      Was this the The Problem With "Fall of X" extended cut? Where we jump to the opposite problem? Where unlike in the Comics, Marvel avoids "NAMED EVENT BOOKS" containing the main story with no required extra reading... the MCU is giving us Loki. Loki literally appears to be serving as the NAMED EVENT SHOW/MOVIE for all of Phase 4 and 5. To the point where watching Loki might cover the majority of non-MCU fans catch-up required to get them to Kang Wars.
      Since Marvel has been fighting tooth and nail for like a decade to give comic fans NAMED EVENT BOOKS so extra reading is NOT REQUIRED, even casual MCU audience (such as your gf Benny) are having issues understanding Loki is the ONLY required viewing.
      I feel like your description of "Kang" in this video was a bit weird (or cut together weird.) Kang is far easier to describe since its more of a title than a person. The title of Kang is super easy for any Rick and Morty to get. He Who Remains is what Rick would had been like if another Rick never crossed into his dimension. (Brillant but nothing more.) Like Rick, He Who Remains encounters other selves, is destined to create the Council of Ricks/Kangs. The main difference is while Rick is content KNOWING how much smarter he is... a Kang is more arrogant and when the Council of Kangs form... they will fight to prove whose best. With the only metric being, who can become the Leader of all of the Multiverse.

    Great video as usual Benny,
    I think Moon Knight is good example of a show that can be watched without any pre-requisites. To my recollection, there wasn’t any story beats that depended on the viewer having seen another MCU title prior to watching it. To me this is how the Marvel shows should be done and keep the movies separated to a certain extent. Make your references,Easter eggs, and callouts in movies but have the shows be able to stand on their own.
    It’s a little late for that now, but I believe that’s a reason why Moon Knight was received so well.

    As soon as we touched the word multiverse I got worried. The thing about a universe with so many characters already is when you start talking about alternate timelines you have to keep it EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY simple because it becomes sooo easy to confuse an audience. Once people who died can be seen again, once you can undo huge events in previous films, once there are alternate characters, everything can go off the rails. Welcome to chaos.

    • @hezekiahramirez6965
      @hezekiahramirez6965 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've lost interest in the MCU partly because of the multiverse crap. It's chaotic, yeah. I don't want to do homework. It's not that I can't follow it. I can follow complicated things. I'm not unintelligent or unable to grasp complex ideas. I just don't care enough to put in the effort. It's confusing to me because I just don't watch everything and don't care to. I don't want to put effort into watching movies. I just want to be entertained and if the movie has complex themes or narrative, that's fine. It's one movie. That's fine. But 20-some movies and how ever many shows is unreasonable. And you have to do that to keep up, it seems. Because now anything can happen and I can't rely on anything I HAVE seen. I just wish this thing would die and we can get some different superhero movies. Superhero movies that don't require homework. Superhero movies that are actually interesting. The MCU hasn't been interesting for a while now. The MCU needs to die. It's over. It needs to die

    I believe they said Loki was 400 years in the past, also I think the Multiverse was always their just locked off from the MCU. I think what He Who Remains DID, when he was trying to destroy the Multiverse he found he actually couldn't. He merely branched the timelines off and locked them away from the MCU to avoid the Kang problem. Why I suspect this, Tobey and Andrew's Spider-Man Timelines were still going on in "real time" those Spider-men had aged. If the Timelines were all erased, they would have been in the place were all pruned things go like the Thanos Copter and Frog Thor.

    I honestly feel the overall quality has gone down as well. Which when it was starting early on with stuff like Ironman 3? People were willing to shrug off some hiccups but now later on? People know what they can do and how much money they have. So more is expected.
    The interconnected nature of it all isn't a boon anymore either. As before it was smaller nods and larger stuff. Now it is so massive you kinda gotta see other stuff to get it. There isn't any stand alone stuff anymore with a small nod.
    The regular viewer isn't going to like that. Especially not when you combine the two. It makes it that much harder to dismiss the flaws. I believe superhero fatigue is real but only because the two above issues exist so much. We are in a lull period and all it will take for most people to jump ship? Is the next big thing to stick the landing and keep going.

