    Planning a 5000km trip with my ex-wife and our daughter. I've been eyeing a 4m WhiteDuck Regatta for the trip and for work instead of staying in hotels. Haven't camped in 20 years so this video answered a few questions I had. It was also nice to get an inside view of a 4m. I'll have to keep looking for a shot of the tent packed up so I can see how much room it takes up in the vehicle. Thumbs up!

    We live in Ireland... the reason we always use a footprint under our groundsheet is simply that it is easier to clean the footprint (a plastic tarp). Even after a long stay the underside of the sewn in groundsheet is clean and dry.

    • @gordondavies7773
      @gordondavies7773 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well organised campers peg out the base of their tent over a large plastic tarp a,d mark the footprint of the tent on the tarp. They then cut the tarp to the shape of the footprint.
      We are less well organised, we just fold the uncut tarp back under the tent, making sure that no part of the tarp is visible (so as not to collect water).
      Irsh camping conditions are rather different - managing hot weather is not an issue! Heavy rain and gale force winds are part of the fun. We are just back from a 3 week stay in the wettest summer recorded, and we survived! Largely due to the large, heavy and amazingly robust Dutch pyramid tent we invested in a few years ago. In these conditions the inner tent is essential.
      Now looking for a bell tent for shorter stays

    Hey, thanks for the awesome video. I'm will buy a Canvas Camp Sibley 500 Protech next year and I have a lot of questions haha :D
    Many of them were answered just by your video! Thanks!
    But one is still there and I don't find a answer on it in the video or on the website from Canvas Camp, maybe you can answer it :)
    I also want to run a wood stove inside the tent and I was thinking about the exit for the chimney, do I have to cut a hole in the tent by myself or is the hole with the exit pre installed? And when I have to cut it by myself, how did I do it? :O
    Would love to here your experience with it!
    Thanks again!
    Kind greetings from Germany
    Cheers
    Chris

    Love the vid !! what is the packing and unpacking time for the tent? and what is the reason you go with this design over an instant-up tent?

    • @TheDadventures
      @TheDadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate! good questions. You're looking at 10-15mins to put up the bell tent :) To be truthful, my original reasons in buying this bell tent was for snow camping (i.e. thick Canvas materials coupled with hot tent options). I originally looked at the canvas 30 second RV5 & R5 Oztent but the price point was high, and the bell tent was cheaper. Do I want to try the RV/RX series still? YESSS!! haha. I also think the Bell tent had more room than most for the price😀😀

      Good question mate! We've only used for the winter months and yet to use it in summer due to the pandemic. We have something planned for the coming months so we can do a summer review. stay tuned :)

    Since I last seen this video post and responded to it I finally got a bell tent which is only a 3 season tent and for the price I couldn't pass it up and since it is normally hot in the summer here this tent has 7 windows and the nice thing about it is if it starts to rain you don't have to go outside to close the the flaps on the 3 upper windows you can zip open the screen and unhook the flaps and zip them close and just zip the screens back close all from the inside and same way with the 4 side windows and like said the price is what got at 180 dollars with tax and shipping and I got the tent the day after I ordered it by regular shipping cost and out in the sunshine with just the 3 top windows open and the door flaps open so air can blow thru the tent it kept it nice in it with a breeze and I can imagine if I opened the other 4 windows how much cooler it would have been, and on a cold night without any type of heat to keep it warm just everything closed and zipped up and just from my body heat when I woke up in the middle of the night it was quite nice not cold and not hot it was comfortable inside with no condensation on the ceiling or walls, but I do plan on getting a ground sheet for it and a fan to use when I'm sleeping, but I do have plans to get a 4 season bell tent and it will be at least a 5 or 6 mm one because I like not having to duck down to get into the tent and I'm going to build a platform to put the tent on off the ground and have it where I don't have to take it down and get one with an extra door, because when I build the platform it's going to be big enough it will have a fully functional lavatory and shower house with running water and close in the backdoor area to have storage space and the lavatory will be heated and cooled kinda like a place to get away when I want and make foray with a solid door that can be locked and I saw that on a video and thought it was a good idea for safety reasons. As for now I'm enjoying the tent I have and learning as I go with it on what is possible and what's not possible with one and the tent I have is by Timber Ridge and I couldn't believe the price of it all I thought it would have a lot of defects and I haven't found one loose threading on it and I really looked it over and if doesn't leak when I get a chance to test it then I'll really be glad I made the decision to purchase this tent for now.

