What did we do to deserve this! You all are so awesome!
yes, what did we do???
We’re not worthy! 🙏🏻
This wonderful chair was made by Heywood Brothers & Company, Gardner, Mass. The patent date is Jan. 7, 1873. This information was on a brass oval that connected the arms to the seat base. Yours were replaced by carriage bolts at some point in the chair’s history. Great chair, great restoration! Robert
Oh wow Thankyou!
This was awesome! You have the patience of a Saint! Love it
I have seen three so far I've liked them all but yours by far is the most time-consuming detailed work of the three I've seen I'm going to watch the other two and see which one if any I like better than yours. I actually watched the three that I watch on this charity all the time I don't know about the other two that I can't recognize their names. But you know babe it's something I watch occasionally and I will let you know if I like there's better but like I said so far yours is like the best
I am blown away. This restoration was... indescribable! What this chair has seen in its lifetime; tired, worn, and broken, and now it's saying "Thank you for making me pretty again." You are such a stellar, meticulous craftsman.
It was quite a challenge; I'm so glad you could "enjoy the process". 😉
Love your home and your view. What a peaceful comfy setting.
Wow, thank you!
Wow, that caning looks difficult. That restoration took a lot of different skills. Nice work Trena!
Thanks so much
I never realized that rattan weaving was so time consuming. AWESOME job!!
I've binged all four of you guys. How on earth can I decide who is the best? You're all SO competent! Well done! You are all winners here.
I agree!
agreed all diffo styles
Just finished watching your labor of "love", so nice to see you working with your father. He must be so proud to see you dig into a difficult project and then to witness your perseverance and the beauty of the completed restoration. Your mom is a trooper too even though you had to complete the caning on your own. Your home and property are beautiful. What a view!
Yes Thankyou!
The caning alone makes this a win to me. So many different materials in one chair! Frankenchair is right!! Outstanding work!!
Thankyou!
I almost began to cry when you said the cane was the wrong size! 😮 Yikes how disheartening. I truly felt your pain as you cut and sliced through all those hours with the knife. A necessary evil in order to complete the chair, but with added sadness knowing the time you spent. A stunning example of workmanship and skill from both the original maker and yourself. From Frankin to Fantastic! I say you win!!🏆
Thanks Shannon!
OMG! You turned this Frankenchair into a beautiful swan! Amazing job, I love this piece! 🤩
Thank you! 😊
I think I understand why someone was tempted into using the leather seat 😂! Magnificent job!
Yes! Thank you!
Probably some other soul who ordered the wrong size cane and said, "Oh, heck no! I'm not doing that over again!" 😂😂
Very very skilled artisan! That weaving...wow! Your dad must be very proud of you, you have learned well. You definitely know your stuff! And you have my respect for maintaining your cool with having to start over....!
Yes, thank you
Wow! That chair looks fantastic! Talk about trash to treasure. Nice job!
Yes! Thank you!
What a stunning chair! The weaving is beautiful. Well done! 👏💕
Thank you! 😊
This restoration is amazing really hard to believe it’s the same chair! Well done 👌😁❤️🇬🇧
I didn't realise it was going to be a full hand-weave. What a superb result. Good luck in the challenge.
It's my birthday so I'm going to binge-watch the others.
I feel no guilt.
Happy birthday!
Boy you took this project to another level. That weaving. Wow. 🎉🏆
OMG Trena! That hand caning is so beautiful but I can’t believe you volunteered to re-do that!!! Poor lady! You should def win the contest!
Lol it was a bit painful
From Frankenstein to Fabulous - a true restoration, complete with epic energy and determination! 🎉
Thankyou!
my father used to do caning, he chairs I saw before and after would almost make you cry. The clients always were amazed.
You dont take shortcuts. Working every little piece of that chair and doing a fantastic job. Quality work and it ended up such a beautiful chair, back to, and maybe even better than its former glory. Well done! Over to the next contendant, i just love this, what a treat for us furniture lovers that love to see good craftsmanship and repair of beautiful furniture. You all are great at what you do. Thank you for sharing!
Thankyou!
Brilliant result with the chair , and those pink walls in your house looked great !
Thanks so much! 😊
Thanks for this great job, it's so unusual to find artisans like you mastering all different crafts. You and Thomas Johnson are for me the best restorers in TH-cam.
Thankyou. I love his channel so much
WOW... just wow... simply amazing. Thank you so much for sharing.
Our pleasure!
Gobsmacked! It's gorgeous! What an amazing job.
