    Honest review. I like this boat a lot it's fast and easy to handle. Single ✋ absolutely no problem. Sailed the german beauty for 3 days. Even in Beaufort 6 it handelts very well. For the money it's a good choice.

    Great review....as you mentioned, options to make the boat a cruising yacht are definitely needed. This is the basic charter model...but a lovely boat just the same!

    I agree about the idea of controlling electrical through that master Console. 20 seconds to do a 2 second task is a pain in the ass. And frustrating for some. I dislike when electronic "whole home" systems take away selectivity for "ease of use".
    Lots of these electmatronical stuff can (and usually is) designed for alternate inputs. A nice feature would be to have a bank or two of physical switches (and corresponding status lights) that are custom programmed.
    Your "galley lights" shut-off could be one button. perhaps another for lounge, etc.
    Or another for pump shutoff, etc.

    Wow thanks so much for this popping up for me now on the other aide of the Pond. I'd had some pretty good indications, and educated guesses on its seaworthyness for a liveaboard Boat. Perspective, since the 1979 Fastnet Race Tragedy, I have avoided everything and anything yo do with Sailboat Racing, and became a dedicated Cruiser instead. Way too many New boats Re Racer Cruisers but more Racer Racer than Cruiser, and to me just aren't fit for Cruising extensively on. I love the look of the Below Waterline Farr Hull as a result, an assessment of which was indicated as likely correct came with a yacht delivery skipper after going through some rough water in reasonable strength Winds around Lands End on the way to South Wales, commented that the boat handled the conditions surprisingly well, which has now been firmed up by a comment below that A C45 handled a Beaufort Force 6 "Yacht Gale" OK. After all we run away from Force 6 Winds if at all possible, even if we're on the heaviest built Old School Bluewter boats if we are sensible, but can still get caught out. Yes I'm going to have quite a long list of Customisations, including an option for the Agent to fit a Raymarine Network (Nothing really wrong with B&G, I just want to keep up the relationship with Raymarine), and now thanks to you, that customisation will include an expanded Swutch Panel, though I suspect Emergency Boxes on the MFD, can be configured with buttons needed in the Box dedicated to specific areas of actions needed. I'm pretty sure that can be done with B&G as well tbh. EG. Engine wi down, Lights window, Pumps Window and such, but analogue buttons do have some pretty significant advantages to me, if only as backups. Best Wishes and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Tou you all. Bob. Oh PS. Not sure if it is an option, but think it is - that Dinghy garage. the step to the left of the Bathing platform can fold up, making it much bigger, and you can have a pump in the left side wall for blowing up the tender. It looks like a deflated 10ft Hypalon inflateable deck and keel tender will slide in there no problem. 👍

  • @Googlerer007

    Why is the dinghy garage "not really big enough" for a dinghy? does it not fit inside without the outboard engine?

    There are imho no bad boats only boats used for the wrong purpose. This is a family cruiser for coastal waters, easy to sail, lots of space, affordable. You will not win races, you will not be comfortable crossing an ocean. You can try either but that is not what she was meant to do.

    6:59 What was aft of the stairs? I see a door on the port side and a large cabin on the starboard side. I see now, a quick edit made it jump around. You were moving forward, then cut to the aft cabins. Laura was in the port side aft cabin. Same with the starboard side. And two vee cabins forward with two heads/showers before the cabins.

    I wonder if the electrical system has build in safety protocols to automatically shut off a shorted circuit. Very nice boat for the couple who casually sails, but spends more time in their slip.... just my opinion. I like the self tacking jib, but that mainsheet/traveler of a clusterf*ck has to go. That certainly wouldn't fly on my boat. Thanks for the honest review.

    Unfortunately all new production sailing monohulls and catamarans seem to have very similar concepts regarding sailing performance, instruments, etc. A sort of IKEA-like boats aimed for the charter market. At least in the basic configuration.
    Positiv is the comfort level and the space.

I'm assuming it would be things such as a water maker, lithium batteries and how many of them, solar panels and how many of them...etc. Someone who is experienced please chime in on this subject as I'm super new and would like to know what would make this boat go from stock to excellent. Thank you! Cheers from Denver Colorado USA!

    Okay Laura, sleeping in Again? Of course Bobby could have told you in advance to "cover up a nipple" now couldn't he? The rigging on this boat really is different and might take some time for someone used to traditional rigging to get used to. At $230K you do get a lot of boat but customizing would add quite a bit to that cost. I didn't see any solar at all!

    Why do sailboats have two steering wheels?

    • @brewmagoo589
      @brewmagoo589 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      For wide beam boats, like this one, to have just a single center wheel would require the wheel to be huge, in order to be reachable from both sides of the boat. This is a requirement for racing because the helmsmen needs to have a good view of the sails while steering to maintain maximum speed. On a cruising boat, the dual helms provide easy access from the cockpit to the swim deck on the stern and I suspect also make it easier to single hand sail.

    I felt you were a bit negative on this tour. If it's not designed for racing then why review as if you wanted to race it? Review the boat for what it was designed to be. To be honest you look stressed out and disengaged lately on your videos. Perhaps that will change when you get your own boat. Im sure it's not easy right now without your own boat. I thought that boat was beautiful. I wish you touched on its blue water capabilities.

      @FrankPace54 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We see it's not a racing boat. But if you're long distance cruseing, you want some performance to make good time on passages. The self tacking jib and lack of Traveller is just for lazy sailing.

    I just can't get into these "cheese wedge" boats where you are so far aft that you may as well be in the dingy following the boat. I wonder what that would look like in heavy breaking following seas. The interior looks like a catamaran motel 6 and if you don't have an electronics degree you have a problem. Yes I'm an old fashioned closed minded relic but give me a Hans Christian any day for real sailboat lines and quality.

    The Huge problem with pretty much everything Marine today is: Modern technology. Older tried and true systems, systems that could be hay wired and or fixed before are now impossible to repair. All it takes is a drop of salt water and your computer systems are toast. I owned a Canadian commercial offshore fishing boat for 30 years, never had a breakdown. Anything that was looking a bit soggy I could fix up in port in no time. All this new computer crap in my book will only cost a fortune and spell disaster for many.