    • @theoutsiderjess1869

      I expected this to happen the minute they started adding more heros like Spidey and more and there was very little character development for these characters Spiderman homecoming and far from home plots are too similar too each other for Peter to have grown. Making fun of Captain America and rolling his eyes at Thor, he was haughty, funny, villainous, full of charisma and personality, and that scene directly led to the start of this show. On top of that they should’ve called the show female loki because she was really the main character. Marvel has an issue with shitting on their older characters to prop up the new characters it’s very frustrating the loki from avengers was able to handle and manipulate earth’s mightiest heroes it’s sad

    The best solution is the same solution to this problem in modern comic books the one that they'll never, ever do: Make a timeline that lays out the main sequence of media needed to follow the main story and have stand alones be properly marketed as such, and every few months have a recap episode of the main story line upload for free on TH-cam or Twitter or whatever. Make it easy for people to follow the story and be able to jump on at any given time.
    The reason why they'll never do it is because they only ever see business in the short term, and are relying on people to "want" to go see *EVERYTHING* because of FOMO.

    My issues with the Loki show are a lot different than yours. Loki is my favorite marvel character and I was so excited for him to get his own show and then they literally butchered his character. He literally did nothing and had no traits of his characters personality. It wasn't even a Loki show it was just a Sylvie show the first season... and then the second season was nothing at all. Like they built up the whole first series to have some big fight and all these super evil and impossible to defeat Kang's and then they did nothing with it at all. I think the whole multiverse thing was a bad idea over all. Like every movie/show keeps saying "OH WE FINALLY OPENED THE MULTIVERSE!!!" and then they do it again and again and again. I mean there's Loki, Wandavision, Multiverse of Madness, Antman, Spiderman, etc. Like how many times do we have to open the multiverse?

    Loki, and WandaVision introduced the Multiverse to the MCU, Multiversal Maddness and No Way Home gave us a “proper” look at the Multiverse, and Quantumania introduced a Multiversal Villain. I agree with you Benny, it is an MCU problem, and at this point anyone new getting into the Marvel Movies will have to start all the way at the beginning with Ironman to have a full understanding of what is going on. It’s not like it’s the comics where you can pick up an Omnibus of some of the big events and get caught up enough so you know at least what direction, and what characters you want to follow. The MCU movies and Streaming Shows, you need to watch all or your lost within the Multiverse it’s self.

    The MCU is starting to have the same problem comics did for me in the 90s and early 2000s. Way too much intersecting with eachother forcing you to view stuff you arent as interested in if you want to full picture. WB did it with their DC shows and it killed my enjoyment of the few I watched (Flash and Arrow). Having to jump into the middle of other shows/films constantly is frustrating and feels like homework. Crossovers are great, but they shouldnt be the main driving force of a singular character based show (or multiple of them).

    i like to think about it like this, kang created the ‘sacred timeline’ or the ‘mcu’ a closed timeline loop where he who remains is the only kang in existence, so kinda for reference rick and morty, rick created a closed time loop of only where ricks are the smartest, in turn when sylvie killed he who remains the loop was broken, just like in rick and morty when evil morty gets out of the closed time loop where rick is no longer the smartest being, in turn by killing he who remains the ‘mcu’ closed time loop was broken slowing the already outside existing universe to collide with the main one, for example like fox universe or sony universe characters etc, therefore allowing kangs to be released onto all the time lines, does that make sense ?

