I've just got back today after a 7day tour of Scotland, using this tent and the Roar stove.
Absolutely fantastic set up to use. And it was throughly tested at John O'Groats, when the light easterly breeze turned into hurricane shatterpants! 😅
Tent was still up right in the morning, although a little damp inside due to the footprint being a separate item.
I would say, if you get this tent, get the footprint too, as it forms the template to set your tent perfectly. We realised this the day after! We survived though and will go back again for another epic tour of Scotland.
*note to self, bring more whisky! 😅

Thanks so much for this video - it convinced me to get one! I camped out in the Trossachs in my Rock Fortress in minus 5 temps with an Outbacker Firebox. It was toasty warm and bags of room. A good compromise if you want the space but don't want to shell out for a bell tent that needs to be dried out for days if it gets wet. Get a good sleep system for when the stove cools down at night.

For the same pack size and weight of a Dutch army tent but 5 times the space, I would say this is a winner. 👍

This is a very very good video and I just got this tent for Christmas and we are planning a trip in Feb. Thanks to you I know a little more about this tent and I set it up in my back yard and slept out in the new tent and I am ready now to take this tent to the mountains, and have a 3 night campout and your video here has been very valuable as a teaching tool. Thank you so much

Wow... a light-wight summer version, almost, of the Bear Market tent. And there certainly is plenty of room inside. You can fit bed, stove with oven, especially with the center pole removed, a table, two chairs, battery pack, etc. And if you are ambitious, you can get a rug with a water-proof bottom or the kind of rugs you can put on a porch or balcony and that will do nicely for flooring.

The most wonderful tent review that I have seen. I will be checking out your previous presentations soon. What if the area you camp in is considered a rain forest? Does that tent ventilate well enough to dry things out without having additional rain fall in the tent when it is set up in days of continuous rain?

We love ours Andy. We’ve been in sub zero temperatures in our in Norfolk. With the fire on we needed plenty ventilation as it was so hot in there. But yes chilli in the morning. We did need need to pin ours closer to the ground as it was windy and a draft could get in under the snow skirt, but that would be true for any similar tent. I must say though. It is super stable in windy conditions. Do you know if any of you other tent inners could be hung in this one? Thanks Andy Paul.

I agree that the center placement of the stove Jack seem better then at the side. I wish that tent makers would come up with a better way to gauge how many people will fit in a tent there so no way you would be putting people in them the way the diagram shows. Take care Andy

  • @Shadow_Wraith

I've had mine since early November and lived in it full time for about a month. It stood up to heavy rain and 50+mph Scottish Highlands winds.
What I don't like about it the material, set it up so its nice and taught, then it rains and becomes all baggy so you need to adjust it all again, then it dries out and becomes dangerously drum tight so have to adjust it all again and so on. I wish they would use 600D polyester, yes it's heavy but we'll worth it. Also the hole in the stove jack is huge, I have an Outbacker Firebox stove which only has a 60mm flue, from memory the hole is 90mm. What I did was use a silicon baking sheet, cut my own hole and slip that over the flue and cover the existing stove jack with it to keep the rain out. The pegs are crap, they were replaced the first time I set it up, they're way too short and the webbing slips over the top of them.
The room is a huge positive. Shame they'll never be an inner for it because there's nowhere to attach one to inside the tent. For the cost it's ok but there is better out there.

Just the 4th gale would have deprived me of too much more sleep lol. I have bought a Bell tent village eco 4k Stove that works well and in a couple of days The one Tigris fortress arrives. The one issue/question I have with this tent is the length of the stove pipe needed.
A 2m pipe seems just too short to clear the height of the tent.
What is your experience, is a 3m pipe needed or will the 2m pipe do?

My flue is 9ft, it's not long enough. Even with a spark arrester I ended up with 3 small holes in mine. I've since bought another section of flue to make it a bit over 10ft and hope that it helps prevent further holes. I have an Outbacker Firebox for reference.

I have this tent it's not made very well, nothing is double stitched , took 25 minutes to un stick it , was stuck together like it was stored in a extremely hot place. The main pole was broken at the bottom had to fix it before I could use it, stakes are garbage pulled out immediately, had to replace them with good one's, one's included are cheap. Guy line's snapped in 5 mph wind , there not good at all I recommend replacing them with 550 cord , the peak loop can Not be used with a hot tent stove either for any of you guy's new to hot tenting. Zipper on one side ripped out in the first 5 minutes, this also leak's like crazy, nothing is sealed. Sounds like 90% of these reviews are bought and paid for no offense to you man . There's also a really big issue, a standard hot tent stove is going to need 4 extra pipes as 8 feet of pipe don't clear the peak , so sparks or embers are going to hit the tent .

Didn't faulter, didn't pull a peg or let a drop of water in.. wind did however rip to shreds my aquaquest defender tarp that has a lifetime warranty, so it says how bad weather was. I really recommend this tent. Sat in it writing this after a month of punishment. Well done OneTigris

Not sure which tent you’re on about, but it sure as hell ain’t the Rock Fortress that I have had for several years now, which is brilliant. Pegs pulling out is usually caused by them either not being appropriate for the ground you’re on or being put in at the wrong angle. It also works really well with a standard length flue. I think we’re dealing with a severe case of operator error here…
