    While I own a Dodge 3500 dually for towing, had I bought just a 1/2 ton between all of the available trucks the Tundra would easily be my first choice.

    Take both trucks to 300,000 miles and come back to tell us which is still going. My guess would be the Tundra.

      My 05 silverado 5.3l vortex has 386,000 miles on it and no problems at all, it's not the most powerful truck but it does the job.

    TRD FTW. Toyota Truck are extremely capable once they are outfitted with the right parts like the TRD parts. Also the 5.7 liter tundra is a very fast truck.. and thats before you add the TRD blower to the 5.7 then output jumps to 550hp.
    I want to see a TRD PRO Tundra with the TRD supercharger.

    I watched the entire video but from the start I knew the Yota was the clear winner. always has and always will be. yeah sure the raptor this the raptor that but at the end of the day it's still an unreliable Ford. and why wouldn't you want to build your own prerunner instead of buying one? that's the best part about a project Truck

  • @andyham6094

    Thank you for actually using real people and experienced off road drivers as a big factor. The points system and calculations going head to head is cool to know BUT a lot of a truck and especially off road is how it feels when you are driving it and seeing those judges loved the Tundra TRD Pro was great to see. I’ve driven a 2017 TRD Pro tundra and it was so an amazing feeling and looking truck on and off road. I have no purpose for a full size truck so I opted for the TRD Pro 4runner which I absolutely love. But you can’t go wrong with any of the trd pros whether it’s the 4Runner TRD Pro, Tacoma TRD Pro, or Tundra TRD Pro. Love how the TRD Pro lineups look and feel.

    Something about Chrysler using a 8-speed and adjustable suspension is very disconcerting. Their products were always the least reliable and biggest pieces of junk with drum brakes and a manual let alone anything advanced. Toyota on the other hand has a reputation for quality and reliability, their 4x4s are near bulletproof.

      It takes 6 months to build a Rolls Royce and 13 hours to build a toyota... i love both trucks. but this is Rams 1st Gen REBEL. This is Toyota's product of many years of fine tuning(Tundra). The REBEL does almost as good and this is their first product for that exact truck.

    By the way, about me returning, my first planned vehicle is gonna be this: The Toyota Tundra.

  • @KevinSmith-qi5yn
    @KevinSmith-qi5yn 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I think these are very comparable vehicles in every sense. Judges opinions or not, this one is purely a preference call on what badge you want. I think most people wanted the Rebel to be a Ram Runner outfitted from the factory and compete against the Raptor.
    Over all, I think more people will opt for the Tacoma over the Tundra. It fits that segment mold better. If they are not a Toyota fan and want that vehicle to go camping with, then they will probably pick the Rebel over other models if they have the money. It comes back to being good at the task at hand, or being a vehicle you can live with since its $50k. The Rebel is definitely better daily driver with a more comfortable suspension, usable storage solutions, better fuel economy, and better in cab entertainment.

      Dodge Challenger ram/didge/Jeep etc..face in general are always near the bottom in reliability. They are def not known for reliability. Obviously not every vehicle but on average compared to toyota it’s not even a competition. Toyota might have outdated tech and infotainment and outdated motors even though they last forever, but if I’m dropping that much on a truck or spending money on any vehicle, Toyota has two important things going for them, reliability and value. Toyota is legendary for their reliability and how they retain their value. I’ll take that over fancy modern interior and infotainment that you will enjoy for a while but what’s the point if none of it is gonna be used if the truck don’t work or spending tons of money in the shop.

    This is why you get what you pay for, I know everyone watching this has heard it. There is a reason that Dodge Ram was able to do " half off" ram trucks... There is a reason... They are not built even close to the same quality standards that Toyota has. Toyota Tundra 100% USA built, produced in San Antonio Texas. I like my American Truck!

    Interesting. If im not mistaken, the Ram uses coil or (airbag?) rear suspension while the Tundra uses the leafs. You'd think the leaf springs would give a bit less articulation but I'm guessing thats where the open rear C channel comes into play allowing it to flex some more. I want to see RTI numbers.

    • @KevinSmith-qi5yn
      @KevinSmith-qi5yn 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +CACressida Yes, the Toyota's frame will twist more. Most Domestic pickup trucks pride themselves on frame stiffness.

    • @AkioWasRight
      @AkioWasRight 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +CACressida I think the frame had little do with it. You can have leafs springs and still design them to have more movement than you're average coil setup.