Your craftsmanship is top notch. Your dad must be very proud of you. Awesome job and awesome video thank you so much for sharing. That chair is so so beautiful.
Thank you very much!
Amazing work. So much talent your father has to be so proud of your work. Also I have to say that you’re the Marilyn Monroe of furniture restoration. Don’t tell your father I said that.
I did say that long before you, so her dad knows it all by now 🤷♂️🤙
Well done. It looks wonderful. I’ve never seen a bentwood chair like it. Excellent craftsmanship.
Thank you! Cheers!
Beautiful restoration! I so admire your patience! Thanks for sharing , I already follow the others so I’m looking forward to watching them as well! Hugs from Washington State!
Dang girl, you are really good. That would have scared me off from even trying to refinish. You are a very determined woman!!! Excellent!👍🥰
Thankyou
Beautiful results! Oh my goodness, what a lot of labor! But you did it! That cane is beautiful Trina. The whole chair just shines. The owner is going to be so surprised and happy. Thank you picking this one to show us. Hope this finds you and yours happy and healthy.
Thank you so much!
The look on your dogs face when started with the knife was awesome the important thing is that you can laugh at the mistake Stay safe and God Bless. That chair looks amazing
Lol she was a little confused
Wow Trena, what a beautiful job! It's just gorgeous. It was fun to visit with you in your LR, just pretty colours and what a view! Glad to have you back. Take care.
Thank you so much!
Wow! I just thought I was impressed before. Is there anything you can't do? And thank you for showing us your lovely home. I love the pink walls.
Thank you so much!
What an inspiring work ethic. Excellent restoration by a beautiful artist.
Amazing. Very good job.
What a great group of people to have a fun competition with.. Cheers,
I’ve always loved to take some old and dirty and clean it up. It’s just so satisfying to watch someone do the same with furniture, and do their very best. ❤
YAY! All my favorite resto channels!
This is a GREAT DAY!❤
🎉
Been there done that and learned a great lesson. It happened and it may happen again. Lesson learned.
Your dog watching you cut through the cane lightened the moment but ooh I felt the frustration of that moment! Beautiful finished piece Trena!
I felt the dog's anxiety, too! "MOM! NO!! What are you doing!?!?!?" 😊
Lol she was scared too.
Fantastic work. I have very much enjoyed all 4 of this series of restorations. I'm not much help if it is a competition, I gave them all a like. Thanks for posting.
Lol. I have them all likes too.
I love all of these channels! Best competition ever. You guys need to do this more often! Fabulous work!!
Thank you!
My wife and I both wanted to like . We pretty much liked everyone.
Thankyou!
Ah, that feeling when hours and hours of work magically turns into a few ounces of trash. 😭 Been there. Many times.
But your final result is just gorgeous, as always. Great work!
As always, I LOVE watching you work and your video style. I love the instructional process on this one, even the hiccup with the caning. Came out gorgeous.
I expected that you would not succeed because the chair was completely destroyed, but the result was amazing. I congratulate you from Baghdad for this beauty
Fabulous. I particularly enjoyed the weaving process. Love your work. 😍
What a beautiful job Trena! Nothing like Family for support. I'm sure you're glad to be home. Keep up the Good work and great videos.
Thanks so much
Wow….such an awesome job. The cane work process is so intriguing…..GREAT JOB❤. The chair is beautiful.
Thanks so much! 😊
Well, the frustration had to go somewhere when the caning ran acropper! Your shop dog is the calmest one I've ever seen. Glued to your side. That chair looked great at the end. I hope the owner treasures the skills that went into saving it.
❤️
Great redo. Chair looks awesome. That caining is unbelievable.
Absolutely beautiful! Didn't think it was possible to get this chair back to pristine condition....... but you sure did!!
Yes! Thank you!
Damn, is that the same chair? That caning is something else, beautifully done, what a job, or, I should say jobs!
What a huge job and a glorious result.
I love antiques!
Impressive restoration! Many, many hours of work. The chair is better than new. Thank you for your job. Greetings from Spain.
Thank you very much!
Frankenchair turned out beautiful! At first sight, I thought “mission impossible” but I should have never doubted your magic! ❤❤
Thank you! Cheers!
How beautiful. So much patience. The view from your house is absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for this video
My pleasure 😊
Trena, that was lovely. Thank you. As for the cane issue, let's just say I empathize. My last "reassement" involved a hammer. It was quite therapeutic but it did require purchasing more appropriate items.
