Great episode. amazing how people will complain about newer cheaper made boats...little do they know, these boats survive lot's of abuse and cover more miles than most older heavier classic designs.
@Siward Beorn Absolutely not rubbish...or should I say "ABSOLUTELY NOT RUBBISH!" If you look at charter fleets and the abuse those boats get with multiple groundings, ignorant captains, miles upon miles of sail time. How about some successful youtube channels like Sailing La Vagabond....The guy bought a Beneteau and sailed that boat to several countries over the years before acquiring their Catamaran. How about "Delos" and their AMEL.....Ok, this one may be more robust than Beneteau but it's not a heavier classic either. Delos as you must know has been sailing for close to a decade non stop all over the warmer locations of the globe. Lot's more to talk about but why.....

Bavaria makes a nice boat for a monohull! STX Marine was agent for Boston Whaler where I was Yard Mgr got to put a few together.Nice to see one roll in covered in shrinkwrap.
I can see how covering up the lines gives the illusion of more space, like plastic covers inside the engine compartment of a car. For those who sail, it seems modern boat design is more like an RV than a sailboat. Two toilets seems to be an industry standard, aimed at a very different target customer than most sailors I know. The whole culture of sailing seems to have shifted over the last couple of generations.
2 toilets on a boat is overkill and 3 is ridiculous.
@@donaldfafard I agree. Anybody who is responsible for maintenance on the head of a boat will want only one, if that. New boat customers are completely different breed, and some boats have relegated sail hardware to the role of cosmetic appendage. That said, my wife had a major say in the style of used racing boat we ultimately chose. All major family decisions are by definition a compromise.
It is known as the "Pussification" of sailing..... you see it in every category of marketing...Trucks, houses, airplanes.boats etc....

I find some of the comments amusing. There is NO boat that one design fits all. Some are good for cruising , some for open water
,some for racing, and on and on. Someone wanting to go cruising would not find hiking out on a railing and constantly working hard on a grinder very much fun while others find enjoyment in it.
These boats are being set up for charter cruising in Thailand not for ocean passages.
That's not true my ex found a boat that met all her criteria. It was called princess Cruise something or other.
LOL good one. it proves my point though. Perfect for HER. For me it couldn't take me to a lot of islands I like, such as JVD since no docking facilities and shallow harbors.@@MrRourk

Hm, could you tell me about the 3rd head though? Do the rear cabins have to share that? ;) jk. I can see why you'd want to highlight that. It was cool to learn what a distributor/seller like this has to do once they get the boat from the various manufacturers.

About 2/3 the price of a similarly equipped catamaran. At cat is also 50% more in dockage fees too

Ninjas were always revered for their ivory skin.
More beam is not always good. This is not a house, nor should it be treated as such. You can end up with the bathtub effect which makes it miserable to sail.
"1hp per foot" damn, i have a 7hp yamnar on my Avance 24 boat, and it goes up to 6 knots, and on grandfathers avance 36, he has a 15hp volvo penta, wich gets it up to 6 hp to.. Either people want fast sailboats when running with engine, or it's just these new modern big bulky boats..
I always choose the most powerful engine the manufacturer offers, because, I got caught in a tornado in 2014 on a beneteau 411 i chartered and, if the engine was the 30 hp, instead of the 60 hp the boat had I probably wouldn't be telling you this story, I'd be dead. The engine was powerful enough to pull the boat away from the tornado. Then in 2017 when I was buying my Bavaria 46 I emeadietly took the 75 hp engine instead of the 55hp, because I really don't want to find myself in that scary situation again.

Clean decks for a real wave to come across , into the cockpit , plastic wood interior modern boat are all the same ,
I don't think the monohull boats are as good, comfortable, or as safe as catamaran's for open sea crossings or full time living.
If a cat gets knocked down in a squall it wont come back up.. Though this boat would not fair well either would surf and pitch the bow into the waves.

That is not true, there are some sailing channels scamming people non stop and not putting out any content. One guy only puts out begging livestreams and calls that content! Bob is a videographer and puts out regular high quality filmed content. Cheers Bob!