    I agree. Remember at the beginning when they were rebuilding the MCU they started off with Ironman and that's the problem. Ironman was a solo movie by itself. The after credits was where they expanded the idea of the Avengers. That's why we gravitated to the Avengers movie waiting for all of the after credits to make a whole movie. Captain America was it's own movie. Thor was it's own movie. The same thing with the Guardians. Their first movies were their own movies. Nothing tied the movies together except the cameos and the end credits. Black Widow was Tony's bodyguard, Hawkeye was working with the scientist on Thor, etc. But after Civil War Marvel made everything into a tie in. After End game we wanted to find out how Wanda was doing and how Loki is going to come back to the universe, but everything else just seems like a after thought. Marvel is STILL trying to get rights to X-Men so the other stories just seems like filler until then. I would like for them to save the world building to the movies and make the series it's own thing.

    On the scale of consistency, power levels once again are not taken into effect.
    Loki's writing team nerfed him without any drama to balance it out. It's worst than what occured in Falcon and Winter Soldier because the plot surrounding Loki leaves him as an incompetent buffon.
    He went from a glorious villian, successful in his endeavors before Thor dragged him out of Asgard, to this show's helpless favorite punching bag. If Loki was about returning back to that glory I would understand but I don't think it will happen.
    Plus some people speculate Sylvie replaces Loki at the end. Even though I dislike fandom theories the fact they think Loki's legacy gets passed onto this new chacater really makes me question the state of the MCU

    The solution is a MCU recap. Like a 2 or 3 minute vignette before the show or movie, letting you know what you missed. Like, previously in the mcu.

    The fact that silvie exists at all and that variants are even possible means neither of those two options are true, accord to season 1 when a brand starts the TVA goes and eradicates the variant and the timeline with the bombs to prevent further things, but the fact there are different variants of loki of all types, male/female white/black human/animal means the multiverse already existed already what the TVA was doing was preventing any further universes from coming into existence by any further possibilities, cuz if that wasn’t all of those variants of loki would look like loki cuz its the character that’s doing something different, there would have never been a female loki at all if that wasn’t true to begin with, what they did was maintain a balance of having only certain timelines come into existence, quite probably purposefully stopping any of the bad kangs from ever coming into existence, cuz the multiverse is already something thats mentioned back in the first dr strange, so the concept wasn’t something that wasn’t already there beforehand

  • @Grimjr7
    @Grimjr7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would probably say the Loki one is the more likely scenario due to the fact of how the TVA works and since we can't verify that the TVA didn't prune any multiverses that came from Spider-Man. But we know that they're MO and we're currently seeing what's happening in Loki until something changes in Loki that would suggest that the multiverse situation was stopped It is safe to assume until that point that the Loki situation is what caused the multiverse. Unless we're just going to make the assumption that the multiverse was created during Spider-Man and the TVA chose to do nothing about it. But if you think about it that way it kind of makes Spider-Man in no way home kind of suck. Because this would imply that since. Peter changed the outcome of these villains lives before sending them back. He essentially changed the timeline in those universes and if the TVA does what they do then those universes got pruned.

    I wonder how things would have went if they made Thanos the main villain for Guardians, and planned other heroes to crossover via a space arc instead of combining it with Secret War. Such as how Hulk and Thor already crossovered in his movie, and then had Iron Man go on some space mission, probably introducing Nova and Ms Marvel early or at least hinting to them.

    Marvel is in a state where it’s for the fans, we shouldn’t worry about trying to explain it for casuals. Casuals will pick and choose what they like, and that’s good for them, but marvel fans shouldn’t be criticized for understanding a story they’ve kept up with 🤷🏾‍♂️

  • @Grimjr7
    @Grimjr7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This doesn't seem like a loki problem. I can't think of anything from Spider-Man that involves Loki. And there's nothing in multiverse of madness that needs to be explained that Loki hasn't already done so like what the multiverse is? That was explained in season 1 So the concept of multiple versions of a person should be something she should already have an understanding of. So telling her that there is another version of "He who remains" named Kang shouldn't be something difficult to understand. Quantumania doesn't tell you anything about the original Kang or the version or versions that the new avengers are going to eventually fight? Now, if she's assuming that there's information between Loki season 1 and Loki season 2 then that is true, but that information is an important. Also, the explanation you told us you gave was very bad and could have been done a lot easier.

