it's hard to say the tundra is "very capable" when you look at it struggle in this video and then at what all of the other competitors in the 1500 segment bring to the table.... before people get butthurt, i have a 21 trd pro so...
@@robertespinoza2740 That probably true but they're really isn't a great locker market for the tundra. Only recently, after 15 years of production, did we see the first E locker from Eaton.
ATRAC was never really engaged. It needs constant throttle and increase by 100 rpm increments until it engages. it def takes practice and knowing how the system engages.
As a TRD Pro owner I am cringing watching this. First, he is not giving it enough gas. The Computer will compensate and send the power to the right wheel to gain traction if he's giving it at least 2,000-3,000 rpm. He's going way to slow to engage A-trac 4x4 system. I can tell you that when you use the A-trac correctly the Tundra is a pretty decent off-roader. It's no Tacoma but you want to do major trail driving you don't do it in a Tundra. I live in Texas so my off roading is in open areas not trails and the A-trac is great.
What’s the verdict? I would’ve liked to see a little more throttle applied for all the wheels to engage.
Best application of atrac in tundra - engage 4low and keep rpm within 3000.
The idle only offroad chaannel !
I will never understand Why they didn’t put a rear locker in the tundra. At least they put in in the new tundra
Completely agree. I still get around colorado easy but it's just annoying waiting for it
At least on the trd off road? Not even an option but could easily option on the FJ.
A terrible judgment call
Agreed
Attack works great. The new tundra does have a locker
The difference between the Tundr a and the big 3 is the Tundra will still be wheeling at 300,000mi.
lol.. I have no idea what these people are doing.. just hit the gas and ATRAC will work
I dont think they know what they're doing.
Looks like the tires were at STREET pressure. Go to 25psi at least. Just did Windrock at 20psi and never slipped.
Apparently this tundra was made out of papier-mâché. Afraid to drive it hard.
@@samsquatch9676 yeah I was scratching my head at that as well....
That took FOR EV ER!!!!! 😂
I have a 2014 tundra trd 4x4 offroad an it has an electronic diff locker it only works in 4L however
I didn't think that was a factory option ?
How would I know if my tundra has Atrac? I have a 2014 Tundra Platinum 4x4
It would have a button on the dash
@@amgeezy_2709 nah actually my tundra has Atrac without the button! Once 4wd is enabled atrax is activated but disables when you turn off the nannies
@@andhon ok. Cool. Good to know as I may be looking for a tundra again. I feel like my 2013 had a button unless that was my FJ or one of my 4R’s.
You guys replay don't know how to test 4 wheel drive !
Through the whole video I was waiting for them to turn A TRAC on for a comparison, then I realized it was on
air down...

Not many on this channel seem to know what they’re doing. 4Lo, consistent throttle, ATRAC will kick in. Also, AIR DOWN FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
No butthurt. It's a true statement. Any of the big 3 with their factory locker, and same wheel setup, would have walked over this.
@@electropentatonic all you need to do is add a locker and then uts way more capable and more reliable then the big 3
@@robertespinoza2740 That probably true but they're really isn't a great locker market for the tundra. Only recently, after 15 years of production, did we see the first E locker from Eaton.
@@electropentatonic you right kinda makes me sad how expensive they are after installation and everything
Could use auto lsd
Not even aired down, dudes running max PSI
Air down
I must have that bumper who makes it need one for my 07 tundra need a different carrier in the rear well fix that issue
Felt like I was watching paint dry, come on man skinny pedal on the right! Atrac works best when the rpms are kept at a steady 2,500
Was it in 4Lo for any of this?
This driver is not adequate to test the system. Also air pressure I too high. He drives like my teenage daughter.

Need locker for dat

Why buy a 6000lb vehicle that's meant to tow and haul and expect it to do jeep things? 99.9% of owners don't need lockers.
This is gay