    • @AkioWasRight
      @AkioWasRight 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kevin Smith Except when it comes to there medium duty trucks. Suddenly stiffer boxed frames aren't so important.

  • @repairvehicle
    @repairvehicle 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tundra is the best half ton truck out there. It's the most reliable, dependable, powerful and has least problems and recalls of any trucks. When you add time and gas spent on driving to the repair shop to fix a recall or repair something under warranty, then tundra becomes number one choice. Also, holds its value better than any truck.

    Awesome, Toyota Tundras are my joints! They last longer than expected, but that's if you take good care of it. About Dodge Rams, those aren't my joints at all, but Toyota Tundras are, cuz if you drive a Dodge Ram on the dirt, dirt road, or on a sand dune, you can drive a Dodge Ram on those as fast as 5-10mph. For Toyota Tundras, you can drive those on the dirt as fast as 50mph. I have more joints on Toyota Tundras than Dodge Rams.

    Toyota has tweaked the Tundra yet again for 2016, making it an even better and quieter ride. They've even apparently improved the traction control system. The fuel economy of the big 5.7L V8 hasn't changed, but it's still one darn sweet truck - and I don't mind paying a bit more at the pump for that.
    Yes, I now own a 2016 Tundra Limited 4x4 CrewMax (Sunset Bronze, Sand Beige leather interior, Entune Premium audio, moonroof, running boards, dealer-installed BFG TA KO2 tires, front winch, tonneau cover, etc). I've lived in this house for some time, owning a number of vehicles. When I got that Tundra home, I accidentally did a short burnout on the front uphill driveway. Never did that before. Was also surprised to see both tires spun evenly, not one side or the other.

      Considering the fact that the Tundra is a relatively new truck (oldest model is 1999) I would say that as of now, there are more 1999+ Rams on the road than Tundras. I think it's still to early to be able to tell if the TRD Pro will be reliable after heavy use.

    • @guyproulx1660

      there should be more Dodges than Tundra's on the road considering that they sold probably 5 times as many trucks, the question is how much will it cost to keep a Dodge running for 20 years compared to a Tundra

    • @brianashworth6763
      @brianashworth6763 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +guy proulx Considering the price of a new Tundra is always about $3k - $7k more than a Ram, and parts for the Ram are cheaper, I'll go ahead and say it's easier to maintain the Ram. My Ram is 11 years old, and at 150k miles, it's still relatively "new."

    • @Blackpanther_risen
      @Blackpanther_risen 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only reason the Ram can last longer than a cereal box toy is because they have engines built by Cummins instead of Chrysler. Chrysler is infamous for their realiability problems.
      On the other hand, Toyota trucks are renowned world wide because they're virtually indestructible and can outlive anything. Not that it matters though, since I drive a Chevy - also a good truck.

      +Roger Myers Toyota asked the Japanese government for a $2 billion dollar bailout in 2009 (www.foxnews.com/story/2009/03/03/toyota-seeking-government-bailout-in-japan.html). Again, since Toyota is a Japanese company you're probably not aware of their balance sheet. Chrysler got a government bailout in 1979 (www.investopedia.com/articles/economics/chrysler-bailout.asp) which president Reagan supported. Back then Americans supported US corporations. Americans purchased Chrysler K-cars introduced in 1981 to support the company instead of punishing it by refusing to purchase their cars since they "received a government bailout." But, that was different. It was a sitting Republican president who endorsed the bailout, not a Democrat (since this issue is all about politics).

    • @BorisW150
      @BorisW150 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Roger Myers Companies borrow money from their government (i.e. taxpayers) in order to ensure loans and avoid bankruptcy. But, we are distracted from the original issue, which is that the Toyota Tundra is not an American vehicle. The Toyota motor company (Toyota, Aichi, Japan) assembles theses trucks in the US (San Antonio, Texas) from parts fabricated in the US and Japan. Once these trucks are sold, all of the revenue from their sale (minus markup which goes to the dealer and wages paid to assemble them) goes back to Japan. Given the choice I would rather purchase a truck like the Ford F-150 and give the money for this purchase to a US corporation. In a recent comparison test by Car and Driver (www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/2015-chevrolet-silverado-vs-2015-ford-f-150-2015-ram-1500-2014-toyota-tundra-comparison-test) the Ford F-150 placed first among the full-size pickups tested and the Toyota Tundra placed last.