This is how restoration is done. Amazing 👌👌👌
Thankyou
I let my dog dry out too much one time. Luckily, Ace Hardware sells some really good dog putty. You can barely see the cracks. (Gorgeous work! And your home is beautiful too.)
😂😂
What a spectacular restoration of this stunning chair. A truly beautiful piece and your attention to detail is admirable. Fabulous work and an incredible result!
Thank you! Cheers!
I am subscribed to your channel and the Transcend Furniture channel, but I will be sure to check out the other channels in your description. I am always amazed at the transformation of a piece from that seems impossible, to that looks beautiful! Another stunning restoration!
Awesome! Thank you!
Wow! Fantastic work!
That's a gorgeous job, Trena! This chair and the owners must be so happy now. it's beauty and design really shines. On another note, it's so good to see you back. Apparently, nice pink nail polish doesn't travel well with a restoration job. Nice hair cut, really suits you!!
Lol it’s all wore off
@@johnsfurniturerepair Never see nail polish or an amazing manicure on anyone who works with their hands in a serious way. BTW, I think you won the competition, although I voted for everyone. I would have liked to see all of you finish the gold chair. Unfortunately, I guess you never see a Russian palace chair.
Wow! The amount of work that you put into the cane patterning is outstanding. You have the patience of a saint. Gorgeous result.
Thank you very much!
Awesome restoration Trena, your patience knows no bounds in doing that caning. Makes my little dining chair restoration look like a walk in the park. Also a great bunch of restorers you are competing with some of my favourite channels.
Thanks 👍
I have watched your competions videos and I have to say this is by far my favourite project. The weave and design of the chair give your project an edge over the others.
Thankyou!
It’s so wonderful to see generations working together on crafts.
Hey Trena, at around 10:09 you are really working hard to get that screw out of chair, remember that the shaft of your screw driver is a square so you can fit a wrench onto it. The extra leverage helps a lot with those stubborn screws.
Amazing job. It's beautiful.
Thankyou
I can’t make up my mind between the four of you!!!!
WOW Trena! That was AMAZING. Always learn something new from you. In this case, LOTS of "something"s. I've only done simple caning of cabinet doors where the caning was pre-weaved. Fascinating process. I've had my own "oops" moments over the years - all you can do is do it over. Thankfully, yours was non-destructive (except for your time). Only thing missing was a simple before and after side by side picture. Turns "wow" into "OMG", and this one deserves that drama. Thank you for sharing this one. "Whoever gets the most views wins." LOL That doesn't work, as we can't see the competition without giving them a view. You are ALL winners, doing decidely different projects with superb results. 4 way tie I'd say.
Yea I agree. Just glad to share all my favorite channels with you all. Cheers!
That's a fantastic job and what a gorgeous chair! I really enjoyed watching. 🧡
Thank you so much!
Hi Trena! Your sounding a lot more comfortable on camera. Keep on going!👍
So proud of you! Major disassembly, but no chips to your excellent color nail polish! You make women crafters of all sorts Proud! ❤
But in my mind’s eye, I see you in the long progression of craftspersons who have put caring hands on the components of this very old chair. What a fine way to think of history! Excellent work!
So true! Thankyou!
What a great Saturday treat! My 3 faves, Trena, Angie and AT. I'm glad there's no voting involved. I'd be at a loss. Incredible job on a very complex chair.
Don't forget to like her video
Amazing. What fortitude you have. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a beautiful result. I cringed when you ripped out the cane that was the wrong size. Kudos to you for carrying on like a trooper and sharing the mishap with all of us. It would have been easy for you to skip that, and we would never have known. You are a good soul, Trena.
Thankyou!
I'm in love with a chair ! That looked truly awesome at the end. I would so like to have that in my own home office. Great skills, as usual. Thanks for posting the video.
Glad you liked it!

Wonderful. I can't give thumbs up just for one!. Each one had different issues to overcome and everyone had surpassed every expectantion!. Congratulations for all of you!.
Thank you so much!
What an awesome restoration!! I love learning from you and that mostly comes from your wonderful sencse of humor. Most people I know would have thrown the wrong weave across the room and you did the coolest. You laughed! I admire the enormous attention to detail you show in your light hearted way. Thank you
Thank you very much!
Lovely restoration!! Beautiful chair!
Thank you! Cheers!
The cane work was just amazing to watch! Lovely work on every aspect of this.

Somewhere along the line you swappered the chairs.
The result is amazing 😅
Thankyou!
You weave too?! What can’t you do?! Amazing restoration ❤❤!
What a skill and workmanship. It is an art. Brava. :}}
