This is a very cool design, with both the H mode and sequence mode having a great feel. If the feel of the H mode and the feel of the sequence mode can be separately adjusted, then you wouldn't need to readjust the feel of the H mode every time you switch, which is the only improvement I think this product needs.
I wish these high end shifters had gear lockouts and a provision to attach a haptic device. Would be great immersion to miss a gear, get locked out, and have the lever vibrate in your hand
If you turn up the strength on the shifter does the sequential mode stick like it does with the fanatec or simagic shifters? I appreciate that you have the tension set very low but if you could turn it up just to test that it would be greatly appreciated :)!! Thanks so much for the great review!
It will stick if you do that in sequential. You still get a decent amount of adjustment but the H patten mode handles more tension than the sequential does.
@@SIMRIG412 It is a high quality niche product engineered and manufactured in the UK so what can you expect. I mean 1200 euros is a lot for a shifter but at least it is the only shifter you'll ever need which can't be said about other shifters in the same price bracket.
Thank you for sharing, I want to know how the H1SQ deals with the limit of R and 7 gears, I see that there seems to be no downward pressure or upward movement in your action, is it a significantly increased resistance to prevent hanging the wrong gear?
It’s kind of deceiving and a very clever design. The additional push to the side basically causes it to pull up on the shifter and it also unlocks different gates. But yes the force difference is significant. No way you can do it by accident.
@@Theoloop ya I thought mine was broken… been using it but I haven’t seen anybody wiggle it around yet… the h1sq has felt great just wish it didn’t have so much play… my buddy ordered one too I’m just waiting for his to see if the play in his is the same… its been by far the most fun I have had slapping around the gears that’s for sure
@@philrob4468 It is a feature, not a bug. They wanted to capture the shifting feel of MKII rally car and shifters irl tend to have fair amount of play.
For that price the seq mode is pretty weak and lame. Also the h pattern shifts are much more satisfying! Sounds like every other shifter!! Can buy simagic shifter and be fine for around $400! Also this bdh is was to big and looks like the tubes the bank teller sends over at the drive thru
Awesome breakdown of the shifter Theo! Congrats on your new toy.
it looks beautiful
I think you sold me. Balling out on my rig more than I thought I would, whoops

@@Theoloop I was just noting that, im definitely placing an order for one of these when bonuses from work hit the bank account soon.
@@theHaba99 ah okay. Good deal! You’ll love it. Sorry I thought you were talking about me and I was confused haha.
I'm going to wait for aiologs h shifter
Great video. Any idea how it compares to their original shifter? Is build quality the same or is it watered down?
I haven’t seen or used the original. But I don’t see anything to indicate lacking quality on this
one day i hope to be able to afford a simvertex or BDH shifter!!
Simvertex is junk 😂 $500-600 for micro switches and always bad reviews! And this one from bdh is way overpriced also

How much play does it have …. I find mine has a fair bit wobbling side to side and up and down … how’s your unit?
There’s a bit but not really unlike any real shifter and it doesn’t interfere with anything.

Cool story. Enjoy your simagic!
If you’re looking for “be fine” then yes you can get any shifter between 150-500 and be fine. This shifter is for enthusiasts.
You know someone is old when they remember those bank tubes.
Also, I own the DX8 and the BDH. The DX8 feels awful to me and I didn’t like the throw.