    I didn't see the Thor movies and had no problem following the first Avengers movie. The trick is for the writer to tell you everything you need in the movie you're watching and if it sounds interesting you go back and watch one of the other movies, the same you used to do for the comics.
    Here's my favorite example of how this can work. In an episode of the original He-Man & The Masters Of The Universe there's a character called Dark Dream. In an episode where he shows up they easily explain that he once attacked Eternia through their dreams but the heroes managed to trap him, later explaining how he escaped to attack again. Wait, did I say "an episode". I meant the ONLY episode he appears in. Yet everything you need to know to understand who Dark Dream is, why he's seeking revenge, and how he's back was right there. You didn't need to watch a previous episode, which considering there isn't one is a good thing.
    So just do that. Pretend the other issue/movie didn't actually get made but the heroes did go through that adventure, tell the audience what they need to know, and let them find the previous story if they want but if they don't all you need to enjoy that one is still there. It's worked for decades.

    Mcu needs to do their own version of all new all different marvel. A soft reboot of sorts where new stories begin and it’s very very easy to start reading there. As opposed to reading or watching years worth of homework like you said. Though I will say with comics I definitely enjoy doing the homework much more

    I think infinity war and endgame can be enjoyed even if you don't watch the other movies because humans intuitively understand relationship dynamics. We meet spiderman on a school bus. so we know he's a kid. he has armor like iron man and it's obvious they have a mentor relationship and tony looks out for him. We don't need to watch the spider-man movies to understand the stakes when he's dusted.

The biggest problem I have is a massive plot hole from season 1. No consequences after Sylvie bombed the timeline!!!! WTF!!!! they go on a train adventure (great ep btw) and we never hear about it again!

    • @technounionrepresentative4274
      @technounionrepresentative4274 ปีที่แล้ว

      pretty much yeah, i feel the opposite of this guy, i think the modern mcu is quite limited in connection, no way home, secret wars, eternals, wukanda forever, guardians 3, she hulk, hawkeye, moon knight and shang chi all feel disconnected to eachother, sure in the past stuff like gurdians vol 1 felt disconnected but that was one movie, you watch phase 1 through 3 and you see a through line, i know that there are small connections in phase 4 and 5 but there feels like there is too many branching off storylines for them all to connect to kang and the multiverse,
      spiderman dealing with no one knowing who he is,
      whatever is going on with hawkeye,
      the thunderbolts forming,
      whatever star lord is doing,
      arishm kidnapping three eternals,
      the baby celestial poking it's head out of the water,
      thor being a dad on another planet,
      the younger stars like iron heart showing up,
      what is rhodey doing? is he a skrull?
      you compare the five movies of phase one, they built up to the avengers forming and loki invading earth, we have had over double the ammount of movies and shows in a shorter period of time and we have a less clear end goal, i guess the kangs are going to do multiverse stuff but what does that have to do with anything i listed above?

    Can always google, what i do when i need to remind myself.
    Meanwhile, i did enjoy Loki along with Falcon and Winter Soldier, Moon Knight, What If...? and Ms Marvel as shows go.
    Middle for me with WandaVision and She-Hulk.
    And well, sure theres too many Marvel, i aint gonna argue with that but at the point, im mostly npt caring on what others think and stay on my neutral ground.
    Its like with books as well when ya gotta read the series from the very start in order to catch up on the current project.
    Again, the solution, just google if ya dont got all yhe time.

    So the problem that MCU fans have is the same thing that Made the MCU the mega success it became. The fact that things connect was one of the MAJOR reasons people loved the MCU in the first place. We had never seen anything like it. Its not a real problem because plenty youtube channels connects all the dots so you dont have to sit through hours of movies you may not enjoy. The problem is that MCU entertainment have become so trash that we dont give a 2nd thought to skipping something now.
