I am surprised any more when make the furniture look better than new, but I am fascinated by the way you do it. I have to admit that I have a soft spot in my heart for the green leather, but the customers choice of silver leather plus the increased number of tack really brought these chairs to a whole new level. Absolutely beautiful!
It’s really wonderful to see a master at work. You’re one of the most hardest working woodworkers and restores that I’ve seen on TH-cam. It’s wonderful to see such a high level of skill and the kindness youYou’ve shown when you share all your tips and tricks. Thank you so much for everything you do for you fans, keep up the great work!
I couldn’t agree more with the wonderful comments from others on here. It’s always a joy to watch you work on these old gems. Always look forward to your next project Trena.
This is a beautiful dining set. I can just see it tucked into a little breakfast nook. The new vinyl is so much better than the old, almost neon green.
As Tim says below, you are extremely good at your craft. I enjoy watching you save restoring items to nearly thier original condition. Great job, Ed from Lancaster (formerly from Simsbury)...

WOW.......that large plug repair with the slots to let the excess glue out is brilliant.
Great Job by Mom on the upholstery ! ! ! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks again!
Trena, Utube changed your name to "Turner" in my feed. Luckily I found you anyway. Spectacular work as always!
Ugh. Not the first time
Only 40 seconds in and I see a chair with a lot of history in it. A lot of stories to tell.
Brilliant!! Better than new.
Wow! Now they are gorgeous!

The chairs look so relieved! Beautiful restoration. It's great to see them restored for next generations.

Your work is ....ART!
Beautiful job ,
I really enjoy watching you restore beautiful art.
Chairs are beautiful. I love oak done in a darker shade. Reminds me of the various old oaken pieces that my family members had. Thanks for sharing.
What a transformation! No doubt a mess when they came in and now they're beautiful.
You did a fantastic job on those chairs Trena! 👍🏻 Thank you for sharing some of your techniques! 👌Enjoy and stay warm! 😊
Thank you! You too!
I love your work as well as how much you love doing the work. It really comes across.
Amazing difference! Gorgeous work.

That wood really sucked up the stain. I recognized the shading from the last video. It goes without saying those chairs look great.
A brand new life for this set, probably the best it’s ever been, gorgeous!
The skill/patience you have to give these chairs a new life is amazing. Your work is inspiring!