    I love the tennis ball idea!
    My brother and I each just received our bell tents. We plan to put them up in the fall and leave them up through spring.
    Question for you: Have you had any condensation issues with the tent/stove combo?
    Thanks a ton!

      @TheDadventures  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question mate. We haven't had any condensation issues with the bell tent stove top combo. Wife always have a window or two open for air circulation. And ours have permanent air vent at the peak of our tent. Let us know how you go with your bell tent 👊

    Hey man love your videos! I bought the same camp stove you have but I’m trying to figure out how to get the chimney out horizontally as my bell tent does have the cutout for it on the lower side as you mentioned. the kings camp stove chimney only protrudes straight up vertically though. I’m thinking would I need a custom piece made ? What are your thoughts ?

    • @TheDadventures
      @TheDadventures  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jerome, sorry for the late reply! Great question mate. I would also love to know this too. I would say a custom piece for the chimney. However, I haven't played around with a camp stove with a rear exiting chimney to know the mechanics well enough to be much help to you. If you handy though, would love to see what you come up with! keep me posted buddy :)

    Robenstent may also have a liner for the floor

  • @dwaynebeavers2088
    @dwaynebeavers2088 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    On the protective cover you can measure or get one put it over your tent and mark it out where your chimney pipe is and have a piece put in that's heat resistant and have a flap that rolls up and when you don't need the stove have it rolled down and velcro closed and as for the ground cover I think it's Stout that has it, but most everyone that I have talked with said they just get a heavy duty tarp and fold in where it sticks out and I'm getting ready to order a Stout Pro Series bell tent 5M was thinking about the 6M because it has double doors on front and back and the double walls is a plus and the 6M is cheaper than the 5M and I'm going to get the awning for extra space and storage especially for wood for the fire place and I found a bigger stove from Gander Camping World and it would allow you to have a fire all night and one couple I have talked with told me that they put down a rug where the pole sits and they do that in case they set up and it's soft ground and the pole doesn't push down and cause the tent to lose its tension and putting down rugs is a good way to keep you warm and easy to keep the floor clean and with the awning I'm going to put down an outdoor carpet under it to keep the dirt down even more and I'm going to use tarps on the sides of the awning to have it totally enclosed and use it for a sitting area and kitchen in the winter and rainy days because for warm weather I'm ordering a mosquito netting for military surplus for the awning area and unlike what you have for a bed I'm going to be using a teton xxl cot since I'm a big guy and getting up from the ground is hard for this old guy, because laying on the cold ground I would have my own commercial for I've been laying on the cold ground and I can't get up!! And yes you can laugh at that and here in Illinois you never know what kind of weather you are going to have during Fall/Winter and Winter/Spring but Summer is the only time you know what to expect hot and humid and mosquitoes attacks and the other times just wait 5 minutes and the weather will change and that's why I'm also getting a solar powered generator to run fans or a portable air conditioner especially if my wife ever goes with me.

  • @borka79tube

    if you decide to spend sometime in NSW campground and have a 5m bell tent, I assume it will limit the number of campgrounds which can accommodate such a large tent. Is it a fair assumption?
    or you will need to pay for 2 slots?

    • @TheDadventures
      @TheDadventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely depends on the campgrounds. What I found is that the caravan sites = you potentially need to pay for 2 sites to fit the tent and your car. Most of the national parks in the Snowy mountains, we had heaps of room for the one campsite. Hope that helps

    I did my research for a year before I bought our tent and we ended up going with the white duck tent company because one of the reasons was they already had a stove Jack ready to go and they had a floor that was actually thick enough to keep some heat in. And they were here in the US.

    • @glampingtent
      @glampingtent ปีที่แล้ว

      WD makes a decent tent. We were debating on that brand or one from Life intent - they even have a tent that has 2 stove jacks - but not sure if I want a 6M like that one.
