Thank you for this review. I do not understand why so many people have downvoted it. Many boaters are not so open-minded and religiously follow a brand. But still, it is a good review of a boat. Thank you for that!

I thought he should have shut the heck up. Maybe there was no BS involved, but he has no idea about letting the boat sell itself. Imagine if you were faced with verbal diarrhea like that on every boat you visited at the show.....

Glad to see that monohull builders are finally taking queues from the Catamaran guys and taking Beam Width and Heeling into account. They may finally start competing again.
Nice video, thanks. The new lighter interiors on these Beneteaus are much improved. My two favorite TH-cam boat salesmen are Ian Van Tuyl and Sean Smith, but this guy Jeff was excellent. Very knowledgeable and seemed trustworthy. I love the forward cabin in the older Oceanis 48 (sorry to hear it has been discontinued) I guess the new 51.1 is a better boat overall, but I still love that Oceanis 48 owner’s cabin. Love the self tacking jib and aft located winches.
Catamarans are comfy and less headaches but the beauty and sexiness of a mono-hulls is irresistible I mean the outer shape the interior they both can be pretty depending on how much you throw in.

Really enjoyed the owner from Rain man. Based on his demeanor, attitude, and the way he presents himself, I will be looking to him for a water maker first before anyone else.

think the 46 is better , lower hull ports so u can see out from the bunk , both nice .Wider up front (more slamming). Self tackers are a must for easy sailing short handed . Id love to see the two cabin version , my favorite

Beneteau 46 certainly looks like a nice boat. Though, in all honesty, Beneteau is a follower in innovation as all these 'new features' exist in performance cruisers already for years. Like twin rudder etc. Beneteau will certainly do the job especially for elderly people who are looking for a floating caravan.
Do you know what the prices are, roughly? Just curious.

Great video! I did not realize they improve the boat so it doesn’t heel over as much. That was my wife’s biggest problem with sloops. I may be able to get her to consider this over a cat!

Wow! So much space. I've done pretty much all my sailing in much smaller boats and occasionally in 40+ footers, but none have had anything like the space. I know the camera can lie a bit, but nevertheless. Those Beneteaus are like Tardises [Dr Who's roomy Police Box] 😋
The new generation of boats has really great usage of space and are much beamier than the older boats. I’d say the video is pretty accurate with how much space there feels inside

And with those WIDE hard chines up front the POUNDING wave action will be intense! So, as long as you plan on never ever never sailing into the wind or being in a storm.

My experience with monohulls with wide cockpits is there are great at anchorage but uncomfortable when heeled over underway, there is very hard to brace yourself...
Perhaps but considering you spend 90%+ of your time at anchor it’s a trade off I would be happy with.

What about the electronics, wash machine, drier etc, although it's a sail boat, rod holders for fishing, electricity generators and storage ( Lithium hydride?) What is optional? May be I missed something. Beautiful boat though, Beneteau is a quality name.

That Benettau 46.1 was really nice
The only thing I would have liked to see on either boat, would have been the engine room and or what kind of drive they had. Like a through hull drive. I would have loved to see them.

Beautiful boats! They've definitely worked out some of the minor frustrations from the 50'er you sailed. It would be great if they had you sail one of their new boats for a while and show us how great they are! Also, you can go ahead and double up on the dog time. We don't mind. It's good to see the channel namesakes. :)
Personally I would go for performance cruisers like Azuree 46, X-Boats X46 for a better build quality and sailing performance.

If I were buying one I’d probably go with the 46 unless money just really wasn’t a concern. Usable space is very similar just less expensive with the 46
@@Sailingdoodles Really didn't seem bigger in the video. 46 is probably the right choice. Besides, 50 is where the harbors go from not too expensive to ouch!
Much rather have a Hylas 46 or 49, even if I had to buy used one.

Boats were beautiful. Many years ago I used to deliver bottled water to a Beneteau factory. Throughout the entire place, including the offices, the awful smell of fiberglass was present. I once asked how can you all put up with that smell. The office manager replied, "What smell?"
Well, as a plant manager who worked at a factory for some years, I can tell you that it is usually more than a smell. People over the years get cancer after 10-20 years. And then it is not possible to trace it back to a specific workplace as people tend to change their workplace over the years. The good news is that in the past decade or so, work health safety and working conditions have improved in general at least in Europe from west to east of the continent.

If I won the lottery I would buy a Beneteau... always liked them.. But with this hard chine hull how does it sail? From kayaking I thought a rounded hull better. With the hard chine it is more stable up to a point but then rolls over suddenly.
Into the wind it’s much faster.
